Fang: Lane, market, neighborhood (neighborhood), handmade place. Lane: Hutong in the city, straight for the street, Qu for the alley, big for the street, small for the alley. The Fangxiang system is still the administrative organization of the civil system of the Fang, but the houses are arranged along the streets and alleys, directly open the door to the streets and alleys, and there is a sign similar to the square but no door in the streets and alleys. Fuzhou, an ancient city center with a history of more than 2,200 years, has still preserved the "three squares and seven lanes" from Jin, the basic pattern formed in the Tang Dynasty and the fifth generations, to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, especially the middle of the Qing Dynasty, developed to the heyday, becoming one of the important symbols of the historical city. After entering the archway of Nanhou Street, the ancient pattern of Fangxiang has been basically preserved. It used to be the settlement of Fuzhou literati and ink guests. The street buildings still maintain the same appearance as before. Most houses use brick and wood structures, and some modern buildings use brick-mixed structures, which are not two or three floors high. Walking on the street, I feel a strong historical atmosphere. Fangfang is connected, alleys are connected, and craftsmanship is wonderful, which reflects the characteristics of the residential buildings in the ancient city of Yue Yue, known as the "Ming and Qing Ancient Architecture Museum" and the living fossil of the Chinese city Lifang system.
