Facilities: The room has a wardrobe, TV, table, chairs, and a luggage rack. Anything else you need can be found in the communal kitchen. The hotel's location is very convenient, with the airport bus route 8 going directly there. Across the street are a garden and a university. However, it's worth noting that the soundproofing is extremely poor; even a small sound from the corridor is clearly audible. If there are children shouting and slamming doors, it gets very noisy. The university bar across the street can also be quite loud on weekends, and early in the morning, around 6 or 7 AM, there are delivery trucks downstairs which are also noisy. In short, if you're sensitive to noise, choose carefully. For those not sensitive to noise, this hotel is highly recommended and offers great value for money!
Cleanliness: Satisfied. Although the bathroom is shared between two or three rooms, it is very clean.
Service: The dark-haired staff at the front desk were quite warm and friendly, while the light-haired staff were just average.
This hotel is one of the better options in Kaikoura for whale watching. It offers free parking, and if the lot is full, you can also park for free on the roadside by the sea.
The restaurant downstairs is excellent. After whale watching, we didn't want to go far, so we just had dinner there.
As for the room, it's on par with domestic Quanji or Atour hotels, but not quite five-star. Still, for this area, you can't be too picky. It was clean and comfortable, which is what matters.
Beautiful place. Nice and helpful stuff. Very comfortable dorms and facilities. I’d just recommend to add more hooks and shelves in bathrooms. Lots of cosy common areas. I joined a couple of events and really enjoyed my stay.
The room was a bit small, but it had everything we needed. Its central Christchurch location made city walks incredibly convenient. The daily room cleaning service was a thoughtful touch, and the price was fantastic. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Christchurch!
Upgraded to a top-floor room as a platinum member. The room wasn't huge, but the view was great. Check-in at the front desk was very friendly; there weren't any Chinese-speaking staff, but communication was smooth. Crowne Plaza Christchurch boasts an excellent downtown location, within walking distance of Victoria Square, the Avon River, and the Cathedral. The rooms are modern, spacious, and very clean, with some offering city and river views. Breakfast is generous, and the service is professional and attentive. The hotel also has a well-equipped fitness center and other facilities. Overall, it was a comfortable and efficient experience, perfect for both business and leisure travelers, making it a top choice for accommodation in Christchurch.
The Novotel Christchurch Airport, a 4.5-star modern hotel under the Accor brand, opened in late 2017 and officially began operations in 2019, quickly becoming a landmark in the airport area.
Its convenience is exceptional; it's within walking distance of the airport terminal and right next to the International Antarctic Centre. The city center is about a 15-minute drive away, with smooth public transport connections, making it ideal for layovers and business trips. A 30-minute ride on the #3 bus, costing 6 New Zealand Dollars, will take you to downtown attractions like the Riverside Market commercial center, Christchurch Botanic Gardens, and Christchurch Art Gallery.
The hotel boasts excellent facilities, including 200 modern rooms equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows, soundproofing, smart TVs, and minibars. It features a scenic restaurant, a fitness center, multi-functional meeting rooms, 24-hour front desk service, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The environment is comfortable and elegant, making it convenient for both travel and accommodation.
Guests can also enjoy the convenience of a Woolworths supermarket and various dining options, including the International Antarctic Centre, all less than a 10-minute walk away.
A highly recommended hotel.
I stayed at this hotel for three nights in Christchurch. Overall, it maintained Hilton's usual high standards and was generally satisfying.
**Ambiance:** The hotel is beautiful, with vibrant flowers in the garden. Enjoying breakfast in the restaurant with a view of the garden outside the window was a real pleasure. The hotel is also very close to the city center. On a sunny day, it was lovely to walk to the city center, visit the Botanic Gardens, the Arts Centre, the Riverside Market, and the Cardboard Cathedral, all while strolling along the Avon River. I managed to check off many attractions without even realizing it.
