Our experience was the total opposite of some who rated this hotel poorly. We were very happy with everything at this hotel. The location is central to everything and is surrounded with great shopping outlets and complexes. The tram system runs close by & it is easy walking distance to the Chinatown area which was very interesting with great restaurants. Our room was much better then expected with separate living & sleeping areas. The kitchen is self contained and had everything you could want. A clothes washer/dryer was in the bathroom along with a good sized shower with plenty of hot water. The room was clean and serviced on request. There is that advice on their website and also at the front desk. explaining that it was due to Covid & lack of staff. Those reviewing less favourably must have missed that. Our room was serviced very well when we requested it each 2nd day. That was more than acceptable. Praise to all staff including the reception area where we found staff to be extremely helpful. Well done them all.

This is a nice modern hotel. It can be difficult for a taxi driver to find but the is a sign on Lonsdale St. Get out of the taxi/Uber and walk up Timothy lane and go to the 6 floor for reception. Reception were very good and I had a small but fully equiped standard room on the 19th floor with a good view. The room have a variety of pillows a comfortable bed and I had a good nights sleep. The room was very quiet. Breakfast is on the 7th floor and was standard with a cook to cook omelet’s or your style of eggs. The staff were very pleasant providing you with a nice coffee or tea. Across the road is many restaurants in Hardware lane. The hotel’s restaurant was also good and I had a nice meal. Checkout was easy. I did not use the car park so no details. The hotel is close to Transport trams, buses and Melbourne central station for the Metro. A nice hotel in the mid price range

I stay in hotels A LOT! But except for one other occasion, I've never bothered to leave reviews. But this place is one of the more questionable hotels I've stayed at for several reasons. The hotel: - they charged my credit card the full fee a day BEFORE I checked in. They have a 24 hr cancellation period with minimal one night charge yet they still took it upon themselves to charge me before I actually checked in - very unethical - they want a photo of government issued ID. Weird, with all the crazy data breaches occurring, it's recommended private entities DO NOT store this unnecessary data, yet they still expected a copy. I didn't provide it, just let them sight it upon check in - the pics used to promote the apartments are stretched out and misleading. The actual apartment is small, very small if you consider the costs incurred - photos online make it look like there is a bathtub, (and when I called the hotel to check, the person I spoke to told me there was a bathtub) but there actually isn't any which is VERY inconvenient when travelling with a companion who can only use a tub (for accessibility reasons) - they don't do housekeeping every day. You can ask for fresh towels but goodluck getting a vacuum or dirty bin emptied. The actual apartment - there is no ducted air conditioning. On a hot day (was 35° when I checked in) I needed to blast the AC at 18° (we froze in the living area) just so cool air can seep into the bedroom and cool it down so we can sleep - the actual apartment was very dirty. Tiles had previous occupants hair on the floor, carpet is stained in multiple locations, glass doors and outside balcony railing dirty with hand prints and smudges - minimal crockery and cutlery provided. Only one drinking glass provided - no tea towel provided - phone in room not set up. Had to call reception from my mobile to report issues - oddly there are very few electrical ports in the living area. Difficult to charge devices - there is no shelving in the wardrobe, and it's difficult to tidy anything up or pack things away. Only one storage shelf and you need a ladder to access it - the railing for the wardrobe is so high, one needs to be over 7 foot to use it - to access the bathroom, one needs to go through the bedroom so it's really hard to have one person stay up while another sleeps - the bathroom doesn't have a drain so any access water needs to be mopped with the towels to avoid a slip hazard (problematic as they only give you 2 towels and don't do daily room service) - there are NO clothes hooks in the bathroom The positives: Overall the staff were pleasant and friendly. Every staff member I spoke to in person was hospitable, helpful and very kind. The blockout blinds were good and the sound proofing was great. They also accommodated late check out. I felt very disappointed as I travel to Melbourne monthly and was very disappointed to pay premium costs for accommodation but get what I consider inadequate facilities. I'd only recommend s

