During the Qing Dynasty, Ulan Butung was part of the Mulan Hunting Grounds. Because this is the site where Emperor Kangxi took command of the Qing army in the battle where Galdan Boshugtu Khan was killed, and even more so because of the beautiful European-style pastoral scenery, this has become a renown filming site for movies and television, famous both within China and overseas. The scenery here is graceful and beautiful. There are grasslands, mountains, rivers, dense forests, ancient battlefields and other ancient relics of war. This site contains both the elegant and graceful femininity of the South as well as the masculine strength and vitality of the North.Hexigten Banner · 81.1 km from downtown

Hongshan Park is located in the northeast of Chifeng's urban area and was built along the ochre-red Hongshan mountain. It is one of the larger comprehensive parks in the city. In Mongolian, this mountain is called "Ulan Hada," meaning "red peak," which is the origin of Chifeng's city name. The Hongshan Culture is also named after it. A stroll through the park offers a glimpse into the history of this city. The park is known for its water scenery. Crescent Lake, at the foot of Hongshan in the northeast, is named for its crescent shape. Moon-Viewing Bridge and Sister Bridge are built on the east and west sides of the lake, respectively. Between the two bridges, there are garden huts and the Lotus Viewing Bridge. In midsummer, the lotus pond is in full bloom. In the east, Wupan Lake is lined with weeping willows. The island in the center of the lake is connected to the shore by a Nine-Turn Bridge and an arched bridge. The lake is equipped with water recreation facilities such as pleasure boats, making it perfect for boating and sightseeing. On the east bank of Wupan Lake, the Chile Garden is shaded by greenery and dotted with yurts, offering a distinct Mongolian grassland vibe. If you get tired from walking, you can enjoy local ethnic meals there. Remember to look up at the mountain while visiting: on sunny days, the morning glow or sunset reflects on the ochre-red rock face, making the entire mountain look as if it is ablaze. The lake, the arched bridge, and Hongshan in the same frame create a signature view of the park, which is also what sets this park apart from ordinary city parks.Chifeng · 2.9 km from downtown

Huamugou National Forest Park

The total area of Huamugou National Forest Park in Keshiketeng Banner, Inner Mongolia is 41,858 hectares. It is located in the Saihanba area on the eastern section of the Yanshan Mountains and the northern edge of the Qilaotu Mountains. It is well-known throughout the country for its rich grassland landscape on the Bashang grassland. It is known as the pearl of Bashang and a natural oxygen bar! The park integrates mountains, hills, plateaus, sandy land, forests and grasslands, and integrates meadow jungles, grassland lakes, characteristic scenic forests, wild animals, seasonal phases, and natural landscapes in one place. It can be called a tourist attraction. In spring, azaleas, primroses, irises, etc. bloom in competition; in summer, the sun is covered by dense shade, and natural wild fruits hang on the branches, which are refreshing to taste; in autumn, the Attraction is colorful and the forests are dyed; in winter, it is covered with snow, and the rime and snow birch are covered in silver, and the trees are jade-like. Looking far away, the white birch trees all over the mountains are like graceful girls, swaying in the luxuriance of summer, the splendor of autumn, and the purity of winter. How can one not admire the beauty? The occasional bird calls and deer calls attract the curious. In the depths of the jungle, wild animals such as Northeast Red Deer and Roe Deer appear from time to time. It is not difficult to imagine what a mysterious and harmonious scenery it is. Due to its unique geographical structure and cultural environment, Huamugou National Forest Park is beautiful all year round, especially in autumn and winter. In summer, Huamugou National Forest Park is a resort for cooling off and escaping the heat. The forests are lush and cool, and the summer is as cool as spring. Birds are singing and dancing. In autumn, Huamugou National Forest Park has high skies, blue waters, light winds, and colorful forests. The beauty of Huamugou National Forest Park lies in the word "natural". The village is not big and is hidden in the ditch. If you don't stop your car, you will hardly find it even if you drive by the village. The slope is not steep, but there are gullies and ravines. There are patches of white birch trees on the top of the mountain, irregular terraces on the hillside, and old elm trees with graceful postures in groups of three or two at the foot of the mountain. In the gaps between the trees are sheep folds and cattle pens surrounded by magnolias, which are either circular or rectangular. There is no unified planning, no deliberate arrangement, and no guidance from any artist. Everything is so natural, and everything conforms to the aesthetic norms of staggered heights, sparse and dense interlacing, and the combination of crooked and straight. On the green grassland like the sea, under the clear blue sky, accompanied by the cheerful horse-head fiddle and long pastoral songs, enjoying the pure air of the natural oxygen bar with the fragrance of green grass, isn't this the pure land that you have been dreaming about and the feeling you want to get back?Hexigten Banner · 65.8 km from downtown

