Loved the historic location & the music. Easy access via the funicular. Took advantage of going to the fortress an hour before the show to walk around, enjoy the views and take photos. The show was incredible. The musicians are so talented and did Mozart and other composers justice.

I booked the VIP course. The river level was low, so the river cruise was shortened and it felt like I was just on a boat, but I received a 5 euro refund, and I was glad that the captain did his best to make it as enjoyable as possible. Dinner at the castle walls was a lovely experience with a view of the mountains from the window, and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the concert from the front row, and champagne was served during the intermission.

This half day tour is a great and convenient way to visit Hallstat. It is of course more expensive than taking the train or public bus+ferry to get to Hallstat, but it is certainly a time-saver. It's essentially a direct bus trip to Hallstat with a bit of commentary of interesting places that we passed and some history. Once you reached Hallstat, you will go around on your own for about 2.5 hours and the bus will come to pick up at a certain time. The 1.5 hours ride is comfortable and there's a power point at your seat if you need to charge your phone.

Note that it's more expensive to buy on trip.com vs buying on the counter itself but it might be more convenient given it's denominated in local currency. It's very worth it to buy the card since the attractions covered more than offset the cost of the card. Note you need to go tourist info counter to collect the salzburg card which will be activated only after you visited your first attraction
