East Lake Scenic Area

4.7/5
310 reviews

East Lake Scenic Area is located in the east of Pinghu City, and it is a city park worth visiting in the local area. Along the lake, there are "Eight Sceneries of East Lake" named Nancun Shudui, Hanzhu Ninghui, Jiulong Xizhu, Xipu Yujin, Beiyuan Musang, Anshan Xiaocui, Pagoda Chuihong, etc. There are many greening and cultural landscapes. There are very complete supporting hotels and catering facilities, and people often take wedding dresses by the lake. It is suitable for spending half a day or a day leisurely strolling along the lake. The East Lake Scenic Spot is not big, and there are very few tourists. Compared with Hangzhou West Lake and Jiaxing South Lake, it has less charm. The special feature is the watermelon lamp in the lake, which will light up at night, which is very beautiful. The street lamps are also in the shape of watermelons, which shows the status of watermelons in the hearts of Pinghu people. There are free tour guides in the scenic area, you can walk, you can also take a battery car, and taking a cruise is also a good experience. Among the many scenic spots, the Li Shutong Memorial Hall (Kowloon Opera Pearl) in Shutong Park is a landmark building in the scenic spot, which introduces the life and achievements of Mr. Li Shutong. The Baoben Pagoda here is one of the oldest existing buildings in Pinghu City, and the Baoben Temple (10 yuan) is one of the oldest buildings in Pinghu City. It was rebuilt in recent years, and it also has a bit of Zen. Turn south from Baota Road and enter Huancheng East Road, and at the corner is Nancun Shudui. There is a stone square at the entrance, and Binhu is a three-storey building (5 yuan) with a view of the nine peaks by the sea.

The Jiulong mountain range, a continuation of the Tianmu mountains, stretches east-west with over twenty hills, collectively known as the coastal hills of Zhapu. Viewed from afar, the undulating peaks and lush forests resemble a giant dragon resting by Hangzhou Bay, hence its name. Jiulongshan tourist resort is built against the mountains, integrating lake views, mountain scenery, canyons, forests, ocean waves, and ancient temples. Located in the core area of Jiulongshan national forest park with a forest coverage rate of 72.6%, it was approved as a provincial-level tourist resort by the provincial government in 1998. The resort spans from Chenshan ridge line in the west to Tongtian Island (Waipushan) in the east, from Dashan ridge line and Zhaquan highway in the north to Damengshan Island in the south, including the sea areas west and north of Chenshan, Huangshan, Gaogongshan, and Waipushan. With a total planned area of 10.12 km², it is a coastal leisure destination combining mountain-forest-sea-island ecological resources. Waipushan attraction Waipushan attraction is an important part of Jiulongshan tourist resort. Covering a total area of 110.8 mu with an altitude of 42 m, this place has been a coastal defense stronghold since ancient times. Today, it transforms into an exploration destination blending zen spirit, poetic charm, and spectacular mountain-sea views, featuring temples, sunsets, lighthouses, coffee... May you discover all the beauty here! It takes approx. 1.5 hours to walk from the attraction entrance to the vicinity of Waipu Mountain. Cross the Tongtian Bridge to reach the island. The island has a zen-like atmosphere, featuring Xiaoputuo Guanyin Temple and many Buddhist cultural views where visitors can listen to the waves and meditate. Coastline off-road camping site Location: South of the sea breeze gourmet camp at Pinghu Jiulongshan tourist resort. Highlights: The camp features an approx. 1.5 km off-road track with various terrains including steep slopes, S-curves, and L-curves, offering both fun and excitement. Three vehicle types are available: single for children, single for adults, and family-friendly, making it suitable for family outings. The track is adjacent to the east beach playground and sea breeze gourmet camp, providing a one-stop experience with beach games, dining, relaxation, and off-road racing. East beach playground Jiulongshan east beach playground is a natural seawater recreational camp in Jiaxing. Not only has it meticulously restored the natural landscape of the old bathing beach, but it also cleverly incorporates trendy elements like coffee and music barbecues, along with thoughtful amenities such as showers, storage, and a visitor service center. The new "water castle" has become a paradise for children: kayaking and water bikes shuttle across the blue waves, quietly reviving the liveliness of the former bathing beach. The family-friendly beach crawler, designed specifically for parents and kids, carries laughter as it slowly moves across the sand.

