Famous Mountain on the Border: Mount Heng in the North

Mount Heng Scenic Area, located in Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province, spans Shanxi and Hebei provinces. It stretches across the border, towering and majestic. The Mount Heng Scenic Area is famous for its beautiful scenery, and there has always been talk of the 18 views of Mount Heng. After the Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake visited Mount Heng, he recorded his observations in 'Xu Xiake's Travel Notes'. In addition to the world's unique wonder, the Hanging Temple, the entire Mount Heng Scenic Area is picturesque, making tourists feel as if they are in a paradise, lingering and stopping. The great Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai left the ink mark 'magnificent' on Mount Heng. After Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty went to Mount Tai for the sealing ceremony, he personally came to Mount Heng for the sacrifice, held the 'Burying the Original Jade' ceremony, and sealed Mount Heng as a god for the first time. Afterwards, emperors of all dynasties continued to seal Mount Heng. In the first year of the Tang Kaiyuan, the Northern Peak was sealed as the King of Peace; in the fourth year of the Song Dazhong Xiangfu, it was further sealed as the Holy Emperor of the King of Peace; after Kublai Khan unified the world, the Northern Peak was further sealed as the True Yuan Holy Emperor of the King of Peace; in the third year of his reign, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, decreed to change the name of the god of Mount Heng.
