Overall a great experience at a reasonable cost. Staff where accommodating, helpful and pleasant, took a while for most of them to warm to our South African interactions & humour. Our room was modern, clean and bright, bottled water complimentary, expresso coffee machine + Capsules complimentary, on each floor a self service Laundry room, washing machines, detergents & dryers complimentary very handy for extended stays, complimentary Easter Eggs .. yay, a great lobby/lounge area for when you have to wait for your wife to get ready in the morning.... with an excellent coffee machine you guessed it .. complimentary. We had one hiccup, another hotel guest lost her card, apparently, she went to reception and asked for another one, she was asked what her room number was she gave them our room number, in error .. ? and was given a card to access our room, we where in our room and this lady opened our door & after a couple of seconds of us all steering at each other she apologised and closed the door, very concerning breach of security & have to assume this was an exception. Their bicycle hire was expensive so we rented elsewhere.

My husband and I recently took a bicycle trip to Holland and spent one night at the Marriott in Rotterdam. We only wish that every hotel on our trip was as good as this. The Front Desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful -- they had a special place to lock-up our bikes, helped us do that, spent time with us reviewing a map of the city to decide what to do and where to go, and emailed us additional information. The hotel is in a great central location, across from train station and in walking distance to a lot of sites. The rooms are good-sized, totally modern (great bathrooms!), very quiet, cool (it was warm and we needed air conditioning) and internet worked perfectly. Breakfast is served in a nice room with a great view of the station/city; friendly staff, hot items are cooked to order and the buffet is full of any item you might want. We're just sorry to we only stayed one night.

I don't know if I've left a negative review before but I was really disappointed by my stay at hotel not hotel Rotterdam. The concept of the hotel is truly a great idea but it appears to really needs updated and better maintained. Positives: it's a fun concept for a hotel, it's close to the train station, the bed was comfy. The food was nice (if/when it arrived). Negatives: the hotel seems to need a paint job and a number of shared space fittings need updated (broken windows and glass on elevator lift). Whilst there are some nice members of staff, nobody seems to know what's going on, particularly for breakfast. The breakfast doesn't get served until 8 and even going down straight away it took 40 mins for a smoothie bowl and a croissant which really isn't ideal when you have already a late start for breakfast. I unfortunately was also given out of date UHT milk for my tea. One day my breakfast order was just forgotten with only 4 tables occupied. The rooms are not terribly well sound proofed so I could hear the reception and people in the corridor singing loudly on the Friday night. Again they could really do with a fresh paint and for marks and fittings to be updated. I get the impression that the hotel is quite understaffed as there was only one staff member available for both check out at 7.45 am which was a challenge when one guest wanted to check out and the other was trying to get an early breakfast (which had not been communicated between the staff from the previous day). All in all, whilst this place has promise and photographs well, I would advise against staying here until they update and upgrade the hotel and improve staffing. Sorry hotel not hotel, I hope you can improve in future.

Hotel is near to central train station. Walkable to attractions like Rotterdam waterfront and the Cube House. Close to all amenities such as shopping streets and food establishments. Room is clean and comfortable though not a big room but good for a couple. Breakfast spread is limited but sufficient to fill your stomach with nutritional food early morning. Good and we had a wonderful stay in the hotel.

Booked this in a rush without checking TA - big mistake. On checking in the staff (who were the only positive) handed me some ear plugs !. At this point I considered walking to another hotel (should have done). You will not get any sleep here - with earplugs in the street noise was almost bearable (soft thudding of the nearby club) however the paper thin walls internally meant you could loudly hear other residents - I’m a heavy sleeper and was woken up at 4:45 (after finally getting to sleep at 1) - now this didn’t seem to be loud partygoers, just people talking relatively loudly managed to wake me up with earplugs in !!. WiFi/tv etc all fine, no air con so hot, but the other thing was I read these reviews before I went to bed on bedbugs. To be clear I didn’t see any - but to mitigate I slept above the covers with a long sleeve T-shirt. I do have a bite on my ankle but that may be a mozzie / happened elsewhere. This place is only fit for people on a big night out - get smashed, pass out on the bed, leave as it is in a great location. Anyone else heed the above - harder to enjoy a great city with no sleep.

