The Kansai Wide Area Railway Pass was very convenient. I went to Takayama and Toyama, and explored Kamikochi and Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. It was a very enjoyable trip.

It was a great deal! We landed in Fukuoka, took the airport express for free, then took it one stop to JR Hakata Station to exchange for JR Pass tickets. We visited many places. Our return trip was in Osaka, so it took exactly one week.

Very convenient and economical. Allows use of express trains in Tottori and Shimane, and most importantly, covers travel from Tottori to Osaka, as well as the Shinkansen section between Okayama and Osaka.

This ticket is super useful! It requires exchanging it at a specific station counter, but it can also be used by people going to Japan for working holidays. Hehehe. For those who plan ahead, it can save a lot of money and time. This time I went from Osaka to Shirahama on the Kuroshio Express, and the round trip was worth it!

This pass is best used if you are driving around the San In region and look at what is available. It's possible that this pass won't be worth it for you, but some people will use the value of the pass very quickly as it includes expensive attractions as well. Note that it is common for some rural locations to not know about the pass but it's not normally a problem. There are some great locations specifically around the Izumo, Yomago and Matsue area.
