Reviews: Japan Kyoto 1-day tour · 9-person group Sanzen-in · Kifune Shrine · Arashiyama · Sagano train Tenryu-ji
Guest User2026-10-16
This time, I signed up for a Kyoto day trip that included Sanzen-in Temple, Kifune Shrine, the Arashiyama Scenic Railway, and Tenryu-ji Temple. The overall experience was excellent, and I especially want to commend our driver, Mr. Liu Wei. I was initially worried about the complex mountain roads and the rushed itinerary, but the entire day's journey was very smooth. Mr. Liu Wei's professionalism greatly enhanced the trip. First and foremost, his driving skills were superb, making the ride very reassuring. The mountain roads leading to Sanzen-in and Kifune Shrine are winding, narrow, and have many inclines and declines, with heavy traffic. Mr. Liu Wei drove smoothly throughout, handling curves and decelerations skillfully. We barely felt any bumps in the car. One of our group of three is prone to motion sickness, but everyone was fine throughout the entire mountain road trip. Whether in city or mountainous areas, his speed control was steady, ensuring complete safety. Mr. Liu Wei is punctual and reliable, with a strong sense of time. He arrived at the meeting point early in the morning, and the vehicle was ready, so we didn't have to wait. Each attraction confirmed the meeting time with us, and the vehicle was always waiting for us when we returned to the agreed location after each visit. We never had to search for the car. Parking is scarce around Sanzen-in Temple and Kifune Shrine, but the driver was very familiar with the area and knew the locations of nearby parking lots, allowing us to plan our parking in advance and saving us a lot of time searching for spaces. This gave us more time to explore and avoid a rushed, superficial experience. The vehicle was very well maintained; it was clean and odor-free, the air conditioning was at a comfortable temperature, and the seats were comfortable. After visiting multiple attractions in a day, resting in the car didn't feel oppressive or tiring, effectively relieving the fatigue from walking. The driver was kind and patient. He patiently answered all our questions about routes and attractions, sharing helpful local travel tips and pointing out the entrances and exits of attractions to help us plan our route. Since we were traveling as a group of three, we had a flexible pace. If we stopped to take photos and were slightly delayed, the driver was very patient and didn't rush us. He was also willing to make short stops for us to take photos, provided road conditions allowed—his service was very thoughtful. The entire itinerary was seamlessly connected, from Sanzen-in Temple and Kifune Shrine to Arashiyama and Tenryu-ji Temple. The route was well-planned with virtually no unnecessary detours. The Arashiyama Scenic Railway's schedule was also perfectly timed, ensuring we didn't miss our train ride. Traveling with three people already offers a high degree of freedom, and having a professional driver like Mr. Liu Wei significantly enhanced the overall experience. Compared to other day tours I've participated in before, this itinerary largely matched the platform's description. There were no hidden costs or forced shopping, and the pace was just right. It allowed us to fully appreciate the tranquility of Sanzen-in Temple's gardens and the unique features of Kifune Shrine, as well as enjoy the bamboo groves of Arashiyama and the scenery of Tenryu-ji Temple. I highly recommend this day tour. If you happen to be assigned to Mr. Liu Wei, it will be an excellent experience. He is steady, meticulous, a professional driver, punctual, and responsible. With him driving the entire way, the journey was much more worry-free. I hope to have the opportunity to meet Mr. Liu Wei again if I book a day tour in Kansai in the future. I highly recommend this Kyoto day tour!

Reviews: Kyoto Day Tour: Arashiyama + Sanzen-in + Kifune Shrine (Departure from Osaka or Kyoto | Optional Hotel Pickup / Small Group with Sagano Romantic Train)
Guest User2026-09-07
Having visited Kyoto several times, I finally realized I should explore more attractions instead of just stopping at Hanamikoji, Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi, Inari, and Nishiki Market. So, I joined a small day tour to see three places I'd never been before. Since many Kyoto attractions are scattered, it's really inconvenient to visit several places in one day without a car. Sanzen-in Temple, Kifune Shrine, and Arashiyama—if I had to choose, I'd visit Sanzen-in Temple multiple times; it's so beautiful! Of course, early September isn't peak autumn foliage season, so Arashiyama wasn't at its most beautiful. Personally, I felt that without the autumn leaves, the place resembled Anji or Tonglu in Zhejiang—green mountains, clear water, and bamboo forests, nothing particularly special. The small tour departed from Osaka, which was especially convenient for us living in Kyoto, as we could sleep in a little longer, have breakfast, and wait for the tour bus to pick us up. The driver even arranged for me to be a tour guide on the spot, giving me tickets for the Sagano Scenic Railway and letting me lead nine people on a round-trip train journey and arrange seating. It was quite fun.

Reviews: [Kyoto Autumn Foliage Season] A one-day tour of Kyoto: Sanzen-in Temple, Kifune Shrine, Arashiyama Scenic Railway, Tenryu-ji Temple
Guest User2026-07-27
Our trip started in Kyoto and then went to Osaka. On our last day in Kyoto, we joined a one-day tour that visited Sanzen-in Temple and then Kibune, two places I really wanted to see. The point-to-point transportation was much more convenient than taking the bus myself. However, the part in Nanzan was okay; the driver wasn't very familiar with the area, and I hadn't done any research on Arashiyama, so we didn't really explore it, just rode the Sagano Scenic Railway. Overall, I was satisfied, but those prone to motion sickness should sit in the front.

Our tour guide, Oscar, is young but experienced. He departs on time and provides engaging commentary in both Chinese and English throughout the day. He sends real-time information about attractions, meeting times, and parking locations to all tourists, making it easy for everyone to plan their visit. The itinerary is also well-balanced, making it a very worthwhile trip!

Reviews: Kyoto in a Day: The Ultimate Top 4 Highlights Tour (From Osaka/Kyoto)
Guest User2026-08-23
Oscar, our guide, was excellent in both English and Chinese, providing detailed explanations and taking care of everyone in the group! The overall itinerary was well-paced, with a well-planned route that made the trip enjoyable without being tiring. The guide led us through the interior and exterior of Nijo Castle. In Arashiyama, he guided us to the entrance of the bamboo grove; at Kinkaku-ji and Fushimi Inari, he led us to the entrance of the scenic area, explaining the route, time, and pick-up point. It was fantastic! Although we booked a 46-person group due to the heat, it was actually a small group with a guide and driver. Excellent value for money, great value for money, and very convenient to get on and off at Kyoto Station. Thank you! We also met another guide, Gao, plus a very knowledgeable international student! He helped take care of the Chinese-speaking tourists in the group and took photos for us. Thank you! My husband got along very well with him.

Reviews: 1-day tour to Amanohashidate, one of Japan's three scenic views & Ine no Funaya in the sea of Kyoto
Guest User2026-10-25
Our tour guide, Sister Lai, was incredibly kind and spoke so gently 🥰 She even prepared a guide to tell us which photo spots were must-sees – she was so thoughtful! The entire tour was guided in Chinese, and her explanations were insightful and impressive 👍🏻 Highly recommended! Plus, since many tour buses travel the same routes that day, Sister Lai's meticulous planning helped us avoid the crowded tourist spots – absolutely fantastic! The journey was really long, and the bus was completely full, making it quite cramped. I'm so grateful that a travel agency could help arrange such a long trip ☀️ The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful, and I was truly touched 🥹🥹
