If you're staying for a stopover, you probably don't need to buy it... haha I felt like it was a waste to just walk around the Van Gogh Museum this time. Next time, I should buy this and this and walk around a bit.

The Amsterdam City Card is a perfect companion for exploring this art capital, with its most satisfying feature being "free" entry to top museums, allowing you to see all the paintings you've been longing to see. However, there are some details to keep in mind: most museums only offer "single-entry" access and cannot be revisited. Furthermore, while the card covers city transport, some buses may not be compatible once you leave Amsterdam (e.g., to a suburban town).

Overall it is definitely not cheap, but you can travel on trains around Europe as many times as you want during the period, flexible and convenient, especially for last minute travelers. Keep in mind in countries like Spain, Italy and France, the reservation fee is expensive and can add up quickly, so you need to plan ahead. Also, in most countries, the app cannot be used in the tickets gates automatically, and must seek help from staff. Hope they can improve it.


