As one of the key projects of Lanzhou City's "Breakthrough Project", the Lanzhou Ink Danxia Tourist Scenic Area is very unique in its geographical location. The scenic area is located in the northwest direction of the main city of Lanzhou, about 40 kilometers away from the city, spanning Yongdeng County, Xigu District, Anning District and Gaolan County, and is one of the closest Danxia landform groups to the provincial capital. The formation of Lanzhou Ink Danxia began in the Cretaceous to Tertiary period, with a history of 150 million years. The planned area of the scenic area is 407 square kilometers, of which the first phase of the tour area is 27.2 square kilometers, which is one of the Danxia landform scenic areas with the widest distribution area of the same type found in China. The scenic area includes a variety of landscape types such as Caiqiu Canyon, Cliff Danxia, Cliff Community, Peak Caiqiu, Danxia Elephant Stone, etc., bringing people a very high ornamental value. The Lanzhou Ink Danxia Tourist Scenic Area is vast in territory, diverse in landforms, and full of geological wonders. Here, the Red Mountain Bay landform is the main feature, and there are also unique landscapes such as Danxia cliffs, solitary peaks, secluded valleys, a line of sky, and wind-moving stones. As a record of the geological history of the natural world, the Lanzhou Ink Danxia Tourist Scenic Area can be described as a rare original ecological and high-quality landscape in the arid area of the northwest, and is one of the finest in the Danxia landscape. Due to the differences in climate and sunlight, the sunny and shady slopes present completely different landscape features. The sunny slope from west to east is mainly orange-red, while the shady slope from east to west is mainly dark green. The two types of landforms form a fascinating contrast beauty, constituting a series of peculiar scenes.
