Hostels in Canterbury, New Zealand

"I was very happy with the Blackhorse Hotel. The room I had was quite spacious , the facility was clean, the bed was so comfy, even had a large tv and I had a wonderful staff member that was accommodating and very friendly. A few minutes to McDonalds for easy meal. Not wanting to spend a lot on accommodation for my trip I was happy with my choice and would recommend for other travellers passing through."

"Great location right by a beautiful lake — perfect for the scenery. The accommodation was generally clean and comfortable, and the bathroom in particular was well-maintained. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, a toaster, and microwave. However, some of the cookware could use a proper clean as there is burnt residue on them, and a few of the stovetops don’t work reliably. Cleanliness could be improved overall, as there was some rubbish under the bed. The walls are quite thin, so noise can be an issue — you can hear people walking up and down, as well as doors banging from guests coming in and out of rooms. It’s worth noting that guests need to bring their own towels, make their own beds on arrival, and strip the sheets before leaving. Overall, a pleasant stay in a fantastic location, with just a few practical improvements needed."
