Three bridges spanning two pits Three Natural Bridges in Wulong consists of three natural stone arch bridges: Tianlong Bridge in Three Natural Bridges attraction, Qinglong Bridge in Three Natural Bridges attraction, and Heilong Bridge in Three Natural Bridges attraction. The three bridges span across the Yangshui River Gorge, with each bridge's span and height above the canyon floor exceeding 100 m. These stone bridges connect the mountain masses on both sides of the gorge, forming the unique "three bridges sandwiching two pits" view. The pits between the bridges are also known as "tiankeng" (sky pits). Travel route After entering the attraction, travelers can take the sightseeing elevator down to the tiankeng at the valley bottom, then stroll along the tranquil paths. Surrounded by lush greenery and flowing streams, they can look up to see towering cliffs with mountain springs cascading down. Take the eco-friendly bus to Longshui Gorge After the visit, you can walk to the attraction exit via an uphill path or take electric bikes to the exit. Travelers at the attraction exit can take eco-friendly vehicles back to the town's traveler center or ride them to nearby Longshui Gorge for further exploration.Chongqing · >100 km from downtown

Yangtze River Cableway has developed into a must-visit attraction for tourists in Chongqing. The cableway starts at Chang'an Temple (Xinhua Road) in Yuzhong District and crosses the Yangtze River to Shangxin Street (Longmenhao) in the Nan'an District. As you take the cableway and travel to the other side of the river, you can see the scenery of the skyscrapers, the Yangtze River, and the south bank of the river. There is a saying that “If you don't see the night view, you have not been to Chongqing”. So take the Yangtze River cableway so have a glimpse of Chongqing's night skyline. Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street

7.9
4.7/5
5.6k reviews
Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street is the long-established core commercial district in Chongqing, located on the Yuzhong Peninsula. Centered around the Monument to the People's Liberation at its heart, it extends along several streets including Minquan Road, Minzu Road, Zourong Road, and Bayi Road. The monument is an octagonal tower-shaped structure, originally built to commemorate the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and later renamed the Monument to the People's Liberation. Its four-sided clock at the top makes it a highly recognizable landmark in Chongqing, and most travelers visiting here take photos in front of it. Shopping and food are the two main themes of the pedestrian street: the area around the monument is densely packed with shopping malls and traditional department stores. When tired from shopping, visitors can turn into Bayi Road Snack Street, where sour and spicy noodles, small glutinous rice balls, and wontons line the street, allowing them to sample all of Chongqing's snacks while strolling. Hidden around the commercial district are Luohan Temple and Nengren Temple on Zhonghua Road, two ancient temples nestled among skyscrapers, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. At night, the pedestrian street takes on a different vibe: building screens and neon lights illuminate the area, and the square in front of the monument becomes a popular spot for night photography. Every New Year's Eve, many locals gather under the monument to listen to the New Year's bell and count down together—a tradition that has continued for years. The crowd is enormous that night, so those wishing to experience the atmosphere should plan ahead. A short 15-minute walk from the monument leads to Hongya Cave, making it ideal to combine both locations into a nightlife route.Chongqing · 2.4 km from downtown

White Emperor City Qutang Gorge Scenic Spot

7.8
4.6/5
4k reviews
The White Emperor City Qutang Gorge Scenic Spot is located on Baidi Mountain along the northern bank of the Yangtze River at the entrance of Qutang Gorge in Fengjie County, Chongqing. Situated at the western entrance of the Three Gorges, it faces Kuimen to the east, Baiyan Mountain across the river to the south, Fengjie County to the west, and Jigong Mountain to the north, approximately 10 km east of Fengjie County. Covering an area of 6 km², the attraction primarily consists of two major sections—White Emperor City and Qutang Gorge—featuring numerous historical sites that blend nature with culture, poetry with wartime legacy, serving as the starting point to experience the grandeur of the Three Gorges. Officially opened to the public in 1978, it was among China's first batch of nationally opened attractions. The attraction was originally named White Emperor City Qutang Gorge Scenic Spot. During the late Western Han Dynasty, Gongsun Shu built a fortified city in this strategic location. In 25 AD, he proclaimed himself the White Emperor and renamed the city White Emperor City. In 36 AD, the White Emperor Temple was constructed on White Emperor Mountain to worship Gongsun Shu. During the 12th year of Emperor Jiajing's reign in the Ming Dynasty (1533 AD), the temple began honoring Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang instead. Throughout the Tang and Song dynasties, renowned poets such as Li Bai, Du Fu, Bai Juyi, and Liu Yuxi visited, resided, or served as officials here, leaving behind numerous immortal poems, earning it the reputation as the "City of Poetry." After the Three Gorges Dam project raised the water level to 175 m, the White Emperor City, now surrounded by water on all sides, has become a "green island" in the "high gorge flat lake." Qutang Gorge, adjacent to Baidi City, spans 8 km and combines grandeur, wonder, danger, and steepness as the shortest, narrowest, and most perilous section of the Three Gorges. On its northern bank at Chijia Mountain, visitors can explore three cultural sites—Laoguanmiao, Daxi, and Wushan Ape Man—along with attractions like the Laoguanmiao signal tower, Chijia Tower, ancient cannon platforms, cliffside plank roads, and hanging coffins in Fengxiang Gorge. The southern Baiyan Mountain features remnants of Mengliang Ladder's ancient path, cliff carvings, Rhinoceros Gazing at the Moon Peak, and Ape Man Peak—showcasing 2 million years of China's human development history. Kuimen, also known as Qutang Pass, is a spectacular sight within the Qutang Gorge, renowned as "the most majestic under heaven." Located at the western entrance of Qutang Gorge, it has historically been a strategic military stronghold, guarding the passage between Bashu in the west and Jingchu in the east. The towering cliffs on both banks rise steeply like axes and knives, standing upright with the mighty Yangtze River flowing through the middle. The narrow gorge forms a natural gate, locking the river within its embrace—this is Kuimen. Celebrated for its grandeur, Kuimen was praised in ancient times as "the most majestic gate under heaven" and is now honored as "China's gateway of landscapes." It is featured on the background of the CNY 10 note in the fifth series of RMB.Fengjie County · 12.7 km from downtown

