This hotel is old fashioned, it has old decor, a curling rink, swimming pool and my children lived staying here. Beware breakfast is served until 9.45am and they have cleared the buffet away by 10am so you have little time to actually eat.

The Portpatrick Hotel is a stunning building, inside and out. Obviously, this is shown by the slightly dated decor, but I would imagine it is a listed building, and their hands will be tied regarding what modifications they could make to it. For me, it adds to the charm of the place. The rooms are clean and have exactly what you need for a comfortable stay. If I had one complaint, it would be the shower; it was poor and rarely had hot water. Again, I understand this could be due to the volume of people in an old building. This did not affect my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar and games room were great, and breakfast was great value served in a stunning dining room. Will definitely be returning one day, thanks for a great stay! Phil.

I cannot recommend too highly a stay at the Crown Hotel. We were warmly welcomed by staff, helped take our belongings to our room which had all the facilities one would expect. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless and although not needed by us, a room heater and also a portable room cooling unit available should these be required. There were ample toiletries in the bathroom and the same for the tea/coffee/biscuits tray. The highlight of our stay was that breakfast was included in the price we paid. It was a full Scottish breakfast and everything on the plate was of the highest quality and service was excellent. Once again, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Portpatrick, this is the place, right on the sea front.

From the outside (scaffolding etc) we wondered what it would be like but we were pleasantly surprised.  We had booked a standard room which was clean and tidy with all the bits we needed, kettle, tea/coffee, hairdryer.  The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.  Breakfast could be cereal with milk or yogurt, cooked breakfast, toast or croissant, big choice and all fresh and freshly cooked.  We had the cooked breakfast - WOW - lasted us all day.  The little town of Annan, all I can say is, if you don’t visit it, you will miss out on a treat. PS the scaffolding is for all the renovations which will improve the property.  We would love to return one day.

I was greeted as a returning customer but hadn’t been there for 17years  The staff were very friendly and helpful and polite  The service I received was excellent and the food was excellent that I received  The first room I stayed in was a little bit tired but as it’s a single bed room it was more than acceptable  The second night was a different room as I extended my stay and was a superior single and was more in price but I found it to be excellent  A great hotel with great staff and would recommend a stay if you’re passing through Lockerbie or need a hotel base in the area

We had a 2 night break our room was a Queen bed double room and dog friendly as is the hotel.the room was exceptionally clean and warm the bed was extremely comfortable the wardrobes and units gave ample storage and the shower was hot and comfortable to use .there are also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We ate at the restaurant both nights and breakfast was included also.The quality of all the food was excellent and all staff were very friendly and efficient ,Really enjoyed our stay and would hope to go back in the future

Had a really good stay, room was lovely, shame the bed was 2 singles pushed together but other than that the room was great, black out blinds perfect, clean and tidy, friendly staff in the bar down stairs just a shame no breakfast option. Would defo return!!

Perfect stay for the ferry but a lovely town and worth more than one night Really friendly staff who are genuinely pet friendly There was entertainment on when I stayed but due to an early ferry I’d missed it but the band members were nice too I’ll stay again and recommend Only had a pudding which was nice and the main dishes looked better than what I’d had elsewhere Over heard an awkward customer and the kitchen even catered for her Thanks for a great stay

Couldn't fault the Eskdale, from the minute we came through the front door the staff couldn't do enough for us the receptionist even carried our case up stairs for us.the room was lovely and clean and the bed was sooooo comfy . Cooked Breakfast was delicious too with as much tea and toast as we wanted ....tea yes toast no as we were full up from breakfast !would definitely go back .
