Columbia Glacier Review

The feeling of the Colombian glacier is extremely shocking. The glacier area is very large. When you take a boat on the glacier and approach the ice, you can feel the beauty of nature. It cannot be described in words, and the photos taken by the mobile phone cannot show its magnificentness.

I have long heard that the best place to experience glacier kayaking is in Valdez. We chose the glacier kayaking activity of Anadyr Adventures (https://anadyradventures.com/day-trips/). After detailed inquiries, we learned that there are 2 places to choose from kayaking: Valdez Glacier and Columbia Glacier. Columbia Glacier is the largest glacier, and when the lake will float large and small icebergs. So we chose to participate in the 8:00 am to 5:00 pm kayaking activities in Columbia Glacier. First take the boat for 2 hours to the bay below Columbia Glacier, and you can see seagulls, seals and whales on the way. Then kayaking for 4 hours under the guide. Take a lunch break on the shore at noon and kayak for 2 hours in the nearby glacier lake after dinner. The scenery here is spectacular, the icebergs are beautiful, and the kayaking experience is exciting.

This should be considered Valdez glacier, close to Valdez, can be reached by boat in an hour, Colombia glacier is bigger and more shocking, but it takes a long time to get there, we don't have that much time. The first time I walked on the glacier, the tour guide was very responsible to try to determine which one could go and which one could not go, and then tell us. To visit these glaciers, you basically have to report a group. You don't have tools such as boats, and it's a bit dangerous.

Colombia's ice sheet is the largest relic of the world's largest ice sheet outside the Arctic Circle. It is beautiful under clear skies because of the high density of ice in the glacier. The snowmelt flows to the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic seas respectively, and is a natural treasure formed through four ice ages. It is worth visiting.

Colombia Glacier, the only glacier in the world that can be reached by car. The road linking Jasper and Banff two national parks, English name Icefield Parkway, is 232 kilometers long, the west side of the road is a magnificent glacier, along with glaciers, waterfalls, and colorful lakes, is one of the world famous most beautiful roads. Most of the roads do not have mobile phone signals, self-driving in this road must first download the offline map, of course, this road has no fork, lose navigation and go forward. Columbia Glacier (Columbia Glacier) is in the middle of this road, less than 100 kilometers from Jasper. Glaciers formed in ancient times and are the largest glacier relics on the planet except the Arctic Circle. Glacier exploration includes two parts of glacier hiking and skywalk glass plank road. There is no separate glacier hiking, but you can choose a glass plank road alone. The ticket price for glacier adventure is 79.95 Canadian dollars, and the price of a separate plank road is 54.95 Canadian dollars. The glacier adventure process is to buy tickets, queue up at the designated time by shuttle bus to the glacier transfer station, here to transfer to the world's only giant glacier bus (photo 5) to the glacier, the road is very steep (photo 6). After 20 minutes on foot to the glacier, you must return, go to the transfer station and then transfer to the bus to the glass plank road (Photo 7～ 8). It is very cold on the glacier and the wind is very strong. It only takes 20 minutes to consider the body of tourists, and to control the number of people on the glacier, improve the feeling of sightseeing, and protect the glacier.
