In the next few months, long-awaited openings will crop up across the world: in London and Paris; Texas and Hawaii; Indonesia and Japan; Burgundy and Brussels. We'll keep updating this page as new hotels are announced.

Hotels opening in 2023

Opened January 2023.

After the success of Eastwind's former endeavors—first Windham, then Lake Placid—the luxury brand has doubled down on the Catskills for its first ground-up build. There are 30 accommodations to choose from, and those who've stayed at the aforementioned options will know the deal: unrivaled access to nature in free-standing, scandi-style cabins with abundant light and an impossible warmth to them. The Oliverea Valley entry also counts Dandelion, the first full-service restaurant outside of New York City from co-founder Daniel Cipriani. Not to be missed.

Whiz 35 minutes on the train out of London, and you can be here–in the heart of Kent, at a 17th-century Jacobean manor house with 10 bedrooms, a restaurant and walled gardens to explore. New owners Bradley and Kristie Lomas have a sparkly CV–Kristie founded former King's Cross space Drink, Shop and Do, while Bradley founded East London Pub Co. Food served in the restaurant, terraces and pub will use ingredients from the kitchen gardens, and there will be a 4,000 bottle wine cellar–perfect for long, lazy lunches in the sunshine.

Opened January 2023.

This box-fresh opening in Waikiki, a neighborhood in Hawaii's capital Honolulu, is set right on the Ala Wai canal. Interior designers The Vanguard Theory have brought the island into the interiors here; all natural furniture and tons of greenery that take the edge off the Brutalist architecture. There's a coffee shop, pool bar and an outpost of Redfish, an island-favorite poke spot–just eight minutes' stroll from the beach.

Opens winter 2023.

This eco-focused retreat in surfing honeypot Sumba is the first property from new hoteliers Fabrice and Eve Ivara, who bought this stretch of land after visiting the area in 2017. Before cracking on with the project, the team sought the permission of 600 locals to request ancestral approval, which was granted. Award-winning architect Gary Fell and Jakarta-based Bitte Design Studio have sourced local, sustainable materials to craft the suites and villas; all of which nod to the Ivara’s Parisian roots. A beach club, open-air cinema, spa and restaurant will be set across the land, with produce sourced from the on-site farm run by a local team, which also houses a school of agriculture for the community, a kids’ club and an activity centre for guests. This green-fingered ethos is central to the hotel–50 percent of its energy will come from its solar panel park and at least 80 percent of staff will be hired locally.

Opened February 2023

At last, the talk of the Left Bank is now open. This bespoke and beautiful hotel was redesigned under the discerning eye of AD100 designer (and notable Parisian) Raphaël Navot—the man behind the imminently fashionable Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers. Originally built in the 1950s, the Hôtel Dame des Arts is back with an elegantly industrial vibe. Special experiences on offer include a rooftop with 360-degree views of the city and a courtyard restaurant headed by Chef Othoniel Alvarez Castaneda with a seasonal menu fusing classic French cuisine with contemporary Mexican.

Opens February 2023.

We named Kansas City as one of the best places to go in 2023–and writer Caitlin Morton tipped the winter opening of Aida as one of many reasons to add the city to your list. It's from the team behind big sister and neighbor The Truitt, an eight-room boutique that won hearts with its local ethos. Aida promises more of the same: eight rooms, all gorgeously decked out and within walking distance of some of Kansas City's prettiest and most historic areas.

No corner of London has had a bigger glow up over the past 12 months than Battersea. Grade II-listed, coal-fired Battersea Power Station underwent a tip-to-toe makeover, almost 50 years after it was decommissioned in the 1970s. It reopened in 2022, stacked with shops, restaurants, cinemas and a theatre. In 2023, Art’otel–164 art-inspired rooms on the top levels of the power station–will open, with a rooftop bar and pool, a spa and a restaurant from Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa.

Opens February 2023.

Six Senses are on a roll right now–after opening Six Senses Ibiza, a Balearic newcomer that’s already leading the pack, the group is due to open hotels in New York, the Loire Valley, Rome, Austria, and Iceland. But we’ve got our eye on this mountaintop spot in the Swiss Alps. With the 2020 ski season cut short, the 2021 season cancelled and 2022 dampened by the Omicron resurgence, all eyes are on 2023. Two hours by train from Geneva, Six Senses Crans-Montana will have all the hallmarks of the glossy brand: a cavernous spa with dedicated spaces for kids and teens, and a sun terrace with views of the pistes.

Opens March 2023.

This Duxton Hill opening is the first Mondrian (currently found in the likes of East London, Los Angeles and Doha) in Asia. As you might expect it's a high-rise–but architects have cleverly drawn inspiration from the area's Chinese shophouses and art scene to become more rooted and artsy than you might first imagine. Rooms are flecked with locally commissioned art, there's a rooftop bar and pool–plus a handful of other restaurants, from a steakhouse to a laidback diner.