Great location, easy to get around in Rotterdam. If you are a bit sensitive to noise , better ask for a room far away from the elevator. Highlight is definitely the breakfast buffet team - thanks a lot for the great service and smiles despite a high stress level in the morning.

My experience in this hotel was really nice. It's located near the city center and the metro station and you can practically have everything you need (supermarkets, shops, food) within a few minutes on foot. All the stuff is really kind and helpful for anything it may occur during your stay in the hotel. Breakfast has not a big variety of drinks and food but it's still really good. My only complaint about this hotel is that there is no fridge in the room, which you really going to need if you are staying for more than 5 days. All in all, I really enjoyed my stay in days inn and I would definitely visit this hotel again.

We stayed at The James for 5 nights in the middle of July. It's a nice hotel - centrally located that' s walking distance to the train station, restaurants and attractions. The room we stayed in was a good size and nicely appointed. As part of the package we had use of 2 bikes for a full day. We took the bikes out on July 19 for a ride around Kinderdijk, which was about 20km away by waterbus. One of the bikes felt sluggish from the start but we attributed the problem to underinflated tires. Unfortunately, that wasn't the issue. It was making a loud pinging noise when it was put in reverse as in backing out of a bike rack on the ferry. The pedals were freewheeling as soon as we started riding when we came off the ferry. I emailed the hotel about the issue immediately but didn't hear anything back for over half an hour. A local pointed us to a bike shop 2 km away and off we went. This was the hottest day (39 C) the Netherlands had experienced in over a decade and we had almost 60 km to cover, so we wanted an earlier start. By the time the hotel emailed us back we were already at the bike shop getting it fixed. There's simply no way that we'd wait another hour or 2 for the hotel to send help. The mechanic was so disappointed with the bike's condition that he said the hotel should pay for the repair and that they may call him if they had any questions. The front desk told us their bike supplier would likely pay us back for the repair but 3 weeks later we're still waiting. The point is: I took the bike from the hotel, not their supplier. Any reasonable hotel would compensate their customers and deal with their supplier on their own. I'm not going to get too upset losing 35 euros but this shows how terrible customer service is with this hotel. You may stay there and it should be OK as long as nothing goes wrong.

My room failed to meet boutique hotel standards, significant amount of paint chipped and after I dropped my airbuds on the floor last night thick dust under my bed and also a very sub standard air condition unit. This is unacceptable on all levels and disappointing. After reading that a 100 euro deposit was needed during stay I was expecting something special but I was wrong. Simple things that are standard like a bottle of water in the room missing. If you want to brand yourself as a boutique hotel then make sure you deliver. Must give special mention to Leon who was on reception and was fantastic

Great to have an apartment experience at lower than hotel prices. It doesn't get cleaned every day, but not a problem if you are used to tidying up after yourself. Location is in the heart of the city - shopping, conference centre, restos and bars are all within walking distance. I would def choose again.

The stay was excellent and managed to had a good rest. Location wise, it's less than 15 minutes walk to the Rotterdam Centraal train station and there is a McDonald's opposite of the hotel which makes the hotel's location great. Overall it's was an amazing and pleasant stay.

Motel One is always a good address for city travel. However, this in Rotterdam is especially, not only by the location in the pedestrian zone but also by the proximity to the market hall, which is a must in this great city. We like the roof-top bar, which has not only a great view of the city especially at night, but also a great selection of gin from all over the world. (to be found in Motel One's) The rooms are usually relatively small, but very smartly built with the equipment.

It is about time someone (aka me) wrote a recent review on my stay. This was a great stay. This is small hotel, all the staff super friendly especially both the gentleman on reception. I have seen reviews elsewhere complaining of the breakfast. Just a reminder that this is a 3* hotel and the breakfast is more than adequate to set you up for the day and has all the essentials. The room was spacious, very clean and modestly modern enough especially the bathroom which had lots of space to keep belongings. The small attention detail was nice - towels with the hotel name on, coffee cups with inspiring/funny messages, 2 plug points near the bed, clock in the breakfast room in keeping with the hotel’s link with the port/shipping industry. Note, the rooms have a fan (but they are in the process of installing air conditioning to all the rooms). Only suggestion I have is that the bathroom door in room 103 was a little squeaky (just needs WD40), pillow could be a little less lumpy (but they were more than happy to supply more pillows and still slept very well) and the drinks from the fridge by reception is on the expensive side but all minor points. Location is great. 10 mins walk from Euromast and a few minutes walk from Coolhaven Station, qs a little far from the Centraal Station to walk and even Blaak (where the markethall and cube houses are). All in all, I would definitely stay again. It was a pleasant, relaxing and quiet experience. It felt safe yet cosy. The hotel seemed a little quiet, despite being the weekend, I hope it picks up over the summer. Thanks for a lovely stay!