We booked a loft room and had been eyeing off this hotel for over a year as one we would like to try. Unfortunately upon checking in the room was not at all what was advertised. The loft rooms look as if the living and bedroom space were all in one however the bed is upstairs in an open style loft. This would have been great for us because I could have relaxed on the bed (5mo pregnant!) whilst my husband watched tv and we could still talk etc. upon check in, we were allocated a room (510) which were 2 completely seperate floors with small awkward stairs between the two. This difference completely changes the dynamic of the space. Additionally - the loft rooms look bright with natural light, the room we had was extremely dark and looked out into a wall. I wonder if this was even a loft room because there wasn’t really anything similar about the spaces. A loft and a seperate floor are not the same thing? Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked so we could not be moved - and after finding make up stains on the unused (by us) hand towel, the bath being small and grotty, The couch being so sunken your legs hit the actual structural part of the couch making it too uncomfortable to sit on, and the whole place having a dark/dirty feel to it, we requested that we be able to cancel the booking with no penalty. At first we were told we could leave but wouldn’t be refunded, luckily we pointed out we hadn’t paid! Then it was said that’s fine, in that case we will keep your $100 deposit, luckily, no one had ever taken that from us either - so we were allowed to leave without charge. All in all - I would like to thank the staff. the gentleman we dealt with was only in his 2nd week and he was SO helpful and I really do appreciate the service he provided. We would have loved to stay, but at 5 months pregnant planning to spend the night in the room while my husband attends a show - I just did not feel at all like I would enjoy the time in the room. Had we both been going out, I would have been less bothered - but we shouldn’t have to feel like not spending time in the hotel is the only thing that makes it okay! We are now sitting in a hotel 500 metres away, same price, considerably cleaner and much more comfortable!! Will definitely remember to check trip advisor before booking next time because I can see similar reviews. Again, thank you to the staff we spoke to - they were a great reflection on the mantra brand which I have stayed at many times across many different locations and normally love and enjoy :)

Overall, very satisfied with the stay. The room I got was pretty spacious. There was CCTV on the room floor and hotel guests can only access the level that they stay. The hotel is also within walking distance/free tram ride from many tourist sights. Would have been better if they have a drinking water refill station.

Great hotel. However it seems that parking around here isn't so convenient due to spaces. And thus I took the vallet which is 80 per day. A little pricey from my own view but maybe no other choices I guess ? The area is amazing to town hall and have almost full walking access to east Melbourne already. Everything would be in 3km range which is definitely walkable. Breakfast is impressive and staff are extremely helpful. Very good

Very budget accommodation. My room was on the 5th floor and had a good comfortable bed. There was an old wardrobe with only 4 coat hangers. I was staying for 7 nights so really coathangers are very cheap so a few more shouldn’t hurt the bottom line. There was a sink, kettle and tea & coffee supplied. There was also a small bar fridge which unfortunately completely froze my orange juice and milk. Asked reception to do something but nothing happened. Bathroom was clean and shower was good. Room was not serviced at all for the full week. Although 2nd top floor quite a lot of noise from establishments in the nearby lane at times, very very late including a few huge arguments. No drawers provided but a few shelves for clothes etc and a small table. Overall quite basic and only suitable if you are only going to sleep and clean up there but offset somewhat by the cheap rate. Probably look for a little better next time.

I booked these apartments on a recent visit to Melbourne and wanted to spend a few days in the city. Location is excellent. Very close to flagstaff station and most places were within walking distance. Staff were very helpful when I needed to leave my bag as I arrived a bit early and needed a later check out. Their checkout time is 10 am so not the most helpful. I had an apartment on a higher floor with 2 bedrooms. They were clean and comfortable. There was a fabulous city view from one of the bedrooms. Bathroom was small but functional. I was comfortable inside the apartment. On the flip side, there were just 2 elevators servicing the entire complex. Most of the time one was either not working or stuck on the basement floor. So you end up spending quite a long time waiting for an elevator. Somehow the elevators and common area did not give a good vibe. It felt clean and unkept. On the first night I kept hearing sounds. I thought someone has broken into the apartment and went out of the room a few times. Following morning I figured it was from the apartment above me. But it meant I hardly slept. It was the same tue second night too but I just ignored the sounds.

