Founded in 1994, the Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival gained international recognition in 1998 and became a member of the European Festivals Association in 2003, making it a prominent festival worldwide. The festival seamlessly blends the unique history and superb acoustics of the 2,000-year-old Aspendos Ancient Theater with the natural beauty of Antalya and the power of art that transcends language, religion, and ethnicity. In fact, 70% of the audience comes from abroad. Organized by the Turkish State Opera and Ballet Directorate, the Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival has been a major event on the global art scene since 1994, attracting countless art enthusiasts. The festival presents the finest opera and ballet productions at the historic Aspendos Theater, attracting audiences of 4,000 to 6,000 each. Renowned for its exceptional acoustics and rich history, the ancient theater of Aspendos attracts artists and troupes from around the world, earning it a reputation as a crossroads of civilizations.
