Hotels near Gautschi Holz Works in New Orleans

I stayed at this hotel 10-14 January 2022 for government business and I will never stay at this location, or another Courtyard by Marriott again. First of all, I booked my reservation myself because I was to tell the booking receptionist what group I was with. I called several times in November to book a room but was placed on hold for 15+ minutes each time never being able to complete the booking process. I ended up reserving a room using the Bonvoy app. The actual stay was decent besides the constant slamming of doors, the blinking light directly above the bed, and the confusing light switch setup. The room was clean and modern, but for a 4-day stay I did expect at least one visit from the cleaning staff, but that seemed a bit excessive. Throughout this time, and navigating around the government business I was attending, I attempted several times to confront the desk clerk about ensuring I receive the government rate as I was unable to do so over the phone prior to arriving. On the third night of my stay I received a confirmation via the Bonvoy app that I would receive the government rate. I also got verbal confirmation from the clerk working the night desk on 13 January when I asked if there would be any issue with me checking out at 3am the next day. Checked out of the hotel and was on my way to the airport when I received the electronic receipt in my email for $299/night. This is not the government rate. Upon returning to work the following Monday I called and was directed to speak with Jeanine about the issue. Even though she did assist me with reversing the tax charges, she was rude, unsympathetic, and disruptive as I tried to explain the issue. She did confirm that she was given a list of members who were to receive the government rate but that she took no further action because I did not call to confirm that my name was on the list or that I was indeed attending....if my name was on a list that was given to you, and I had an active reservation 2 months prior, why would this be a problem? Name on list...check. Reservation made by the same name....check. Not so fast! Because I was having difficulties communicating with Jeanine, I had a co-worker of mine who deals with hotel billeting speak to her and she claimed to him that I was extremely rude and degrading to her, which is an absolute lie. I never called her by anything but her name, never used profanity, and only raised my voice when she interrupted me so I could finish what I was saying. Still, no progress. Because of this trip being directed by government, it is not supposed to cost the military member a dime out of pocket. My leadership decided that if I could get a letter from the hotel stating they would not honor the government rate, the hotel cost may be covered. Wrong. After politely requesting such a letter from Jeanine 3 times, I was given what is basically Jeanine's excuse slapped on letterhead. 3 months after this whole ordeal I am now looking at being persona

Nice sea view room, great breakfast Everything is very good, cheaper than looking for a hotel when traveling by yourself

When I entered the room, the undeniable smell of urine perfumed the air. I looked for the source and, while getting in bed, I found it. It was the MATTRESS!!!!! I ask to place us in another room, which was accompanied with an apology. In the other room, it smelled less urine-like. YET, I lifted the blanket and noticed 2 DIRTY, I MEAN DIRTY, SOCKS that had been there since who-knows-when!!!!! This meant that the sheets were not cleaned, either!!!! We had to leave!!! This was an emergency trip and we will NEVER go here again!!!

Front desk great help. Nice hostel. Just didn’t get breakfast as I had to leave earlier and was not able to get a bag to go.

Clean and bright, on the Mississippi River, very close to attractions. Of course the best is Drago’s on the first floor.

Clean, very clean, bed sheets and mattresses are very comfortable, the hotel is not big, cost-effective, parking spaces near the road are pretty good, no need for valet parking

- Location: Easy to access - Gym room: Very limited types of machines - The room: Just a room. - As an Asian, I can say there’re some cultural differences between US hotels and Asian hotels. Americans might find the hotel great while Asians might not.

We booked the hotel seeing that it had 4 stars, there was a pool and the amenities list said there was an oven and microwave for the room. I can tell you that when we got there we were definitely surprised and not in a good way. The pool was closed even though they put a sign on the door thanking people for staying 6 ft apart. I don’t understand how you can be 6 ft apart if you can’t even go into the pool area, let alone the pool itself. Another reason we were extremely unhappy was because we had brought frozen food expecting to be able to heat it up and there was no oven, nor a microwave in the room. For a 4 star hotel that is ridiculous! Additionally, the hotel was doing some COVID-19 relief programs which in retrospect is very nice of them due to the fact that New Orleans is a poor area, but they did not let us know about it when we booked the room and the outside the hotel was full of homeless people and others just sitting around smoking and drinking by both doors outside and roaming throughout the lobby. My husband and I were very displeased and even though the hotel was giving them food and water, they created a place where anyone could have definitely caught the virus if they aren’t careful enough or if anyone walking in had it. If we ever go back to New Orleans, we will not be staying there.

For legal reasons all of this is alleged, of course. Word to the wise, especially women, there’s a predaceous atmosphere here. Seems like the intention is to hire attractive impressionable women and encourage alcohol consumption beyond belief. One of their own volunteers likened it to “sex tourism”. It makes for a weird time. Great place to go if you’re looking for underage drinking because they’ll supply that. Got my wallet stolen on Bourbon St (watch yourself if you go), can’t help but feel like part of it was the negligence of Kat the volunteer leading. She was too drunk to properly guide. She didn’t even check on me after my wallet was stolen. I don’t blame her though, it’s on the owners. They put all the responsibility on the naïve and unpaid volunteers. The owners are never around, they just do the paperwork there. I was able to make the most of the trip but overall the hostel has a weird vibe. —— If you want to know the full story; Everything turned extremely sour when there was a misunderstanding with my reservation. I don’t blame the worker who missed it, it was a simple misunderstanding. My reservation was booked for one day shorter than I thought, they didn’t catch the mistake so I slept the night there and was charged in the morning (had I known this prior I would’ve booked different hotel for the night. Due to how much sound travels in house it’s impossible to sleep). They had no card on file because I canceled it due to the theft. They would’ve been outta luck if I had refused to pay, I could’ve challenged it due to their lack of due diligence. But I enjoy being honest. Hence why I’m leaving this review. I was waiting for my mom to send her card info so I could pay and Kat insisted on watching me pack. She sat on the floor attempting to manipulate me while packing, even tho I had earbuds in. She wouldn’t let me walk away from the fight, which tells me she’s miserable in her life. Her pride finally gave up after I continued ignoring her and packing for 5 minutes. She was attempting to have me sit in the office until payment arrived, instead of packing up. Sounded counterproductive to me because I was making myself busy, having a panic attack, while waiting for my mom to send payment info. There’s only one door to leave so this intensity made no sense. She also refused to give me a towel, even though I had an hour until check out. Seemed like an ego trip for Kat. Not to mention she didn’t sleep the night before working, she was busy partying. Kat might’ve done it, but Myrridas didn’t do anything to stop her. It was so so weird. So unprovoked. Felt very “mean high school girls” which is not that you want from “professionals” while on vacation. I understanding wanting payment but I agreed to once the card info came in and I wanted to carefully pack until check out time. Kat was acting like I killed her first born baby. Hotel good location a block off of Canal St. and Bourbon street. Room with king bed was a little smaller than I thought but adequate. Very modern features in room and enjoyed the rain head shower very much. Checkin was easy and front staff person was friendly. Only did a 2 night stay.