The Two Rivers Ferry is absolutely fantastic! The 15 yuan ticket is incredibly cost-effective! Here's a great route for families with kids: After visiting Jiefangbei and Kuixinglou, see Hongyadong during the day. If you're traveling with a 6-year-old and don't want to brave the crowds at Hongyadong at night, the stilted buildings during the day are just as beautiful. Afterward, take the Two Rivers Ferry to Danzishi, disembark, and explore Danzishi Old Street, Nanbin Road, and Xiahaoli. Then, take the light rail/bus or taxi back. The whole route is smooth and relaxing. The boat ride is novel and fun, and the kids especially loved it, remaining enthusiastic about exploring the shopping streets afterwards. At the pier, there's a large bowl of freshly cut watermelon for 10 yuan – watch it being cut right in front of you! It's sweet and refreshing. I highly recommend this route for families!

The service was excellent throughout! They picked us up from our hotel in the morning and dropped us off in the evening. Along the way, they enthusiastically introduced the scenic spots, the landscape, and Chongqing. The driver was highly skilled, and the car was clean and comfortable. Although the journey was long, we were able to visit the Wujiang River and rest in the restroom. The driver also shared some travel tips. I was very satisfied and happy; it was excellent value for money and highly recommended!

The Yangtze River Cableway truly lives up to its name as Chongqing's aerial bus! In just over four minutes, you soar through the air above the Yangtze River. Below, the river flows swiftly, while on either side, the city's buildings rise in layers, offering unobstructed views of the bridges and the river. The old-fashioned cabins exude a nostalgic atmosphere, providing an immersive 8D experience of the city's charm. Visiting in the evening allows you to admire the city lights coming on, creating stunning photo opportunities. A must-try when visiting Chongqing!

My stay in Chongqing was fantastic! The hotel boasts a superb location, within walking distance of Eling No. 2 Factory and Liziba Viewpoint, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The rooms were spotless and bright, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the amenities were complete. The free parking was a great convenience for travelers with cars. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in quick and easy, and patiently answering all my questions. Overall, it offered excellent value for money and is a top choice for any trip. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time.

The earth collapsed, mountains crumbled, and brave men perished; only then were the heavenly ladders and stone steps linked together. Above, the six dragons turn back the sun to their lofty peaks; below, the turbulent, turbulent rivers flow. Even the yellow crane cannot fly across; monkeys and apes hesitate to climb. The Wu Gorge, with the unwavering integrity of Prime Minister Zhuge Liang and the boundless imagination of Li Bai, blends these elements into its timeless landscape.

As the spotlight fell, red silk billowed from both sides of the stage, instantly enveloping the entire theater in a profound sense of history. When the actors playing revolutionaries, armed with wooden rifles, charged forward amidst the smoke and fire, an elderly man in the front row quietly wiped a tear from his eye. From the gunshots by the river, to that declaration that transcends over seventy years, every shout resonated with the audience's hearts. In the final scene, as the national flag was unfurled, the entire theater spontaneously erupted in applause. That deafening roar wasn't stage sound effects; it was the most direct empathy from everyone present for that groundbreaking era. This wasn't a distant story confined to books; it was the real, tangible footsteps of our forefathers.

During the National Day holiday, I visited the Dazhu Stone Carvings despite the rain. It was crowded, but the scenic area was well-managed; parking and ticket purchase were quick and convenient. Hiring a guide is highly recommended, and I especially enjoyed the explanations from the female guide. She explained everything thoroughly, offering helpful tips and being very patient, especially considering the slippery roads and crowds. The Dazhu Stone Carvings are definitely worth a visit. Take your time to appreciate them; many carvings tell stories, and the artisans' skill is truly breathtaking. If time permits, try the Youting crucian carp in the county town; it's absolutely delicious.