If you're looking for a place with great beds and friendly staff to get your head down, then I can't rate the Emma Hotel highly enough! After checking in and taking the lift, (yes I said lift, something which isn't easy to find with reasonably priced accommodation in Rotterdam), up to our floor, we made our way to the 'Superior room'. Upon first entering the room we were very pleased with size of it. There was a small entry hall with a shelf for your bag and hat etc and hooks for your coats. To the right was the bathroom and ahead the main room equipped with the bed, TV, chair, desk, coffee machine and mini fridge. The large, almost full-length windows give the room an even more spacious feel with lots of light and a nice view over the street of this great central location, which was great for people watching or looking at some of the crazy driving out there!! The bed looked clean and comfy and the requested extra 2 pillows had been added :) The bathroom was one of the highlights of this accommodation, it was large with sufficient towels and toilet paper and a large radiator which kept the room warm and your towels toasty for drying off after enjoying some relaxation in the amazing bath!!. Though not long, it was deep and great for some recharge time, with a glass of wine, after walking around exploring Rotterdam through the day. The shower was small but sufficient, I would say the water was rather cool from the shower and couldn't be put up any higher. A bit of a shame, but certainly not a deal breaker if I was to visit Rotterdam again. After a long day and a great bath the bed was next to try and I will say I slept like a baby. The bed was very comfy. I have back issues and some beds aggravate it terribly, but I had absolutely no problems in the morning after sleeping here. The pillows may be a bit too thick for me, but this is a subjective view and I think many places have these overly fat pillows. The staff were always very friendly and there were never any issues getting in or out of the hotel, even outside normal hours. Your door keycard works until the evening, when for security you need to ring the bell for the receptionist to let you in. You can also use the Emma website. By entering your booking within the website, you can open the front door to the hotel and also your room door. I found this a very very handy addition. If all this wasn't enough to convince you to stay with the Emma Hotel. The coffee in the foyer will. It's free and honestly some of the best coffee I had while in Rotterdam. There is also tea and biscuits on offer. I made good use of this facility and was grateful for its presence. Overall, I rate the Emma Hotel 5/5. Great location Friendly staff Lovely room Reasonable price Lift aaaannnnnndddd Great FREE Coffee

We stayed here as 2 friends for 2 nights. Positives - The communal area is bright, airy and modern - The staff were very friendly and helpful - The hotel allowed us to keep our bags there once we'd checked out before our train home - The hotel is relatively well positioned in the city, about a 15 minute walk away from the centre - The air con was a real positive! Cons - The room itself reminded us of a room in a hostel. It was relatively basic (no chair, a tiny TV) - There were some very questionable stains on the way into the room (it looked like someone had vomited prior to our arrival). There were also some stains on the skirting board by the bedhead. - The room was not ready at 3pm when we arrived and we had to wait about half an hour for it to be ready. Overall it was pretty cheap so we couldn't complain too much but it'd be nice to have the stains rectified for future guests!

We stayed in the superior triple room, everything was neat and tidy. The staff, which was plentiful, were all very friendly and helpful. The beds were fine, we slept wonderfully. In the evening we had dinner in the Lido grill. The food was very good, we first had a starter with different snacks. Recommended to share because everything is available in abundance. The main course was also very tasty, but we just couldn't finish it all. Service is quick and there is also room to wait in between. And what a beautiful view from the restaurant, very beautiful. Had a generous breakfast this morning, again very tasty. All in all, we will definitely go back!!