Dada Line is a scenic grassland highway located in Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. It spans approx. 135 km, starting at Dali Lake (which means "lake like the sea" in Mongolian) and ending at the Arshihaty Stone Forest at the southern end of the Greater Khingan Mountains, connecting lake scenery at one end and the stone forest at the other. The route encapsulates typical elements of Inner Mongolia's scenery: when crossing the Gongger Prairie, herds of cattle, sheep, and horses are scattered across the grassland, winding rivers reflect the blue sky and white clouds, and the road seems to stretch endlessly toward the horizon; passing through the Baiyin Aobao Scenic Area, the roadside changes to vast stretches of primitive sandy spruce forests. This type of spruce rooted in sandy soil is rare worldwide, and the lush green forest belt forms a sharp contrast with the open grassland, which is also what distinguishes this route from ordinary grassland highways.Hexigten Banner · 38.5 km from downtown

Daqing Mountain is located in Bairin Right Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, and belongs to the southern section of the Greater Khingan Range and the Xar Moron River basin. It is situated in the transition zone between mountain forests and grasslands, where sparse forests and meadows alternate on the hillsides. The summers are cool, making it suitable for hiking and escaping the heat; the lush vegetation provides a habitat for birds and small wildlife, and the mountains are often filled with birdsong. Throughout the year, the scenery in the fall is particularly outstanding: once fall arrives, the leaves gradually turn yellow and red, with red, yellow, and green colors interweaving across the hillsides, making it a great time for hiking and photography; in late spring, wildflowers dot the forest edges; midsummer is lush and green; and in winter, there is often snow, presenting a northern snowy mountain landscape. Climbing to the heights offers a wide view, and on clear days, you can overlook the surrounding grasslands and fields, with distinct layers of light and shadow at sunrise and sunset.Bairin Right Banner · 14.9 km from downtown

This grassland is highly recommended. We visited in autumn, and although it wasn't as golden, it's still worth a second visit. The grassland in spring is much greener, stretching as far as the eye can see like an oasis. While the birch forests are beautiful from afar, up close they're covered in horse manure—black and polluting, making the grassland smell and the experience unpleasant for tourists, completely masking the earthy aroma. We suggest that the horse owners pick up the manure to give tourists a better impression. Overall, it's a very beautiful environment and worth visiting. Be prepared for the cold; it gets just as cold, or even colder, at night.

Towering stone forests, accompanied by birch groves, offer a breathtaking view as you wander among the grey rock formations and golden leaves, experiencing the wonders of nature. Grass grows beneath the trees, while blue skies and white clouds rise above the stone forest, creating a vibrant atmosphere. In the distance, alpine meadows stretch out, vast and magnificent. The path leading here is also a tapestry of meadows and forests, with valleys and grasslands shifting and changing – a continuous panorama of beauty. The unique scenery of the Stone Forest, unlike any other place, is definitely worth a visit.

Hongshan Museum and Hongshan Park are adjacent to each other, the origin of the city's name Chifeng, and also a landmark scenic spot. It's best to visit in the afternoon, as the setting sun casts a vibrant red glow on the mountains, making for stunning photos. The museum displays artifacts unearthed from the ancient Hongshan Culture, the most famous being the jade dragon, a symbol of Chifeng. The original is currently housed in the National Museum of China, but here it's shown as a 3D projection. The park is now a public park for Chifeng residents, where many people spend holidays.

Chifeng Hongshan Park is located 2 kilometers northeast of Chifeng City. It is the largest park in the urban area. Lotus flowers are in full bloom in the garden, and the Red Mountain not far away can be clearly seen. It is said that Chifeng City got its name from this mountain.

I highly recommend Huamugou National Forest Park in Keshiketeng Banner, Chifeng! It's a hidden gem where forest and grassland seamlessly blend. The vast, straight birch forests are breathtaking, and in autumn, the golden leaves against the backdrop of evergreen pines and fiery red shrubs create a vibrant, almost painterly scene. The lakes and mountains of Hama Dam and Jinchan Lake offer stunning views, especially at sunrise when the reflections on the water are breathtaking – a paradise for photographers. Hiking along the wooden boardwalks is easy, and the fresh air is filled with the fragrance of grass and trees – a truly therapeutic natural oxygen bar. July and August are perfect for escaping the summer heat, while late September to early October is when the autumn colors are at their peak. The roads are easy to drive on, and the park is clean. While the dining options aren't luxurious, the authentic experience is unparalleled. It's perfect for road trips within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, family outings, and photography trips – you won't regret coming!

The lakes on the grassland are very precious. Dali Lake, the second largest lake in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has beautiful scenery. The wetlands in the South Bank Scenic Area are also worth a visit. Maybe because of the drought this year, the grass around it is not growing very well!
