Sanping Temple is dedicated to the founder of the mountain, Yang Yizhong, who is honored as "Sanping Patriarch", and Tang Xuanzong once gave him the title "Guangji Master". Sanping Temple was built in the Tang Dynasty in 866 AD, and it has flourished since then. It has a long-standing reputation in southern Fujian, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia. There is an endless stream of pilgrims, especially on the sixth day of the first month of the lunar calendar, the sixth day of June, the sixth day of November and the founder of Sanping. On the birthday, monkhood, and passing away, it is full of people and incense. The existing monastery was rebuilt in the late Qing Dynasty. The whole monastery is built on the mountain, including the mountain gate, the Daxiong Hall, the Ancestral Hall, the Zhaitang and the monk's room, the pagoda hall, the second floor of the bell and the drum, etc. The structure is rigorous. In recent years, Guangji Garden, Baiguo Garden, Yingke Garden, Yangsheng Villa and other supporting facilities have been built.

It is located in Wenfeng Town, Pinghe County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, nearly 50 kilometers away from Zhangzhou City. It is surrounded by mountains and sprawling forests. The rolling bamboo waves, beautiful mountains and clear waters, and the scenery are beautiful and varied, especially in spring, when the magnolias are in full bloom. The golden statue of the founder on the top of the mountain is very spectacular.