The hotel is set in lovely grounds with trees and a long stream at the back. The picture shows the geese outside my room. This means though that leaving the window open at night to try to get cool air (air conditioning did work) is inadvisable as mosquitoes make their way in. The bathroom is good to look at although the basin is impractical. There were lots of television channels and a good and easy to use control. Lighting is abysmal though. The bathroom light worked and there was a light at the bedroom door. There were reading lights above the bed, but the remainder of the room is in Stygian gloom. When I arrived, I got the least friendly checkin person since I was in Moscow 16 years ago. That said, all other people at the hotel were nice.

Great location. Walkable from central train station if you don't mind walking a bit. I felt safe at night walking the relatively busy streets. The last little bit is quieter, which is perfect because it makes it very quiet to sleep at this hotel. The room was very clean and staff were friendly. Breakfast was good but not great. Plentiful though! And good coffee.

Nicely located property in residential area relatively close to central station, Even though well appointed and efficiently laid out, the room was too small for a comfortable stay, which was further compromised by break down of hot water system on second night, PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THE HOTEL'S OUTCOOR BUILDING PICTURES (PURPORTEDLY PROVIDED BY MANAGEMENT) ARE INCORRECT, THESE ARE FROM THE NEARBY SISTER LE MARIN BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Really lovely third visit to this hotel with my family. All of the front desk team so welcoming and helpful especially Joel. He recognised me as a return Hilton Honors guest and helped me with the perfect room prior to our arrival. Joel is an asset to the hotel! Check in was a great experience with the dark haired lady ( sorry didn’t catch her name ) and Timo also giving great customer service during my stay. Breakfast buffet at €17.50 each was very satisfying with everything you could want to eat and drink. Restaurant team all friendly and efficient. Location excellent - short walk to Markthal and Blaak station. Easy access to metro, tram and trains. Look forward to our next visit. Thank you Motto Rotterdam!

Visited for North Sea Jazz festival in July 2022. Hotel is of a high standard throughout. Our room was a standard ”water view” double, and not that big but had all we needed in terms of furnishings and amenities. One tiny gripe of mine, the bathroom has a sliding frosted-glass door, which of course saves space, but doesn't fully close. Bed and bedding all very comfortable. Shower and Air-con easy to regulate. Plenty of lifts (elevators) at all times. Breakfast superb. All staff very friendly and efficient.

Great location, easy to get around in Rotterdam. If you are a bit sensitive to noise , better ask for a room far away from the elevator. Highlight is definitely the breakfast buffet team - thanks a lot for the great service and smiles despite a high stress level in the morning.

Google maps will not take you to the correct location of the hotel! The address states the hotel is in Leuvehaven; however the hotel and entrance are really on Terwenaker 18 (the small peninsula just east of the main road (Schiedsedijk). You can definitely see the hotel on the peninsula as you’re driving north on the main road, but your GPS / offline Google Maps won’t take you there. Just a tip in case you’re driving to the hotel. Other than that, our room was spacious, comfortable, had its own sauna, and a great view of the river. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Cube Houses and central market area. Overall, we’d stay there again if in Rotterdam!

The location is average, Wifi is good. Breakfast food is plentiful. An unhappy incident occurred. We originally rented a bicycle for 2 days to visit the hotel. They charged me 100 euros in cash for 13 yuan per car a day and 25 yuan for 2 days. Of that, 50 yuan was 2 days rent plus 50 yuan deposit. I had a receipt for it. Finally, I decided to add an extra day of bicycle to the Hague. So I went back to the hotel at about 5 o'clock on the 21st and told the lady on duty to rent for another day and gave her the key number. Then she told me to give 25 euros. I gave her 25 euros in cash. But she didn't give me the receipt. On the 22nd I handed over my bicycle keys to the lady on duty (not the one who charged me 25 cash), she told me that I paid for 2 days in the record without the third day record, I told her that she received it from another, she insisted that we did not pay, she did not even ask other female colleagues to do it, Just said that we did not have a third day receipt. We will deposit 50 yuan-26 yuan. Find 24 yuan back to us. But we have to pay 26 euros more, we can't help English, because we didn't take the receipt. Here we want receipts for everything. This hotel finally made me disappointed and angry 😤😤😤.

It was an amazing stay. Everything worked properly and the personnel is great. Additionally, the place is greatly connected with other parts of the city and especially with the train station (Rotterdam Central), which is a valuable attribute for those commuting for business purposes.
