Qiongzhou Strait is located between Leizhou Peninsula and Hainan Island in Guangdong Province, about 80 kilometers in length from east to west, and the average width from north to south is about 29.5 kilometers. It is one of the three major straits in China. Qiongzhou Strait is an important passageway for maritime traffic in Guangdong and Beibu Gulf, and is also a shortcut for maritime traffic from Guangzhou, Zhanjiang to Hainan and Guangxi.
