I highly recommend the following TWO restaurants to eat at when you are planning a trip to Puerto Princesa.
1. Badjao Seafront Restaurant
- Great ocean view, beautiful entrance, delicious food and reasonably priced. Try the raw fish "cooked" in vinegar appetizer.
2. Kajoels Restaurant
- To enter the restaurant, you will be required to take off your shoes as to not damage the wooden floors. It is romantic, has great ambiance, and good island feels.

Places to visit in Puerto Princesa town
Puerto Princesa is the biggest city in Palawan. It is also where you can fly into to get to El Nido. The town itself isn’t too big. It’s a good size for you to go around by yourself with a motorbike. There is the Plaza Cuartel, which is a historical site where American soldiers were burned to death by the Japanese. There is no entrance fee. Right next to this place is the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. It is beautiful from the outside but I didn’t get to go in because I didn’t want to disturb the mass they were having. I am also not really sure if you can enter and look around when there is no service going on. These two places are usually part of the city tour package if you book one, but honestly, you can visit these yourself easily.

PUERTO PRINCESA
QUICK FACTS ABOUT PUERTO PRINCESA
By land, Puerto Princesa is considerably the second largest and the westernmost city in the Philippines.
Although a city, only a small concentration at its city proper particularly at Rizal avenue is bustling in people and transport. The greater part of Puerto Princesa still feels like a big town.
The mode of transport is via multi-cab – a small light truck that is common in the Philippines – to move from one barangay to another, and a tricycle – a three-wheeled bicycle based on a car design – to travel around the city and the nearby barangay. Regular fare is P12 for multi-cab and P10 for tricycle, except when going to and fro airport as it increases to P50.
Like in any parts of the Philippines, the locals can understand and speak English in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. However, here are some good phrases that might prove useful when you find yourself endearing with them.

Palawan Philippines
It boasts white sand beaches and islands, clear blue waters, a spectacular variety of marine life and shipwreck sites, and majestic towering limestone cliffs. If you love swimming, island-hopping, and diving, this biggest island province in the Philippines should be in your travel bucket list.
Palawan has over 1,700 pristine islands and islets scattered in its four main destinations: El Nido, Puerto Princesa, Coron, and San Vicente.
he majority of your activities in Palawan are highly dependent on the weather because they're located outdoors. That's why it's best to plan your trip around the dry months in the Philippines and check weather updates first to avoid canceled tours or rough currents, especially when doing island-hopping tours in Palawan.
Dry and Summer Season | November to May
The best time to go to Palawan and its destinations is during the dry summer season, from November to May. The warmest months are from March to April, the summer season in the Philippines. Palawan tours, especially the underground river tour and island-hopping tours, are best maximized during these months.
However, this is also the peak season since most locals prefer to go to islands and beaches during this time. It is highly recommended to book your tours in advance during the summer season. You can even avail of private tours if you’re in a big group if you prefer the exclusivity.
Climate and Weather

Puerto Princesa: Worth a visit
Puerto Princesa is the capital of Palawan province in the Philippines. The island's main airport is here and it's a convenient hub for visiting other places in Palawan like El Nido and the underground river. But Puerto Princesa is a destination in its own right, with diverse attractions.
Getting There - Flights from Manila and elsewhere arrive at Puerto Princesa Airport, which is unusually close to the city centre. It's actually possible to walk into town from there, though a rickshaw or taxi is not expensive.
Attractions - Puerto Princesa is famous for its beautiful, imposing cathedral. There are also several nice beaches.
Hotels - This is a major tourist area and there are many hotels and guesthouses.
Food & Restaurants - A range of food is available, particularly along the main street through town and in Chinatown. Its also home to Palawan's first microbrewery, which has a wonderful outdoor bar. Definitely spend an evening chilling there.
Money - There are few places to exchange money except for American dollars, and bank machines don't accept all types of cards. Pawn shops may exchange other currencies but the rate is very unfavourable. If you have currency other than USD it's a good idea to change it at Manila Airport. The rate is better than anywhere on Palawan.
Although you'll probably come to Palawan for other places, especially El Nido, it's worth spending a few days at the beginning or end of your trip in Puerto Princesa.

went to Puerto Princesa in December! and went to underground river at my first time!! it was overwhelming view and they gave us small telephone which introduces about history of there and how to be created by... etc. Fortunately they had Japanese so I could understand all correctly!! hahah They have some languages, so you must ask your language you can understand! It takes a few minutes to explore in a cave and the guide explained us randomly and it was funny sometimes ahaha I booked it with accommodation and I stayed at hotel for two nights and they had some activities. I totally paid about $80-82. Also the van picked us up to the hotel I stayed and lunch included also! super fun and amazing experiences I have had!! Don’t miss out if you come to Puerto Princesa:) I am sure you have a great time!!

It's not that the Maldives are unaffordable | this place offers even better value for money
This is a mysterious sea area, with stunning seascapes, delicate beaches, and a journey that feels like an adventure.
This is Palawan's El Nido and Coron. Due to the complex journey, not many tourists make it here, which is why it retains a sense of pristine beauty.
El Nido is mainly known for its seascapes paired with otherworldly mountainous islands, with many famous spots to check in, and lagoons hidden among the sea and mountains that are both mysterious and beautiful.
Coron, apart from having similar seascapes to El Nido, also has some small islands with delicate beaches, the fineness of which can rival the Maldives, and the underwater world of Coron is truly exceptional, with snorkeling views that are among the best in Southeast Asia.
Itinerary: Departing from within the country, one usually first travels to Manila, then from Manila flies to Puerto Princesa, from Puerto Princesa takes a car to El Nido, after visiting El Nido takes a boat to Coron, and finally flies back to Manila from Coron. However, if you are short on time and don't want the hassle, you can just visit Coron, with direct flights from Manila to Coron.
