Mount Emei is one of the four famous mountains of Chinese Buddhism, and it is also the temple of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. There are numerous Buddhist monasteries in the mountains that combine to give this place a holy and serene atmosphere. The scenery in the mountains are beautiful. The four seasons each have their own characteristics. If you are lucky, you can see the sunrise and sea of clouds. Do note that the monkeys in Mount Emei are notoriously naughty. They are not afraid of people, and even take the initiative to ask tourists for food.Emeishan City · 13.8 km from downtown

Leshan Giant Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddha, also known as the Lingyun Giant Buddha, is situated on the cliff of Qiluan Peak on Lingyun Mountain at the confluence of the Min River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River in Leshan, Sichuan. It is a colossal seated stone statue of Maitreya carved during the Tang Dynasty, standing approx. 70 m tall, with a single instep spacious enough to accommodate over a hundred people. Legend has it that the turbulent waters at the confluence once frequently capsized passing boats. To calm the currents, the monk Haitong of Lingyun Temple initiated the carving of the Buddha. Over several generations, craftsmen continued the construction, which took approx. ninety years to complete. On the cliff to the right of the Buddha, an inscription from the Tang Dynasty titled "Jiazhou Lingyun Temple Great Maitreya Stone Statue" remains to this day, revealing its original name—the Great Maitreya Stone Statue of Jiazhou Lingyun Temple. The common route to visit the giant Buddha is to first arrive at Lingyun Temple beside the Buddha's head, then descend along the winding Jiuzhaigou plank road built against the cliff. View the Buddha's spiral hair buns and robe folds up close, and reach the platform at the Buddha's feet to look up at the full figure. Only then can one truly appreciate the grandeur of "a mountain being a Buddha, and a Buddha being a mountain." Lingyun Temple has continuous incense offerings, and many travelers also join their palms here to pray for blessings. For a different perspective, take a boat cruise or view from the riverside of Leshan ancient city: the continuous mountain outlines of Wuyou Mountain, Lingyun Mountain, and Guicheng Mountain resemble a giant reclining Buddha facing upward, with the grand Buddha seated precisely at its chest—creating the marvel of "Buddha within Buddha." The river view also captures the grand Buddha's full profile alongside the scenery of three rivers, making it especially effortless for travelers with limited stamina or those seeking panoramic shots.Leshan · 1.1 km from downtown

The site was built in May 1994, integrating religious art, carving art, and garden art. It uses natural mountain extensions to form spectacular Buddhist scroll promenades. The Jinkou River Grand Canyon, which starts from the Wusi River in the west and freezes to the Jinkou River, spans the Jinkou River District of Leshan City, Sichuan Province. Hanyuan County in Ya'an City and Ganluo County in Liangshan River. It has a total length of 26 kilometers, the width of the valley is less than 200 meters, and the depth of the valley is 2600 meters. The peaks on both sides of the canyon protrude, and the dangerous rocks stand up, forming various pictographic landscapes, like people and beasts, lifelike, overlapping mountains, shady trees, waterfalls, various mountain flowers and wild grasses competing for beauty, forming a gorgeous scenery. , natural and elegant. There are many small ravines along the canyon, which are well-proportioned. Among them, the most famous one is the one-line sky. The cliffs on both sides of the gully are close to each other. When you look up, you can only look at the sky. Follow it to enter the Laochang Valley to the center of the ditch. This section is a few kilometers long. The road is even more amazing, with ravines and cliffs, gurgling streams, chirping birds and beasts, and sheep intestines trails, which are completely "malicious" manifestations of nature.Leshan · 78 km from downtown

A little too much commercialised as you can find a gift shop inside a temple or vending machine even at the foot of the Buddha where people stay in the queue and wait for a long time just to get there. But generally it's really worth your time and money. Don't skip Moruo Memorial Hall, it is the best view on Lingbao Pagoda from there.

The cruise is nice and breezy but just a bit too short. To travel to to the new jetty is quite a bit of hassle, need to walk about 15 to 20 mins before taking the internal bus. You can take a trishaw instead which brings u to where the buses are. The bus will then take u to the jetty point where u need to queue to board the vessel. Looking at the Buddha from the vessel is something difficult to describe which you need to experience it.

Wanfu Cave is definitely worth a visit! The cave is incredibly cool and refreshing, a natural air conditioner. The stalactites and stalagmites are in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and the lighting creates a wonderful atmosphere. The walkways are well-maintained, making it easy for both the elderly and children to explore. It's a great place to escape the summer heat and relax; I highly recommend it!

Great! Fun and delicious food! Long live Mount Emei! The cable car staff were attentive and helpful. The mountain was completely shrouded in fog, making it impossible to see the sunrise. It was quite nice though, as the sun didn't come out until noon. I saw the sun and each individual sun.

Baoguo Temple - where it all begins and endsYou know, there's a special magic to traveling returning to where you started and realizing you're a completely different person. That Mount Emei, which seemed like a pretty picture on the first day, has now become a part of you. That your knees remember every stone, and your lungs remember every breath of air at an altitude of three thousand meters. Baoguo Temple awaited us below. And it was the perfect end point.Baoguo, also known as the "Temple of Gratitude to the Motherland," stands at the very beginning of the trail, at the foot of the mountain. On the first day, we were in such a hurry to get going that we left it for last, like a delicious dessert saved for last. And we did the right thing. The temple is about 450 years old. It was founded during the Ming Dynasty, in the 16th century, and since then it has faithfully fulfilled its purpose: meeting pilgrims, seeing them off to the top, and welcoming them back when they descend, tired and happy. Can you imagine how many stories it has witnessed? How many knees, like mine, have trembled before its gates? In the Hall of the Seven Buddhas, I encountered the purple bronze Huayan Pagoda. The same one, with 14 stories and 4,700 small Buddhas on its body. But the temple's crowning glory is, without a doubt, the bell. A huge bronze bell, weighing over 10 tons. Locals call it the "Bashu Bell King" (named after the ancient kingdom of Sichuan). Transportation: Take bus #5 in Emeishan; it goes directly to the temple. The price is only 1.5 yuan. It's almost ridiculous: 1.5 yuan for a ticket to a place that will nourish your memories for years. Buses run every 10 minutes, so you won't have to wait even during rush hour. You can, of course, take Didi—it's about 20 yuan and takes 25 minutes. But if you're not as exhausted as we were from descending the mountain, the bus is a more authentic option. You'll get locals to join you, you'll enjoy the scenery outside the window.

Jinkou Grand Canyon is actually a section of the Dadu River Geopark within the Jinkou River. It features a reservoir and dam, a waterway highway and a suspension bridge, cliffside villages and a railway corps museum. The cliffs on the banks are colorful, and the rushing water below reflects the emerald green. The majestic beauty and grandeur of Jinkou Grand Canyon are truly breathtaking!

A light drizzle shrouded Mount Emei, with white mist drifting through the mountains, creating a scene of ethereal beauty. Ancient trees and babbling brooks added to the serene tranquility amidst the rain. Winding stone steps disappeared into the sea of clouds, and the distant sound of temple bells echoed softly in the mist. Though the grandeur of a clear sky was absent, the misty, Zen-like atmosphere offered a unique and serene charm to Mount Emei.
