Such a WONDERFUL hotel I never stayed before. This is a new, eco, comfortable & beautiful place that I don’t want to leave. It is very suitable for any tourists especially for family, I will highly recommended & must visit again next time.
This hotel has a few downsides. First, if you're staying on the third floor, you'll have to carry your own luggage as the hotel staff are few and you have to do everything yourself. Second, breakfast and dinner are just mediocre, so don't expect too much, especially since this is only a mid-range onsen hotel. Given that the room rates were particularly expensive for New Year's, you really can't have high expectations. Still, being able to come here for Christmas to enjoy the snowy mountain scenery and ancient hot springs is already a wonderful escape from city life. We stayed here for five days, and the most unsatisfactory part was being forced to eat breakfast at a fixed time. That's simply unacceptable when you're on vacation. The Japanese truly are incredibly stubborn!
This hot spring hotel has a quiet environment and thoughtful service! The spring water is smooth and soothing, the rooms are clean and elegant, and the meals are exquisite and delicious. The friendly smiles of the staff make people feel warm. Highly recommended whether it's a couple's vacation or a family trip, I will definitely visit again!
The room was very spacious, and the facilities were decent. The hotel staff were very friendly. There's also a private onsen available for an extra charge. You can buy lift tickets and rent ski equipment directly at the hotel, and the prices are slightly cheaper. The hotel dinners tend to be kaiseki-style, different every day but feeling somewhat similar. Breakfast is a buffet. Overall, it was pretty good, but the lack of a washing machine was inconvenient, especially since clothes can get a bit smelly after skiing.
There is a parking service, but I believe it is not convenient to drive, the only thing is that you can choose not to eat dinner, outside less than ten minutes drive have restaurant options, although the hotel has been a while but maintenance done very well, I do not know if the room has a private soup, public soup used 3 times is no one 😅 , 08:00-10:00 tea and coffee!
An old style hotel with a beautiful Onsen and nice foot spa. Friendly staff who tried their best to explain things in English. Nice free transfer service to and from Yamagata station but need to book 3 days prior. Breakfast and Dinner options are fantastic and very tasty. Also walkable to the Cable car station.
Laoqian Premium Hotel だけあり Equipment も Pick-up も Full く Problem ありません.
However, one thing I was worried about was that I went to the dining room at the designated time at dinner, but I had to wait a long time. There was no more like a string to hold the sleeve of a yukata. It may have happened, but it was very disappointing because it was a luxury inn that I rarely go to.
A great experience, a hot spring hotel that you can't miss when skiing in Zao. The outdoor hot spring is great, the breakfast and dinner are also rich, and the service is very good. Because I left too early, I didn't feel the farewell ceremony, which is a little regretful. I look forward to staying next time!
I stayed here on a trip from Kyushu.
I was able to spend a comfortable time.
The staff were also greeted calmly and hospitality was full.
The rooms are also neatly arranged, and I am very satisfied with the fact that there was a cold towel in the refrigerator and that I could choose a yukata.
The bath is bright and the large communal bath has not fallen one hair, it is very clean, the hot water is comfortable, and I usually don't take a bath in the morning, but I just entered!
And the meal is very satisfying with dinner and breakfast! It was just right with a gentle taste and not much, not much.
I was able to spend a relaxing time in the lounge. The grapefruit juice was very delicious!
I felt that the whole hotel was worried about detail.
I want to stay again. It was a good memory. Thank you very much.
The hotel provides a shuttle bus service, which is provided immediately. I originally thought that it only provides a shuttle between the Zao Onsen Bus Terminal and the hotel, but in fact, the hotel also provides a shuttle bus service when going to the cable car. I really appreciate this service! The hotel's location is great for skiing! The photo is taken outside the hotel gate; we booked a double room, but actually stayed in a triple room, so it was relatively spacious; in addition to the theme dishes for dinner, there are other all-you-can-eat dishes, so you will never go hungry, and the breakfast is also all-you-can-eat, which is impeccable; to sum up, if I go to Zao Onsen again in the future, I will still choose this hotel!

GGuest UserWhat a gem of a place! The special thing about this place is that there are 5 private outdoor onsens as well as a gender-segregated public bath and one mixed gender outdoor bath (for this one, you need to wear a bathing suit). If you are shy of exposing yourself or like taking photos, then those 5 private outdoor onsens are just perfect. I went in the autumn, which is cooling already and I can imagine what a treat it will be in winter with all the snow.
The hotel is located almost to the top of the hill. Either drive or call them ahead and they will pick you up and drop you off in the vicinity.
My room is quaint and Japanese-styled. I didn't pay for the meal package as I knew I'd would be busy trying out all the onsens available. They are all open 24hrs. By the way, private onsen number 1 and 5 are the best and most picturesque!!!
I'm doing all a favor and posting all the pictures of the private onsens.

คคนสวยมาแล้วจ้าReally great hotel in Zao onsen. The location is easy to find and free parking for guest. The room is big and clean. I love the window in our room see the snow falling and small pond as well. We didn’t booking the dinner & breakfast so I don’t know the food taste. However, onsen is really great!! I love outdoor onsen that you can see the view of Zao mountain while bathing and snow falling to your head!! but just scare of bear. So nice to stayed here!
NNetotrevinoWoah! This is one of the best ryokans we’ve been to. The staff was super attentive and could speak some English, the rooms were amazing (see the photos!). The onsen in the room was fantastic so there was no need for us to go to the public or private onsen downstairs.
The hotel is located 3 minutes away from the bus station and conveniently situated near everything. We’ve stayed at other ryokans but this one was top notch! We strongly recommend to stay at this place and will try to come back again with friends and family. Oh! The food was wow, too! We had breakfasts and dinners included and the sukiyaki dinner offered Yamagata A5 meat which was to die for. Breakfast was also great!
GGuest UserExcellent authentic ryokan experience. Twenty minutes drive away from Zao ski area. The room was spacious and clean with comfortable bedding that kept us warm throughout the nights. Breakfast was perfect. Onsen is minimal and not big but the water quality is excellent. Our skin was moisturized throughout our trip without the need for body lotion! The hosts helped us with restaurant reservations, led us the way, and even drove to get sushi dinner for us on New Year’s Eve when we were out of options on food. And when we needed help with our car rental, they were again helping us deal with the problem. Though they do not speak much English, their kindness broke all language barriers. Their hospitality and warm service minds are beyond words. We recommend this property to anyone seeking a home away from home. Thank you again!

GGuest UserOverall the experience was average. For the same price at other hotels I've been to, the service, room quality would have been much better.
The facilities are generally aged. The room was old a bit dusty and some parts of the tatami floor had sunken in. Service was pleasant.
Few important things to note:
- poor ventilation at meal times meany the whole hotel and your room would smell like meat.
- shuttle service only for to and from the bus station. (Most other hotels provide shuttles to the ski lifts)
- the ski lifts are about 10-15mins walk away with full gear on (boards, etc)
GGazing EyesAfter reading the introduction of this hot spring hotel, Zaimu Sakaeya Hotel was once a hotel in a logging camp and a timber wholesaler with a history of more than 100 years.
The entire hot spring hotel uses a large amount of logs for decoration and construction, which is very unique. The single room I stayed in was very new and very clean.
Breakfast is a set meal, and miso soup, tea, drinks, etc. are also provided. At this price, it's a great value.
Since there is no shuttle bus, it takes about 15 minutes to walk from Kaminoyama Onsen Station to Zaiki Sakaeya.
