Ischia Porto
A return to this Ischia hotel after 18 years. It has changed in some ways - less a**ospheric perhaps and a tad less friendly - but it retains the wonderful location, the sea vistas from the terrace where meals are served alongside a summer bar with a nightly piano singer and the well appointed rooms. Our sea facing balcony was nicely shaded during the very hot afternoons so well worth the upgrade. Room was comfortable with walk in shower. We were given a nice complimentary Prosecco bottle and fruit on arrival, but water is not free in the room (€5 a bottle) which doesn’t feel right in a 5* hotel; nor does the woefully intermittent Wi-Fi reception. The spa was good, with excellent massages. Breakfasts were decent buffets, but again a tad surprisingly, omelettes attract a €15 surcharge. We had a nice dinner on the terrace our first night, but enjoyed some of the excellent local restaurants other nights. Overall a nice hotel, but it could benefit from a more generous attitude to its guests in the small things.

Ischia Porto
Heaving read previous reviews I was worried about what to expect. The room was down several steps of stairs, which meant I was reluctant to return to my room unless I really needed to but the room was bright and airy with a view of the tennis courts and gardens. (I was expecting a “dungeon experience” after reading previous reviews) so was pleasantly surprised. The room was lacking a kettle, as I would have liked to be able to make a coffee or sterilise equipment. Towels were replaced daily which wasn’t necessary and better environmentally if we got to choose when they were replaced. As a Vegan couple, we were worried about what would be on offer and having to survive on food that we bought with us (lots of choc au pains) which we didn’t eat many of. Breakfast had a variety of breads, vegan friendly Marge and a variety of jams. There was always fresh fruit, tinned peaches and granola to enjoy. There was a choice of soya milk or rice milk to have with cereal too. The staff were friendly and the coffee was great. Toast was available on request and tomatoes were available. The food available at the poolside was not suitable for vegans, or at least no vegan option on the menu. The food we saw others getting looked really nice but was expensive as portion sizes were enormous. We didn’t ask for anything vegan, instead going to the shop nearby. Dinner was served quite late, from 8pm which would be really hard for younger families. It was often past 9:30 by the time we got to dessert which meant hard on the digestion before bed. As every meal was usually a 4 course meal, we were interested to see what the vegan option would be. Not every course was to our tastes as my partner dislikes tomatoes and quite a lot of veg. We took the view that with four courses, we could pick and choose what we wanted without going hungry. The starters were often grilled veg, olives or salad or focaccia (my favourite). Mains were risotto, pasta, soup. Seconds included schnitzel with rosemary roasted baby potatoes, tofu etc. every day was very different and we particularly enjoyed our waiter trying to explain what we were having, with him really struggling at times to put it in to English. Our waiter was lovely, and amused as he tried to work out what we could have. His English was good, but translating vegan menus was quite challenging. The first few days of arrival were harder as it was clear they hadn’t had time to think about a vegan menu and what could be done, but as the week went on, the service was much faster and menu had been planned in advance. the food was amazing and we felt well cared for. I was put off buying wine as the wine menu was so expensive. At 25 euros a day, over the week the bill would have been 175 euros to have a bottle of wine with each meal, then a further 3 euros a day for a bottle of water. The cost of wine at the local shop was only 1.80 euros, so we were better off having wine before dinner and just buying a glass each for the meal, wh

Ischia Porto
This hotel has it all. Great location- walk to the port or the castle; on the ocean and near the main shopping district. They have a shuttle that will take you to the port. Taxis on Ischia are very pricey (no meters that I could find) so the shuttle is a great bonus. The building has a wonderful old world feel, and the rooms are quiet and peaceful. The beds are comfortable and the linens crisp (I love that). Lots of soft towels as you use them. The thermal pools are perfect and clean, and a joy to use even when the weather is a bit iffy. The beach area is fine, with lots of chaises and a beach attendant who was attentive and friendly. The hotel staff could not have been better. All the front desk staff speaks good English and are very helpful. Got a great recommendation for dinner in town (Ristorante Dortas - no need to go to Naples for Pizza, as this one is fabulous) The breakfasts are wonderful and the chef makes great omelettes. Fresh squeezed OJ to start your day. The restaurant staff are terrific, all in white suit jackets like the finest (old world) establishments. The housekeeping folks are always greeting you happily (“buongiorno!”) I would like to say congratulations to the Manager, Mr. Cipolleta. Somehow the staff is always ready to help and seem to enjoy their jobs. To hear the staff laughing with the guests is wonderful and a rare thing. It’s not easy to find a hotel of this quality.

What a wonderful hotel. The service was impeccable and the breakfast was bountiful and delicious. The excursions offered through the hotel were reasonably priced and just what we wanted. The rooms were large with comfy bedding and well supplied with towels and amenities. We had a balcony with table and chairs and w view of the port and you can hear the waves at night. It is a peaceful spot with great restaurants and a bus stop to get anywhere you need to go. I would recommend this hotel to anyone interested in avoiding touristy congested areas and looking to feel pampered. My only complaint may be that they could update the bedspreads. They are dated. The hotel has an old school vibe with modern amenities. You won’t be disappointed

Lovely hotel, right on the sea. The decor was lovely and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. There was a good choice of food for breakfast and dinner, absolutely not just bananas and chips for breakfast as one reviewer stated?! Breakfasts have all the usual options, fresh fruit, yoghurts, pastries, bread, toast etc. For the cooked breakfast they have the frankfurter type sausages, but also “real” sausages and bacon. The beans were good quality too. There is a chef making omelettes to order and these were very good. Dinner was very good, lots of choice and variety. We enjoyed the food and the fact that they serve some cooked vegetables cold wasn’t an issue for me. Italy is a much hotter country than the UK, and if I want a piping hot roast dinner I can cook that at home. The shuttle bus was prompt and reliable, we always managed to book it when needed. We went on a few trips from Meta station which was about a 25 minute walk, uphill but not too taxing if you’re in reasonable health. You can also get the public bus to the station or to Sorrento. The stop is just a few minutes away from the hotel. Our room was a double with sea view and balcony in the main building. I would recommend this rather than the annex, although the rooms in there are very nice but the sea view is spectacular. I would have preferred higher partitions for the balcony to give more privacy from the rooms next door, but this didn’t spoil our holiday. There was a good shower and a very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided and topped up daily. Drinks at dinner or from the bar were quite expensive but that’s the same with many hotels in the area. We had a super holiday, in this beautiful region and were very happy with our choice of hotel.

We booked through booking, we had already been in this facility, we were well, I make compliments for breakfast, abundant and quality, five stars. But I would advise the owners to think about the evening entertainment of the hotel's customers, if not a little music underground outside sofas, because the customers would appreciate it, as they are in the outskirts. I would like to advise owners to think about reducing the price of the menu at both lunch and dinner, since only the tractor is favoured the headlight because much cheaper.
