"South Xiangtang, North Xiangtang, North and South Xiangtang", Xiangtangshan Grottoes, one of the three major royal grottoes in China, is an important symbol of the transition stage from Datong Yungang to Luoyang Longmen in the history of the development of grottoes in China, and it is even considered to be the fifth largest grottoes in China. Xiangtangshan Grottoes mainly represent the Buddhist statue art of Beiqi, and are the largest art treasure trove left by the short Beiqi Dynasty. Fan Wenlan's "China's History" praised: "The ninth grotto of Xiangtangshan Grottoes can be compared with Longmen Binyang Cave, Gongxian Fifth Grottoes and Yungang major grottoes."
