It turns out it was very good when the Germans ran it. Now that the boss has been changed to a Chinese, the experience is not as good as before. The geographical location and landscape architecture are still based on the Germans, which is great. Software has plummeted compared to the days of the Germans, Netflix accounts are not given out in suites, toothbrushes are harder than those used to brush shoes, and rolling paper is the cheapest. The equipment of the suite should at least be upgraded to a certain extent than that of the ordinary room. I don’t know how it can be sold for more than 1,000 yuan a night in the peak season. There are only two bottles of mineral water a day, and if you don't have enough, a bottle costs 50 baht. It's like a cheap hotel. I have been staying there before the epidemic, and I will probably change places in the future. The facilities are old and have not been repaired. The staff are still very nice but there are very few people. They are just strong enough to maintain operations. The food in the restaurant has become unpalatable. Overall, it's a failure and a waste of a perfect location.

There is no beach, only seaside cliffs, as you can see in the photo. Housing prices are a little expensive.

Lovely staff, good rooms, comfortable beds, sea views, very satisfying. There is a slight booking problem. The promotion price is wrong, you have to reserve and pay first. It took a while to coordinate. But the trip is responsible. Return it later.

What a jewel!!! Absolutely one of the best places in which I have stayed. Kind, helpful wonderful staff, perfect setting, walkable to the village of kan tiang, stunning ocean view with fabulous sunsets, large, generous rooms, fantastic pool and hottub, great pricing. Erik, the owner was so caring and compassionate. I cannot speak highly enough of the Houben and EVERYTHING it has to offer.

The friendliest hotel we visited in Thailand. Every member of staff can’t do enough for you. Spacious rooms with stunning views out to sea- amazing sunsets. The best breakfast we’ve had all cooked/ prepared to order, varied menu for lunch/dinner. Fresh bedding and towels daily including beach towels. We will definitely return when back in Ko Lanta

We felt so fortunate to have found this hotel. It was so special and looking back we think was our best hotel experience in Thailand. Eric is always there to help if needed and the experiences we had with his recommendation were amazing. The hotel is new incredible views and so comfortable! We didn’t want to Leave ! We liked this hotel. It’s different to the others we stayed in on Koh Lanta as it has a modern style rather than Thai (nice but could be anywhere in the world). The red tiled pool is unusual and takes advantage of the view. The hotel has a red theme which sort of works. The location is good with fantastic cliff top sea views. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and it’s quite nice although rocky in parts at low tide. Walk up the beach to Same Same but Different restaurant where it’s great for swimming. Other nice beaches are a short drive away. The hotel is on the southern part of Koh Lanta which is noticeably quieter and less touristy than the north. Some good eating spots in the small nearby village especially Himalaya. Music every night and fire shows at the beach bars. Food in the hotel is very very good and there’s a wide choice of Thai and western dishes. All staff are helpful and friendly. Nothing was a problem and there was always a smile. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with good sized decks. House keeping was perfect. Unfortunately the internet is poor and drops out often which was disappointing. Overall we thought the hotel was good value. The area is OK for a short stay as the small village is lovely but you need transport to get the best of southern Koh Lanta.

We could not have had a better time than here at the Houben. All of the staff were so attentive and friendly from start to finish. In-fact we extended our stay and still did not want to leave! The room was so spacious, clean, modern and gorgeous. The view is unreal. The pool is stunning and the food and cocktails were delicious. We even enjoyed some of the games on offer in the restaurant, when we had a little rain. A really great, relaxing atmosphere. Again, we could not praise the staff more, they all deserve so much credit. Always making us feel welcome, it was sad to leave! I wish I’d wrote this review sooner but I’ve never been good at completing reviews but this hotel deserves a 10/5!! I really hope we make it back! Thank you The Houben!!
