Longweiguan Ruins Review

People who often live in Dali, or those familiar with Xiaguan, know Longweiguan. From the Heilong Bridge on the Xiqiao River, continue north, and follow the slope to the top, it is Longweiguan. The Tianbao War, which was overturned by General Li Yan's 100,000-strong army, happened here. It became the most important pass in Dali, Nanxun. Together with the Longshou Pass, Shangguan protected the ancient city of Dali at the foot of Cangshan Mountain and the shore of Bohai Sea. Longweiguan became the most important part of Dali history. It has also become the source of the name of Xiaguan. Along the Heilong Bridge to the north, first is Longwei Street, pick up the steps, and on both sides are simple houses, although small, narrow and old, but clean, full of life; Cool chicken rice noodles, snacks, Li's roasted braised pork, barber shop, tailor shop, "Jisheng" clinic, seal bookstore, small department store...because the slope of the street is very large, the locals also call it "Shoukangpo". Three or three people, sitting on the stone steps on both sides of the street, there are chatting, there are tired and resting, for a moment, people seem to leave the hustle and bustle of Xiaguan City, into a quiet, we once had but have been far away from us in time and space. Longweiguan City Tower is more than 200 meters away from Heilong Bridge. The city building is the architectural style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The wide city wall sets off the small gate of the city gate, the arched city gate is about 5 meters high, and only 3 meters wide, reflecting the majesty of the one-man Guan Wanfu.

This is one of the few historical neighborhoods in Dali City, there are many ancient buildings, many traditional old houses and residents. From here, you can go to Dali Confucian Temple, General Cave and some other temples. In recent years, historical neighborhoods have opened some bars and coffee shops. Of course, some traditional snack bars still attract many people from the north and south. For example, Li's barbecue, and the cold rice noodles and raw skins that can't remember their names, fried buns, etc.

Longweiguan was once a gateway to and from Dali and now seems forgotten.

Very small street, relatively clean, you can stroll around

Going up opposite the Heilong Bridge on the banks of the Xiaguan Xia River is Longwei Street. Both sides of Longwei Street are old houses, and many courtyards maintain the style of ancient buildings. Today, there are still many residents in this area, most of them have lived here for generations. Historically, this is the Nanxun State Pavilion Luo Feng built to resist aggression, Nanxun and Tang Dynasty "Tianbao War" is in Longweiguan to defeat General Li Yan's army, and then buried General Li Yan at the foot of Cangshan Mountain, which is now the general cave where locals worship and pray. Longweiguan is still a traffic road, not only the ancient tea-horse road into Tibet, but also the important city gate where merchants gather scattered materials. It is rumored that Longweiguan City Tower is more majestic than the existing "Shoukang Building" (North Chengmen Building). Longweiguan has rich historical and cultural relics, and there are a number of historical and cultural courtyards, and countless ancient wells and ancient trees.
