Rated 2 out of 5 only because of the incredible beauty of the island, the islands views, lovely room and outdoor bathroom and the staff. Be aware there are only two domestic flights a day operating from Male to Kadhdhoo, these are just after 11am and just before 6pm. When landing at 11.15am we had to wait almost 7 hours when we were promised by our tour operator a maximum of 2 hour wait. Likewise, there are only 2 domestic flights operating on return, therefore we had to depart Rahaa at 4.40am when our return flight to the UK from Male was at 13.20, another 6 hour wait in Male making it an exceptionally long journey. Our booking confirmation and tickets stated we were entitled to the Moonima lounge as complimentary on arrival in Male however when we made our way there we were told as of 1st November this was no longer complimentary to Rahaa guests. After stern words with the resort via email we were eventually permitted complimentary entry. Perhaps the removal of the complimentary lounge is regards the owner of Rahaa being in over $1 million worth of debt to Maldivian airlines? Read further on. After arrival in the dark hours, on checkin we noted we were not given the upgrade as booked with Bluebay, we were fobbed off this was only if available and on a request basis only, my ticket and hotel confirmation clearly stated ocean view room booked. I stood my ground and two hours later given an ocean view room. As a travel agent for 20 years I know the difference between a guaranteed upgrade and a request. Initially the room was perfect and the view in the morning through the foliage to the ocean was stunning, photos don’t do it justice however no hand towels, bath towels stained and bed linen and pillow cases heavily stained. Beach towels were only left twice in the two weeks we stayed and were threadbare and stained and my husband cut his head on the heavily overhanging foliage from the beach to the room, when reported this was cut back. I loved the outside shower but unfortunately after a couple of minutes use it looses all pressure and becomes a trickle, good for a quick freshen up though under the stars. Mini bar in the room with 2 beers, 2 cans of pop and a small white wine which was topped up daily and two bottles of water left daily, however in out second week the cans of pop changed from full size cans to mini tiny cans and only one bottle of water a day left as they were running out. Hairdryer worked well and we were given an ironing board for the two weeks when we requested one. Our TV didn’t work but after a couple of attempts to fix we were given a new one which worked fine but not really any channels to watch, unfortunately no movies for the rainy days. Pillows on the day bed on the patio were covered in mould. Kobar not open as advertised, only open 4.30 to 7pm weather permitting. Also no bonfire at Kobar as advertised. The resort is running on minimal staff, read on for my thoughts on this…. The beach is only sandy in parts but m