Xitang Historic Town of China

7.1
4.5/5
14k reviews

Xitang Ancient Town is located in Jiashan, Zhejiang Province, at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. Formerly known as Xutang, Xietang, and Pingchuan, it was the border area between the states of Wu and Yue during the Spring and Autumn Period, and is often referred to as the "root of Wu and corner of Yue." Unlike many overly commercialized water towns, a large number of local residents still live in the town. In the early morning, it's common to see elderly women washing clothes at the riverbanks, and in the afternoon, senior leisurely playing chess under the covered walkways, earning it the title of "a living, thousand-year-old town." Its numerous bridges, alleys, and covered walkways are its three main distinguishing features from other Jiangnan water towns. The covered walkways built along the river stretch for nearly a kilometer, concentrated in the Chaonandai and Beizhajie areas. Walking under them on rainy days keeps your clothes dry, hence the name "Rainy Covered Walkways." One side of the walkways is lined with shops selling local specialties and snacks, as well as residences, while the other side faces the river. Some walkways have benches with backrests, allowing you to sit down and watch the rowing boats go by when you get tired. During the rainy season, sitting under the walkways listening to the rain and watching the water offers a unique waterside charm. The town also has over a hundred ancient alleyways, mostly paved with stone slabs. Among them, Shipi Alley in Xiaxi Street is particularly famous; in its narrowest point, it's less than a meter wide, requiring two people to turn sideways to pass each other. Looking up, you can only see a sliver of sky, hence the name "Xitang One-Line Sky." More than twenty ancient stone bridges span the waterways of the ancient town: Yongning Bridge is a great vantage point overlooking the confluence of the rivers and the continuous rows of black-tiled roofs, and the scenery is particularly pristine when there are few people in the early morning; Songzi Laifeng Bridge has a canopy on its roof and stone seats for people to rest, and its design is quite unique among ancient bridges in Jiangnan; Huanxiu Bridge offers a distant view of layers of green tiles; Wan'an Bridge is the filming location for the ending scene of the movie "Mission: Impossible III", where Tom Cruise's chase scene between the bridges in the ancient town was filmed. Xiyuan and Zuiyuan in the town are exquisite Jiangnan-style gardens. The former is a private residence from the Ming Dynasty, with pavilions, towers, rockeries and fish ponds, while the latter is an exhibition hall for the works of the Wang family of printmakers; Zhongfutang and other deep courtyards retain the layout of old-fashioned wealthy families; Huguo Suiliangwang Temple and Shengtang are very popular places of worship; the Button Museum, the Chinese Wine Culture Museum, and the Jiangnan Tile-end Exhibition Hall hold local folk memories. As night falls, Xitang transforms into a different world. Red lanterns light up one after another, and bars line Tangdong Street, their music and songs creating a wonderful contrast to the daytime's rustic charm. A boat ride is highly recommended; a dock is located near the Songzi Laifeng Bridge, offering a tranquil experience as you watch the lights reflected on the water. Every few steps, you'll find stalls selling stinky tofu, tofu pudding, steamed pork with rice flour, braised pork belly, water chestnut cake, and sweet fermented rice balls. The old restaurants along Beizha Street offer authentic Jiangnan cuisine. If you visit in late autumn, you might catch the Hanfu Culture Week, initiated by lyricist Vincent Fang and now running for over a decade, where the town is filled with flowing Hanfu, enhancing the ancient atmosphere. For visitors seeking a quieter experience, stay overnight in a guesthouse in a quiet alleyway away from the bar street to witness the town's authentic charm before the morning hustle and bustle.

There are East Lake in many cities in China. There is also an East Lake scenic spot in Pinghu City. The scenery of this place is also good. I happened to visit Pinghu, had a good meal in the old street, and then went here for a walk. I saw that the whole East Lake is quite large. There are many small attractions along the lake. You can spend a day here.

The water experience at Haiyan Ala is excellent, with a wide variety of attractions. The giant water slide and water roller coaster offer thrilling rides, while there are also play areas suitable for children. The huge wave pool creates a fantastic atmosphere, and the evening sessions feature lively electronic music. The water is clean, and safety personnel are on duty. It's recommended to visit in the afternoon to avoid the hot sun. Overall, it offers great value for money and is a great place for summer water activities and weekend getaways with the kids in the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai area.

Jiulong Mountain Scenic Area is a good place for retirement, with winding paths leading to secluded places, deep mountains and dense forests, and mountains and sea connected. The mountains are not too high, and the winding slopes are slow and not tiring to walk on. Tangshan Park at the foot of the mountain is more suitable for morning exercises. The people in the town are simple and life is convenient!

The place is currently under renovation, but businesses are offering a 30 yuan coupon, which can be used to buy free noodles or 3 jin (1.5 catties) of freshly picked cherry tomatoes from the farm. The area is not crowded, the peach blossoms are in full bloom, the cherry blossoms have already faded, and the architecture is antique and charming, making it a great spot for taking photos.

Every time I visit Jiaxing, I always make sure to stroll through the Yuehe Historical District 🚶‍♂️ I love seeing the teahouses along the river, each with its own unique style 🍵, and I especially love browsing the dazzling array of flowers and birds 🌸🐦 When I get hungry, I grab some local snacks from the street vendors 🍡, or find a restaurant I like and savor some of their signature dishes 😋 Visiting on a rainy day creates an even better atmosphere ☔️. The traditional Chinese buildings along the water have a special charm in the mist 📸. Among many touristic cities with ancient vibes, Xitang was very outstanding. It is not very crowded in late October, but cozy and nice, with many stores and street food. As Xitang is not as famous as Fenghuang or Suzhou, the prices for everything, including souvenirs, are very modest. The boat trip under the red lanterns is the must!
