Shanghai Old Street

Shanghai Old Street, originally named 'Fangbang Middle Road', is a part of the old city of Huangpu District, Shanghai. It starts from Henan South Road in the west and ends at People's Road in the east, with a total length of 825 meters. This street is the most representative of Shanghai's ancient charm, and it is also a gathering place for the 365 trades of the folk. The architectural style and business layout from west to east show the evolution of Shanghai's historical culture during the period from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the influx of Western culture in the Republic of China. In addition, Shanghai Old Street is also known as 'Little East Gate' because it is located at the site of the Little East Gate. Although the city gate has not been preserved due to historical reasons, the 9 gates of the old city still deeply engraved in the hearts of the people of Shanghai.
