Chaohua Temple is located in the south of Xinmi City. Its full name is Chaohua Ashoka Temple. It is one of the Shaolin lower houses. The temple was built during the reign of Emperor Huan in the Eastern Han Dynasty (147 AD) and has a history of nearly two thousand years. The monastery has one of the nineteen Buddha's true body stupa enshrined by King Asoka, which is listed as "Famous Temple Fifteen". The real Buddha relic in Chaohua Temple is now in the Henan Provincial Museum. Chaohua Temple originally consisted of upper, middle and lower temples. Today, there are only three hard mountain ash tile-roofed buildings in the upper temple; no tiles in the middle temple, and the only remaining thirteen-level brick pagoda in the Tang Dynasty was also destroyed in the "Cultural Revolution", and the current Chaohua pagoda was rebuilt in the 1990s; The Lower Temple, also known as the Golden Bell Temple, still has several ancient buildings. Nowadays, when tourists come to Chaohua Temple, they can also see the statue monuments, poem monuments, pagoda inscriptions left in the Northern Qi Dynasty, Tang Dynasty, Jin Dynasty, and Yuan Dynasty, as well as the rebuilt monuments in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
