The former residence of Ji Xiaolan is a courtyard of two sections. It is a cultural heritage site under municipal protection in Beijing. Facing south and located in the southeast corner of the courtyard, its main gate by the street is a saddle-roof gatehouse in a traditional style that represents auspiciousness and good luck. In the front yard there is a vine of wisteria said to have been planted by Ji Xiaolan himself. The famous Yuewei Cottage can be found at the front of the backyard.
