Tianjin Jingyuan

Jingyuan, located at No. 70 Anshan Road, Heping District, Tianjin, China (formerly Miyajima Road in the Japanese Concession), was established in 1921. Originally named Qianyuan, it was the residence of Lu Zongyu, the Beiyang Government's envoy to Japan. From July 1929 to November 1931, the last emperor Puyi lived here, renaming it 'Jingyuan', which means 'to observe changes quietly and wait for the opportunity'. Now, Tianjin Jingyuan is a 3A tourist attraction. After living here for two years, Puyi moved to the Northeast. The building now houses many texts, cultural relics, and photographs related to Puyi and Jingyuan. At the same time, the interior furniture has been replicated according to the original arrangement, restoring the scene of Puyi's life here. The architectural complex within Jingyuan consists of the main building, library, servant's quarters, kitchen, garage, etc. The main building was the primary activity area for Puyi, including a conference hall, Puyi's study, bedroom, Wanrong's study, bedroom, dining room, reception room, and other rooms. In front of the conference hall hangs a couplet written by the loyal minister Yuan Dahua, 'Sitting quietly to observe the wonderful, dwelling serenely to taste the harmony of heaven', subtly revealing Puyi's political intentions of making a comeback.
