    Highlights: Shanggantang Village is located in Xiachengpu Town, 25 kilometers southwest of Jiangyong County, 2 kilometers away from Provincial Highway S325, 80 kilometers south of the tourist resort Yangsu, and 125 kilometers away from Guilin. According to the records of Yongming County, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty set up Xiemu County in Shanggantang in the 6th year of Yuanding (111 BC), which belongs to Cangwu County. Mu County was merged with Yingpu County to form Yongyang County, and the county seat was moved from Shanggantang. The whole village is surrounded by mountains and rivers, facing west to the east and Pingfeng Mountains to the east. The clear Xiemu River surrounds the front of the village, forming an excellent feng shui closure. Most of the houses in Shanggantang village are built in the late Qing Dynasty, with tall wind and fire walls, strict depth layout, elegant central axis symmetry, large area of Qingshui wall, crowned with undulating white belts, decorated with doors and windows, and leaking windows. The protruding horse head wall around the upper house has the typical architectural features of southern Hunan.