Before I went to Melbourne, I had had the negative experience of Mercure in Thailand and I didn't want to choose it, to be honest, but I didn't have any choice because the price and location were better than other places. Wow. I was surprise because everything was unexpected I can say thanks to the hotel 1.The location is good and it is located in the CBD. Convenient transportation, lots of Asian restaurants, supermarkets and convenient stores. It is not far from the place I had to work. 2.The staff are great and helpful with service mind. Yes, I found a Thai girl staff who is really nice. We received the good service. Even though, the policy is they clean the room 1 in 3 days, but I was ok because we had to save the world. 3.The size of the room is small and the size of the beds were small too but enough for sleeping well and everything in the room was clean and function well. 4.No water bottles. I understood that we had to drink water from the tab. I was used to it because I knew it well, but my boss was not used to it and couldn't accept this. Please make the remark in the booking or put a paper in the room so that some people can prepare themselves for this culture. However, thanks for the milk in the fridge. Just positive experiences with this hotel this time. Thanks to you all

There are some positives to this hostel such as the fact that you have privacy curtains which is honestly the only reason I stayed this long, why more hostels don't install this simple but deal breaking detail I don't know. The rooftop is a good thing to have in summer months and it is a fairly sociable hostel. On the downside the hostel is constantly cold due to their insistence on blasting air con on full all year round even in the peak of winter. It makes for an uncomfortable experience and as guests are forbidden from touching the air con dials with signs saying to speak to reception (who will momentarily change it for perhaps 30 mins before that cold gust of air comes back on). It is good to have separate bathrooms not just one private one for the room, or a communal set of showers like others, here you have a bunch of separate shower rooms with their own door. Unfortunately they often smell foul due to the drains. I didn't experience much of the free breakfast as the window is very early and doesn't work for those who work late. All in all a fairly average experience that could be easily made better with a bit of common sense.

Stayed here for 5 nights and was very disappointed. Full disclosure, I thought we'd booked an apartment through a proper managed hotel service, not some pseudo Air BnB type arrangement, as we booked through ***********.au. Unfortunately, that was not the case. First, we were never sent instructions on how to check in. So we got to the location and couldn't even get into the building without tailgating. Fortunately there was a woman at the front who kindly helped us, even though she didn't have to. The apartment itself is sad. But I've managed my expectations of all these new builds in the Melbourne CBD. The quality of the build is awful. One enters through the kitchen and has a poorly decorated tight 2 bedroom apartment. An apartment that fits four people but has one uncomfortable 2 seater couch. Also, the second bedroom has no bedhead or frame so one easily hits their head while sleeping. The bathroom is microscopic, no door to the shower, so water splatters everywhere and there is no water drain in the middle of the bathroom to catch overflowing water, so it seeps out to the living space. Upon check-in we realised there was only 1 and a half rolls of toilet paper for our stay. We went and purchased our own, the first day. We had 3 people stay and they also only gave us 4 towels over 5 nights. The washing machine and dryer didn't work as they were connected to a dead electrical socket. (We tested it with multiple functional electrical products, none of them worked when plugged into that outlet) So, we had to hand-wash our clothes in the tiny basin provided in the tiny bathroom. There was no one to call to ask for help. There is no one to request extra towels from, nothing. The service here is atrocious. The hygiene of the place left A LOT TO BE DESIRED. The floors were filthy, wine and drinking glasses were still dirty and sticky, plates weren't washed. The walls were all scuffed and dirty and the windows stills are covered in thick layers of dust. I would never stay here again. We wrote to management to advise of the issues and got no reply.

It's convenient to drive by car. Follow the white road, Maroon*** HWY, and turn left to Victoria RD. Then turn left at Melba HWY and you will be left. It's perfect to avoid the high-speed route for navigation. Hotel facilities feel old, especially the pool is a bit disappointing! The hotel provides a big bed room according to my request! The welcome letters are all in Chinese :) The hotel has a free 3 boxes of instant noodles (although we have not eaten) and three bottles of Italian mineral water! Surprisingly, the four small pieces of chocolate are delicious! All breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the hotel, full western food! Breakfast is included in the room rate, lunch and dinner for two big ones for nearly $300! The nearest winery is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. After the hotel reception has received the voucher, you can go there for free 5 kinds of wine! The tasting staff just happened to be a little girl from Shanghai. I was very kind. I bought 6 bottles of wine (can pay Alipay or WeChat). The next day I took a baby to go to the Wildlife Nature Reserve, which is 18 minutes drive from the hotel. !