**Cleanliness:** Housekeeping was prompt, and the room was clean and tidy. I didn't find any dirty spots.
**Facilities:** The hotel seems to be a bit old, so the facilities aren't brand new, but they are sufficient and well-equipped, including a hairdryer, iron, kettle, refrigerator, and air conditioning – enough for a short stay. The room's balcony was also nice, overlooking a lawn, perfect for some peaceful relaxation. The only drawback was the poor soundproofing in the room. The room next door frequently opened and closed their door, sometimes more than ten times between 10 PM and 1 AM, and at one point, it was every ten minutes or so. Each time, it made a huge noise that felt like the bed was shaking, waking me up multiple times. I even started to wonder if countless people were staying next door. This kind of thing is really down to luck, but better sound insulation would have made for a less disturbing stay.
**Service:** The front desk staff were very polite and enthusiastic during both check-in and check-out, which left a great impression. We were given two bottles of water and two warm cookies upon check-in, which was a thoughtful touch. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the suspected subtle racial discrimination from the restaurant's reception staff. I stayed here for three days and saw many other Chinese tourists. Not once did I hear the staff say goodbye or thank you to us when we left the restaurant. They would just stand there, pretending not to see us, but then smile and thank the Caucasian guests walking behind us. This happened every single time for three days, and they pretended not to see other Chinese guests leaving too. I have to wonder, is this how the hotel trains its staff? To provide different service based on race? These staff members, who were older and positioned at the restaurant entrance for greeting and guiding, were not the young, busy servers inside the restaurant, who did a great job. Based on this subtle differential treatment, I can only give the service three stars, no more.
Second time I've stayed here. First visit couldn't fault.
This visit
Requested a room with a balcony when I booked three weeks ago. This did not occur
Early check in as I was going to the cricket. Could not do
Issues with the tv and not getting the channel I wanted
Spa bath - did not work
Lying in the bath, looking at the toilet from under the eye line. Totally discusting, big build up of unclean scum
Even if the spa bath was working, no soap/bubble bath provided.
Really quite disappointing as my last visit was great
I stayed in North south holiday park on the day of arrival and the night pre departure from Christchurch. It is located about 5 mins drive or 45 mins walk from CHC international airport. You can book their airport shuttle ($5 per pax) during operational hours or the front desk can order a taxi for you at a cheaper price. Amenities are complete and cleanliness is well maintained. The only set back is there is no eateries within short walking distance except burgerking, but not a problem if you come with a car or you can cook at their kitchen(with utensils provided)
The beds in the twin room were spacious enough; one bed would suffice for a family of three or even four. The room itself was quite large, featuring a corner sofa area that was perfect for organizing luggage and other belongings.
The hotel's location was a bit tricky to find, as the name and logo weren't very prominent, leading us to drive around in circles a few times. If you're driving, I'd recommend doing some research beforehand to familiarize yourself with the surroundings.
The restaurant downstairs at the hotel served excellent food. If you're planning to go for brunch on the weekend, I suggest making a reservation in advance. In the evening, the handcrafted cocktails were top-notch.

Very Good
This is perfectly good accommodation for the price charged. We stayed in a budget cabin, with shared bathroom facilities - it’s a campsite, after all. Although basic, the cabin was clean and the beds comfortable. There was a shared kitchen where you could prepare meals and chat to other travellers. The bathroom facilities were clean and suitable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. To access the site from Twizel you would need a car.
The room itself was nice it was big enough to fit a family, it was clean. The service is good as the owner emailed us and giving us the instruction on where to park the car, how to enter the room ( as we arrived at 4am ).
The location is very near to city centre but room is a little small. The room is comfy and have a common area to cook and chill and relax. Overall is good.
Everything was great — the room had a washer and dryer, and there was a good variety of food options nearby through DoorDash delivery. Roadside parking was available near the hotel. Just that a dust ball spotted on one pillow
Great location within 100m to Christchurch airport, good gym facility and view of the runway. The whole hotel feel very new and modern. Although it’s right next to the runway, we can’t hear any of the noise at all, breakfast is great with lots of options.
MMiSs TEe 1963Arrived late afternoon..straight into the apartment Was lovely and clean and great facilties. Although we had an accessible room , shower was good. Free laundry facilties a bonus. Location very good. Encounter coffee was just a short walk away and the ocean was in eyesight. Loved Kaikoura even though was just a short stop en route to Nelson. Scenery amazing and Pier restaurant had great seafood. Very calm and serene atmosphere. Mountains in the distance and visiting the seals was lovely.
