After a long and exhausting business trip decided to drop off the grid to visit my old friend Brett at Shibui Gardens. The perfect antidote turned out to be the bungalows he carved and built with local wood and bamboo, by hand, out of a coconut grove. Ask for the Shibui room. The hand made bed is so comfy and it has AC and TV. Met new travelers every day coming down from Mt. Rinjani after three days climbing. It is like they land in Shangri-La enjoying a hot shower, good nights sleep, good company, and amazing food. Brett makes everything from scratch using freshest ingredients for his ‘Californasian’ fusion food. His cheeseburger on home made bun with fries is unbelievable. Fridge is stocked with cold beer. The hand made pasta and pizzas are becoming a must for post Rinjani refueling. Breakfast chocolate pancakes or eggs to order to send you on your way for North Lombok and Gili Island adventures. Our experience at Oberoi surpassed all expectations. It's situated across expansive grounds, which gives each guest ample privacy. Hotel design is meticulous and nothing less than what I’d expect for Oberoi. The on-site restaurant serves up excellent food with a wide selection of choices, compensating for the limited nearby dining choices. Most impressive of all was the personal and impeccable service which warrants a rating beyond the conventional scale. if possible, I would award it six stars. Highly recommend a stay at Oberoi Lombok!

We stayed Jan29–Feb2 2024 and had the most wonderful time. The lodge is everything all the good reviews say but we were still surprised by the quality of the lovely grounds, beautiful room, meticulous attention given to every detail by the warm and extremely attentive manager and staff, and the added extras that are just included (because most places would nickel and dime for a lot of what LL just throws in to make you feel welcome and comfortable). The most obvious example is the food. A gorgeous breakfast and dinner is included in the nightly rate. The owners Bill and Anya (restaurant owners from Belgium, go figure), and Chef Jiwa and his team have created breakfast and dinner experiences that truly became the sun around which each of our vacation days orbited - that sounds hyperbolic, but it’s actually completely true in our case! We also had an unforgettable and delicious sate lunch during our beach day at Gili Meno, and along with the chef had a team of really fun staff there with us to fulfill our every wish and need :) We went for a hike one morning with a great hiking guide (taking us up a ridge with spectacular views - one we could not have explored on our own - and through a Buddhist village, and more - thank you Edy!) and I had an absolutely glorious massage the last afternoon. If we’d stayed one more day I would have asked for another. The weather was perfect - like most tropical forecasts, what looked sort of rainy initially turned into sun and scattered clouds :) In our short time there we were utterly spoiled in the best way, received a generosity of experiences far above and beyond our expectations, and have nothing but good things to say about the oasis that is Lombok Lodge. Go! You will not be disappointed!! (And definitely do the LL shuttle from the airport - get into that Lombok Lodge happy bubble the moment you step on island!)