The room design is stylish, with a touch of French style! The room is quite spacious, especially the executive chair in the room, which is very comfortable! The only drawback is that there is not enough countertop to put items in the bathroom! Special praise for the front desk staff. When I checked in, they were very friendly and sincere. The only good thing about this place is location: it is within the free tram zone and right next to the Victoria market (there's a great Indonesian restaurant nearby). The rest is full of problems: 1. They don't respond to emails. If they do, they don't answer the questions properly. I had to chase them up quite a few times. 2. The rooms are rather worn out. The arm chair looked too dirty and old that I could not bring myself to put my clean clothes on it. Shower doors are poorly designed - the whole bathroom gets flooded. The holder for the shower head can't be fixed - and difficult to reach. 3. The rooms are noisy (the ones facing the main street). 4. Most importantly however - when I thought I lost my door key (the electronic one) I went to the reception and asked them to cancel it and reissue me a new one. I told the receptionist that the electronic key had a sleeve with the name of the hotel and the my room number so if he did not cancel it, the key could be used to locate and access my room very easily. He then told me he had cancelled my old key and reissued me a new one. I was not convinced the electronic key code for the room had been reset but went to my room in the hope that he was right. I found my original key the next morning and of course it was working. So he had lied to me. If I had lost my key, someone could easily have come in to my room and steal my things or even worse come in when I was there. The key sleeve had all the info - hotel name and room number. He put my life and goods at risk. NEVER STAYING HERE AGAIN!!! Terrible reception staff. Their front desk staff are either poorly trained or inexperienced - this is surely a major management issue. I have work visits planned for Melbourne. Will not be returning to this badly run hotel.

The bathroom was modern and had a large bath which was great for a toddler. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped. I liked being able to stream to the TV's from your own device. The location is great being right above a Woolworths. Perfect for any event at Marvel Stadium. The price was also very reasonable given the quality. The carparking was cost effective and easy to find as the hotel sent very good instructions on how to find it. The only slight issue is the hotel reception is a little hard to locate from the carpark and from the street as it's on level 2. Some better signage from the carpark might be beneficial. Overall would definitely stay again.

We chose the Miami because it was very close to the venue we were going to see a live show at. What a gem. Right from our arrival, staff were helpful and friendly. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We were given an upgrade that gave as a fabulous view of the city. Our room was large, bed very comfortable, bathroom well appointed (they even had shaving cream), couple of chairs to sit on and, one thing we love, mugs for tea or coffee. Everything was spotless. WiFi was good. There is parking on site at a fee. Some undercover but also spaces for those higher vehicles that can’t fit underneath. There is a guest kitchen which would be great for longer stays. We stayed on a Friday night and had no noise issues. Cafes, pubs and restaurants are all within walking distance and a tram stop is just down the road. On our trips into town, we usually stay at a much more expensive hotel but from now on the Miami will be our go to property. Very reasonably priced, great staff and comfortable beds, what more could you ask for?

My wife and I had a nice stay here a few weeks back. It is pretty centrally located and reasonably priced which are the redeeming features. The location and rooms definitely look nicer in the photos, the rooms whilst large and well appointed are very old and worn… dented fridges, damaged furniture, bedside lights that don’t work etc. it’s all perfectly liveable it’s just not what I expected from the photos. Staff were friendly but the place just needs some TLC. If you think this is a nicely restored boutique hotel you’ll be disappointed, but if you’re seeking conveniently located, reasonably priced accomodation with low expectations it will be perfectly suited.

I don't know why this hotel is rated 4 stars. It is 2 stars at best. We stayed for four nights, and our room was never cleaned. We had to ask for fresh towels on the third day. We emptied the trash ourselves as it became apparent the property does not offer cleaning service. There isn't a coffee maker in the room, and just a couple of forks and a couple of plates. The room itself felt dirty. The main areas of the building, including the entrance and walkways, were littered with leaves and other materials. We informed a cleaner the area needed to be vacuumed and he said it wasn't his job. We informed the front desk, and they simply nodded their heads. There is a language barrier with the front desk staff. I would not stay here given the lack of cleanliness and service. There aren't many choices in Kew, but I would look in Hawthrone or Richmond, which are relatively close to Kew.

