Travel Notes on Nan'ao Island

Nan'ao Island is located in Shantou City, Guangdong Province, 55 kilometers away from Shantou and 70 kilometers away from Chaozhou. Generally, tourists travel to Nan'ao Island from Chaozhou. It takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes by car. The journey includes crossing the magnificent Nan'ao Cross-sea Bridge, which is exceptionally spectacular. A three-day trip is advisable. On the first day, tour around the island. On the second day, visit the main attractions. On the third day, explore the remaining spots and return. Major attractions on Nan'ao Island include: the lighthouse, the General's Office, Xiongzhen Pass, Lieyu Tongcheng, the Tropic of Cancer marker, Qing'ao Beach, Song Well, and Shenzhen Bay, among others. My favorite spot is Shenzhen Bay, where the vast oyster fields stretch out into the distance, dotted with colorful floating balls, creating a magnificent scene, especially recommended at dusk for photography enthusiasts. Accommodations are generally in Houzhai Town, which is the county seat of Nan'ao and relatively bustling. Of course, you can also stay in Yun'ao, Dong'ao, Jinjiaoyi, Qing'ao, and other places for a more authentic experience. I visited Nan'ao Island in February, and to be honest, it was a bit cold with the sea breeze. I recommend traveling from April to October, which should be more pleasant.
