Dar Zarrouk is one of the top-rated restaurants in Sidi Bou Said, and rightly so. The location is right in the middle of the picturesque village; in the summer months, it has a beautiful internal courtyard, and the main restaurant area offers views over the gulf of Tunis (for the highly sought after window tables). Overall it is a great setting to dine. Food is of good quality, with a wide variety of local dishes, made with quality ingredients. However the cuisine there is nothing exceptional but to be honest I still haven't found a Tunisian restaurant to blow me away. I gave it 4 stars comparing with similar offerings in Tunis -where it sits among the "best"- but in another city its food would be closer to 3-star. The restaurant is often packed with (affluent) locals dining there for special occasions or entertaining foreign business partners; a good indicator that this is by no means a "tourist trap". Prices are on the higher range of what you pay in Tunisia but this is to be expected given the location and type of cuisine focusing on fish, seafood and prime meat. Expect around 100 DT (50 US$) per person for a 3-course meal with wine. Overall it was en enjoyable experience and I would recommend the Dar Zarrouk as one of the nicest restaurants of Sidi Bou Said.
