The JR Pass is very convenient, affordable, and reasonably priced. To get to Hakata Station, you first need to exchange your pass at the blue Information Center, then go to the green JR machine to book your ticket. When entering the gate, you need to insert both your JR Pass and ticket into the machine. A 5-day JR Pass costs ¥17,000, and the fare for taking the Shinkansen to Kumamoto, Yufuin no Mori, and Shimobeppu, etc., already exceeds the cost of the pass.★

Buses are generally comfortable and spacious, much better than crowded trains in most situations. The ability to use e-tickets across days is a major advantage, perfect for trips where you can spend two days exploring before returning, making it easier to recoup your investment. However, during large events, network congestion can cause issues like being unable to access the interface. In my case, it was my network problem; it took a long time for the text to load. After explaining to the driver, I was able to get off successfully. Booking reserved seats across cities online is also convenient; you can simply pick up your ticket at the counter in advance.★
