What does the Nordic First Cathedral & Harry Potter look like? The York Cathedral is the largest Gothic medieval church in Britain and Northern Europe. Religious status is synonymous with Canterbury Cathedral. Hogwarts Hall shooting location in the Harry Potter film. What kind of church can have such a reputation? The York Cathedral in England is proudly standing here. [Looking back on history] The York Cathedral, officially known as ""The Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York (St. Peter's Basilica and Archbishop's Basilica in York)". It is the most important historical building in York and one of the most exquisite churches in design and architectural art in the world. It was built in 627 AD, a wooden structure that was later destroyed by war in the Civil War. In 1060, the Normans captured York and built the first Norman church, and the cornerstone and basement of this church can still be seen. The current York Cathedral is mainly built in 1220-1480, which combines a variety of architectural styles. Construction began in the early 13th century and was completed 250 years later. Some of the characteristics of York Cathedral: "Big East Window", "Big West Window", "Five Sister Window", "Ear Hall" and "Tower". The Great East Window enters the York Cathedral, the most amazing is the rear of the altar, a whole piece of stained glass to the east of the church, the famous "Great East Window", the area is equivalent to a tennis court. The glass window covered almost half of the east wall, becoming a "light-transmitting wall", is the world's largest medieval stained glass window. It was designed between 1405 and 1408, 23 meters high, composed of more than 100 pictures, fully show the medieval period, glass dyeing, cutting, combination of wonderful technology, and large area glass to support the east wall of the building power is also breathtaking. The Great Western Window "Heart of York" is the UK's widest Gothic nave with wooden ceilings imitating stone (painting with paint), while the side porch is a stone arched roof. At the west end is the "big west window", which is a heart-shaped pattern, decorated with late-decorated flower-painted glass, so it is called "the heart of York". The "five sister window" at the north end of the five sister window church (The Five Sisters Window) is the oldest glass window of York cathedral, about 15 meters high. The five glazed spire windows are geometrically assembled and show a gray-green hue rather than colorful, unlike the usual medieval painted glass windows with story or symbolic motifs. The Five Sisters window is also the largest gray monochrome glass window in the UK. The ear hall of the ear hall of the ear hall. The octagonal auditorium is solemn and luxurious. The five sister windows of the north ear hall are the oldest glass windows of the York cathedral. Most of the painted glass was produced in 1250 AD; The rose window of the South Ear Hall commemorates the marriage between the Lancaster and the York royal family. From the South Ear Hall, the Palace Museum descends the steps to the Dome Basement, the Treasury, and the Crypt. Time flows back to 1967, when engineers working to strengthen the foundation unexpectedly discovered that it was a Roman synagogue. The towers climb the church towers and cross the steep stone steps of 275, many places like a line of sky, only to pass sideways. Standing on the 71-meter tower, the nearby spire is magnificent, and in the distance is a panoramic view of York with a panoramic view of the mountains. [Beautiful shooting skills] The morning light is suitable for shooting the Dadong window and the rose window. The sunset in the evening is suitable for shooting the heart of York in the tower and the Great Western window. You can take a panoramic view of York when you climb the tower. York City is not big, if you want to come a few times at different times, you can harvest surprise photography. Small Tips: Tickets are valid for one year and can be taken. Volunteers are free to explain every hour, follow the guide to touch the history of zero distance. There is a night prayer choir every day. Weekdays 17:00, Sundays 16:00 (time is subject to actual). Free admission, the voice of the sky is definitely worth listening to, but no photos are allowed. Great church to visit! The largest church north of the European Alps, the Romans began to lay the foundation, the Anglo-Saxons, the Vikings were all adding bricks, and after William the Conqueror came, the peak of the Middle Ages, and the religious center of northern England, which was compared to Westminster Abbey. York Cathedral. When you walk in, you will see the west window and the flower windows on both sides. It is very beautiful. When you go in, you will see the whole east window. It is shocking! The content of the visit inside is rich, and it is also a good place to walk and rest. 👍 It is a worthwhile trip to leave enough time! The location is not far from the train station, and it is also close to another Yorkshire Museum and St Mary's Abbey Gardens worth visiting, all within walking distance. It's just that the wind in York in spring is relatively strong, and the road is a bit cold.

York City is not big, the magnificent York Cathedral is even more spectacular, located in the city center, the surrounding meat shop market is not selected. The interior of the cathedral personally feels that the biblical stories on the vault and glass windows are worth seeing, and there are two underground exhibition halls.

I got a 20 minutes window at the York station and decided to go for a walk. You could see the building far away even from the station and it was a quick walk. I remember getting stunned by the size of it. Although one side was still under construction, the other sides is in perfect condition and generally a gorgeous architecture. Manny locals like to sit and chill near it and the tourists like to take pictures of it.

Buy tickets for adults on the spot for 16 pounds (l6x9= 144) per person. The Ctrip handling fee is too high. It is recommended to buy tickets on the spot and basically do not need to queue. The cathedral is a must to go, very shocking!
