Trip Moments in Dubai

Is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai worth it? My honest review and top life hacks

Visiting Dubai and not climbing the tallest building in the world would be a crime, so the Burj Khalifa was the highlight of our itinerary. We chose the classic climb to the At the Top observation deck (floors 124 and 125).

I'll be honest: the view, with an entire desert metropolis spread out beneath your feet and the enormous skyscrapers looking like toys, is simply mind-blowing!
But to avoid this climb becoming a complete stress-out experience, there are a few important details to know. The entrance to the observation deck is not from the street, but inside the enormous Dubai Mall on the lowest floor (LG - Lower Ground).

Be sure to allow an extra 20-30 minutes just to follow the signs inside the mall, as the distances are vast.

The most important advice is to buy tickets online in advance and for a specific time slot. We saw people trying to buy tickets at the box office the same day: not only are the prices several times higher, but there are often simply no available seats for the next few hours.
There are always lines for security and the express elevators, even with electronic tickets. We stood in line for about 40 minutes, but the elevator ride itself is a separate attraction: it soars to the 124th floor in less than a minute, while futuristic music plays inside, making your ears pop.

From personal experience: the best time to visit is about an hour before sunset (around 4:30–5:30 PM, depending on the season). You'll have time to see the city in daylight, catch an incredible pink sunset over the Persian Gulf, and then watch Dubai's nighttime lights come on. Plus, from up there, you have a great view of the fountain show; the music isn't very clear, but the scale is stunning.

The platform on the 124th floor is partially open, with special gaps in the glass where you can slide your phone for glare-free photos. There are so many people up there, you literally have to push your way to the glass to get a good shot. The platform on the 125th floor is completely enclosed, but it's more spacious, with an interactive "cracked" glass floor and a swing for photos. This place is truly legendary; it's worth visiting at least once in your life!

Subscribe, I'll try to share as many life hacks as possible. I'd love to hear from everyone 😊 #dubai
