About Wenchuan: Located on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in northwest Sichuan Province, Wenchuan County is under the administration of the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. Wenchuan is the birthplace of the forefather of ancient China Yu the Great and one of the four population centers of the Qiang people. Wenchuan is the home of the giant panda and the location of the Wolong National Nature Reserve, famous for its resident pandas. Wenchuan also has the attractions of the primitive Dengsheng Forest and the high mountain meadows of Balang Mountain.
