Museo de Zamboanga

By establishing Fort Pilar as a National Cultural Treasure on August 1, 1973, Presidential Decree 260 made it possible to build the National Museum Western-Southern Mindanao. Following Frarrival .'s on June 23, 1635, work on building Fort Pilar began. Jesuit missionary engineer Melchor de Vera, Captain Juan de Chaves, 1,000 Visayans, and 300 Spaniards in Zamboanga were there. De Vera's masterpiece, Fort Pilar, was abandoned in 1663 and rebuilt in 1718. It served as a defensive fortification against Moorish, Dutch, Portuguese, and British assaults for many years. After World War II, it fell into ruin, but the National Museum of the Philippines brought it back to its former splendor.#tripblazers #museumquest
