After breakfast at the guesthouse, it seemed like it wouldn't rain in the morning, so we went to the nearby Yucun village. We spent some time in Yucun, and as the weather got better, we spontaneously decided to go hiking. We found a beginner-friendly short route: Yucun-Mogao Wo-Jianchi Total distance: 4 kilometers Elevation gain: about 400 meters Time: 3 hours The plan was to take the mountain shuttle bus back from the end point. But when we reached the end, we found out we had missed the last bus at 16:30‼️ After lunch in Yucun and feeding pigeons with the kids in the square, we didn't start hiking until 3 pm. By the time we reached the summit, it was almost dark, and the kids were tired. After asking the staff, we confirmed there were no more buses down the mountain, so our only option was to walk down.😱 The kids were upset when they found out there was no bus, wanting to be carried. Because it was a last-minute decision, we didn't even have headlamps, let alone hiking shoes. After eating something, we decided to walk down the road with the kids' mother, which, although longer than the trail, was easier to navigate in the dark. Also, we hoped to possibly hitch a ride with a private car going down. We were really lucky this time, after walking for 20 minutes, we finally encountered a car, and the driver was willing to take us down the mountain~ It was a guy who had driven from Shanghai to visit and had to rush back that night, we were so grateful to him.🙏 It was a profound lesson, and we will definitely prepare thoroughly and plan well in the future~ The scenery along this hiking route is indeed fantastic, surrounded by bamboo forests that provide shade, so it's mostly not sunny. A small stream flowing down from the mountain top, running through the ancient path, where you can wade and cool down, is very refreshing.👍 Following the various colored ribbons tied by fellow hikers on the road, you can hardly go wrong, and you can ask me for the trail map. There are more than 200 villas preserved on the mountain, built by China, England, America, France, Germany, Russia, and other countries, showing that since the Republic of China era, this has been a holiday destination for the rich and famous.
