Hostels in Taiwan, China

During my visit to Taiwan, I stayed at 109 Hostel, which offers both dorm-style 'Dome' rooms and private rooms. The 'Dome' rooms are shared dormitories, each with an en-suite bathroom that features a separate shower area and, importantly, a bidet. Please note that towels and toothpaste incur a small charge (around 5-10 NTD), but complimentary hair styling amenities are provided. A female staff member was waiting for my check-in, and they were accommodating with early check-in and luggage storage. The hostel is conveniently located, easily accessible by bus or MRT Main Station, and just a pleasant 10-minute walk through the city. Walking to Ximending is also very convenient from here. Despite being a mixed-gender dorm, I felt very safe and secure. Most guests were Japanese and Korean, with a few Westerners, and everyone was considerate and didn't disturb each other. The beds were soft and the pillows good, making for a comfortable stay. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Taiwan.

An unreal location and a beautiful room! While small, the room was very clean and tidy with a private bathroom and balcony. The bookshop attached to the communal kitchen was a great place to relax and the restaurant next door offered a great breakfast. The room came with breakfast vouchers which was an added bonus! I will definitely be re-booking next time I’m in Taiwan!

Our stay here was absolutely fantastic! The room was spotless and well-lit with great ventilation. The bedding was incredibly soft and comfortable, guaranteeing a wonderful night's sleep. The front desk staff were warm, attentive, and very helpful, answering all our questions and even recommending some great local restaurants and attractions. The hotel's location is super convenient for getting around and shopping. We'll definitely choose this place again on our next visit!

Overall, it was decent. The location is very convenient. My first impression was a little off because the mattress looked a bit old, but after checking, I found it was clean, so it wasn't a huge issue. The mirror above the sink was also a bit too small. For breakfast, I went down a bit late and there was hardly anything left. I hope these points can be improved.

Good location. 5 mins walk to the main bus and train stations, but a little far from the central area on foot, about 15-20 mins walk. Close to quite a lot of restaurants and cafés. The room was okay, quite clean overall, but my room was on the 4th floor and there was no elevator, so I had to take the stairs every day. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. The wifi could be improved.

Very clean and convienient hostel for solo-travelers. Especially the Upper floor is cozy and bright with a nice Community-/ kitchen area. I arrived in the Middle of the Night and my Check - In Materials were prepared on the table with clear instrctions. Definetly again.

You can only check in at 3 PM, and you must check in before 10 PM, or there won't be anyone to assist you. The restrooms are only accessible after you've checked in; there are none at the reception desk. Even if you're a guest, you can't use their restrooms. The staff will tell you the restrooms are being cleaned and are unavailable, directing you to a public toilet downstairs. I tried to use it twice (once before check-in, and once after check-out when I returned for my luggage), and both times the staff said the restrooms were being cleaned. Public toilets in Taiwan aren't always easy to find, so I wonder, is it really that hard to clean one restroom at a time? Couldn't they keep one available for guests in an emergency? I stayed in a small single cubicle, which was essentially a wooden partitioned room. The soundproofing was terrible; I could hear conversations from the next room, and every time someone walked by or opened/closed a door. The only upside was being able to keep my luggage with me in the room.

I booked the Meihau Travel Hostel this time, based on a colleague's recommendation. I originally planned to stay in a dormitory room, but the single room wasn't much more expensive, so I opted for that instead. Being a female-only hostel, it felt very safe. It's located on Hankou Road, which is a short walk to Ximending. This was my first time seeing a bathroom and toilet combined. The upside is that if you need to use the restroom while showering, you can. However, the downside is that if every room has someone showering, you'll have to wait to use the toilet. Unfortunately, there was construction happening in the building across from my room, so I could hear construction noise morning and night. The room had central air conditioning that couldn't be adjusted, and the fan speed was a bit too high, making it quite cold when sitting at the desk under the vent.

The front desk service was very good. The beds were triple-tiered, but if you have luggage, you can't bring it into the room because the space is too small. You have to store it in the luggage room, which is a bit inconvenient. The restroom is also outside the room, which is a bit inconvenient. And when I went to use the restroom, there was no toilet paper inside. I later realized you're supposed to grab it from your room beforehand, which made for an awkward situation.

Second stay, very good service, very good location, this time I experienced the bedrock bath, bedrock bath can detoxify, improve sleep quality, very good experience, sincerely recommend Youzhai is the first choice for staying in Yilan~
