This is not our first stay at the hotel. This was our 3rd or 4th visit and it is the last for sure due to their poor customer handling and management. I must say that our previous stays were fabulous and i have made positive reviews in TripAdvisor for those. However, this time most of the staff are new to us and not so friendly and caring as the ones who were there earlier starting from the front office. They just don't care, I don't know if its because we are local travellers. On the other hand, the ”amberella” welcome drink is awesome as always. We stayed in a Duplex as there were 4 adults and my 9 month old baby. The rooms were clean and spacious. The living area was giving a calming vibe and had the same look as their other villas we have stayes before. Our baby, husband and I were in the upstair room and when we entered the room is was heated up and the air conditioner was not working properly. It was so uncomfortable so we called the front office and they sent a team to repair. It was taking alot of time so we requested for another room as our baby was feeling tired and needed a nap. Plus, they had adequate rooms vacant and even had Duplex category rooms available too. Still, they refused to shift us to another room so we kept the baby in the ground floor room. The repair took around 2 hours! And then we went to the room and the air conditioner was working. Yet, we were not able to have a nap and relax as we had to go out to Anuradhapura which is the main reason for our visit. So we came back at around 9.30pm and the air conditioner was not working again. Again the same drill, a team came, inspected and told us they need to repair again and it was 11.45pm when they said this. We refused because we were already exhausted as needed to sleep. Also, now, at 11.45 at night they are asking us if we can move to another room (Duplex category). They had vacant Duplex category rooms all this time and in the moddle of the night they are asking us to shift. In my head I was bursting but we were all too tired to keep arguing or leaving the useless place so we stayed in the same Duplex room just till morning. Early morning we left the hotel without breakfast eventhough we had paid for full board. They charged us the whole amount and invoiced for the additional food as well as mini bar (just mentioned this if not someone could think that they must've given a discount or wave-off). So we paid almost 500USD just for one night for this drama. We will never go back to this hotel and not at all recommend. I guess the main issue was poor management of the situation and it shows how poor the hotel management is. We were in Duplex 3 (Kohomba). This hotel staff or management will never care about the customer if something goes wrong and lacks hospitality. Afterall, while we were having our breakfast we got a call from the general manager of the hotel and he apologized but I think it is too late as we have already left their property. The ambiance and the echo at the hotel were great, but unfortunately, the cleanliness did not meet expectations. The glass walls of the chalets were not properly cleaned, which affected the view. Additionally, the lights in the pantry were tipped a couple of times, and four lights in the chalet were not working. The meals were sometimes delivered incorrectly—on a few occasions, the soup or starter was missing, and at dinner, one of the meals arrived incomplete. We had to wait over 20 minutes for it to be rectified. Water supply was interrupted a couple of times, and it took more than an hour to restored. What was most disappointing was the lack of follow-up from the hotel management. Despite hearing that the general manager was available, no one reached out to discuss or address the issues we faced, which left us feeling neglected. Given all the issues, I would not consider returning to this hotel. However, I would like to give a special mention to Anuhas, who was very pleasant and took great care of us, driving us around in the buggy. His hospitality was truly appreciated.

A++++. Best place we have stayed in Sri Lanka. Stayed for 2 nights. Wish I could have stayed for a week. Service is impeccable. Its currently a smaller place (due to expand) so you feel so well known and cared for. They anticipate your needs and delver with joy. Rooms (villas) are amazing. So spacious. Beds are comfortable. Minibar is free- yes, you read right. Super safe (gated). The walk down from your villa is beautiful. And who doesn’t want to wake up to monkeys crossing your roof in the morning. Food is a standout. Please try their pastries- could have eaten them al day. Curries are divine. Breakfast is substantial (remember the pastries!). We tried to eat the whole menu. They have their own herb, vege and fruit garden on site so you know it’s fresh! Definitely eat in and give the food a go. Activities are plentiful. We had a ball trying out the air rifling and archery. Billards and table tennis. The pool and spa. We didn’t use the gym - climbing up Sigiriya was enough exercise. Location was fabulous- easy to get to the main sites and they can assist with transport if you need. We also used their laundry service - done perfectly and in time. Traveled with family in a group of seven. Two week tour of Sri Lanka mainly staying at 5 star properties. This is a standout.

The hotel is right next to the cave temple and you can walk past it, which is very convenient. The hotel can report to Lion Rock for a group tour, or charter a car to Lion Rock, and then go to the ancient city. The price is billed in US dollars.

Dear Readers, 1. I and my wife stayed in this resort for one night (Check In 10 Dec 2024 & Check Out 11 Dec 2024). 2. I had booked this hotel through Ms CEYLO TRAVELS,COLOMBO as one destination out of our 14 nights itinerary to Sri Lanka. 3. It was quite a disappointing experience since this hotel was offered to us a 4-Star hotel by Ms CEYLO TRAVELS. 4. It is very highly overrated as is seen from the previous reviews in contrast to the standard of ambience ,hospitality, amenities and choice/quality of meals. 5. Good Points, a. The hotel is situated in a jungle like serene environment. The sounds of birds can be heard in the morning/evening. b. The hotel has a nice swimming pool which is located next to the restaurant. 6. Bad Points. a. The rooms have a dampness in the air and are not aired regularly and properly. b. The standard of toiletaries in the washroom was very substandard. c. The room and the washroom does not adequate lighting arrangement. d. The hotel does not have laundry services which is a normal amenity expected in a 4 Star hotel/resort. e. The hotel provides only two 500 ml mineral water bottles for one night stay. The extra water bottles asked for by us were levied at DOUBLE the MRP listed on the water bottle which is violative of legal provisions. 7. Standard of Food. a. The standard of food in terms of quality and choice was extremely limited and very minimalistic for vegetarians like us. b. We had to be contended with items like Dal,Curd and plain rice. c. The standard of bakery items was highly substandard. d. The standard of service was also not upto the mark. e. The variety/quality has NO comparison with the one we came across at Hotels like Trinco Blu beach resort at Tricomalee merely one day ago on 09 Dec 2024 and at Mandara Resort, Mirissa later on 15 Dec 2024. 8. Summary. A. This jungle resort is a 3-star standard and is highly overrated in the reviews. I assume the visitors don't have patience and inclination to write a thorough, comprehensive and realistic review. B. I would also admit that I had made a huge mistake by booking my 14 nights tour to Sri Lanka through Ms CEYLO TRAVELS,COLOMBO. This company is into excessive profiteering and is making a fool of the Foreigner Customers like us after taking 10% advance before reaching Sri Lanka and collecting balance 90% in CASH (USD or INR) immediately on arrival at Colombo. C. I would therefore suggest that the Foreigners especially Indians MUST not use the services of this company which is looting its customers in a systematic and organised manner, knowing fully well that it will be very difficult and highly un- economical for a foreigner to sue them on the Sri Lankan soil.