Stayed here as a Diamond Ambassador in an iconic suite - Check in experience was great, warm welcome, benefits acknowledged and welcome drink provided. Amazing room, ridiculous amount of space, comfortable bed, great little office/working area. Unfortunately, the general level of service/care factor is lacking especially when staying in a room costing over 1k a night! One of my complimentary water bottles was open/used and about half empty, yuck. Later that day I wanted to use my $25 credit on the minibar 200ml bottle of gin (which is listed as inclusive of 4 mixers). Gin was missing from the mini bar I couldn't find it. Called down to reception to ask if it was by request, they assured me it should be there and would send someone up. Waited 2 hours and no one came which frustrated me as I was waiting so called down again and was assured someone was on the way. Someone did arrive with a huge bag full of everything except the gin. When questioned didn't seem to know what I was talking about, I had to point to it on the minibar menu and was met with a very confused expression, he left. Then about 30 minutes later a different person arrives with the gin bottle, success. However upon checkout there were a bunch of mini bar items charged which I hadn't consumed, and in fact were not even missing. I hate having to have that conversation but after only 3 words they were ”happy to remove them” which makes me think this isn't an uncommon occurrence. I later noticed that the mixers were charged as well where as they should have been included with the gin purchase cost, but I couldn't be bothered wasting my time to try and sort it out. Club lounge service was attentive but did fill up and get quite busy in the evenings however my drink was always topped up and the staff there were friendly and engaging. Temperature control seems non-existent in the room and I'm convinced it makes no difference what you set it to. I had my do not disturb on until mid morning, so as I was leaving for the day dropped by reception and said I may have missed housekeeping and could they have someone make up the room. Arrived back a few hours later and it hadn't been done. All up a real mixed bag here, but can't help feel my simple requests were a bother and inconvenience.

Before returning back home, we spent another 3N here and was upgraded to Yarra River view. Requested for them to change the bedsheet as we felt it was a little dusty. They changed it but the housekeeping forgotten to provide us with a bathroom mat and also left our used spoon on the sink. Overall a pleasant stay but I don’t really have that five star hotel feel in terms of the room comfort level and service quality.

We were given the impression our stay was in the tower behind the old building however that wasn't the case. Nevertheless the room we were allocated was lovely & clean with lots of space. A couple of issues I had #1: No lift, I'm a Chronic Asthmatic & tried to explain to reception staff that the stairs will be challenging the woman responds ”Oh my it's only on the 2nd floor so it's not that far”. I wasn't sure wither to slap her face or cry but ultimately my partner had to calm me and supported me on the climb. Issue #2 Upon arrival we were advised the front desk is mand 24hrs, not the case at all. When checking out I waited 30min for someone to show, a cleaner turned up & advised us to leave the key on the desk unattended & to call a certain number, I called just to be told my extra $100 that was paid will be reimbursed in 5 days if not take it up with my bank, her lack of pple skills pissed me off coz she also added ”I'm not at the desk right now Because I'm doing another job in the other motel sorry just leave the key card on the desk please” ... How the F#@* is that my problem i asked myself??. I better get my money back & hopefully not get charged extra if the key go's missing!!🥴.

I booked 10 nights at Pullman Albert Park, and got upgraded into privilege room. It was a pleasant stay. It shares the same facilities (restaurant, gym, pool etc) with Mercure, but it felt more like you're in Mercure than in Pullman. The hotel is a short tram trip to CBD. The tram stop is within walking distance, so it was convenient. I love that it is facing the Albert Park lake, such a vibe! The building is a bit old, but the room was still comfortable. The service was very good, everyone was really friendly. The only downside was that they looked understaff. I had to carry my own luggage when I left, and not many staff were present especially in the restaurant. But, everyone was very helpful! This hotel offers good value for longer stay. It's a perfect place if you want to explore more local activities such as: visiting the markets, exploring the surrounding (you can go to Royal Botanic, National Gallery of Victoria, Shrine of Remembrance), or going to the beach. Thank you for the pleasant experience!

The only shortfalls - My room did not service on the first night and requests took more than 20 minutes after second follow up calls. However, I appreciated the Duty Manager organizing the amenities and ensuring my room receives service on the next day. However, the next day I placed a card on the bed to request changed linen. But linen did not get changed, glassware has been removed from the room and did not replenish tea bags. Took 3 times to get it right. Positive side - i love design, location and cleanliness. It is a very challenging time for the hospitality industry to hire the right person for the right job. keep it up good work - Housekeeping. I hope my next visit will experience better service.
