Reviews: Gobustan & Mud Volcanoes Half Day Adventure
Guest User2026-10-04
We took a tour of Gobustan and the mud volcanoes. The Formula 1 races were going on at the time, and the entire city was closed, so we were running late for the meeting point. Mamed suggested we go straight to the first location. It was convenient, and we didn't have to wait for the others. We really enjoyed the tour. Mamed shared interesting facts and brightened everyone's day with his jokes. The trip to the mud volcanoes included extreme racing in old Lada cars. It was exciting and fun! The petroglyphs were very impressive. Thanks to Mamed for the tour!

Reviews: Baku mud volcanoes + Ateshgah Fire Temple + mosque + petroglyphs 1-day tour [available for solo travelers]

The itinerary included major attractions around Baku, making for a very fulfilling day trip. The most worthwhile sight was the rock paintings, many of which are well-preserved and have been standing for many years on the hillsides along the Caspian Sea, reflecting the lives of the early inhabitants. I saw mud volcanoes for the first time, although calling them volcanoes felt a bit inaccurate. Azerbaijan truly lives up to its name as the Land of Fire, with many naturally occurring fires, reflecting its abundant oil and gas resources. It's understandable that it was once one of the main centers of Zoroastrianism; the natural conditions were indeed in line with the religion's doctrines.
