Use Japanese-style room (with breakfast without bath and toilet). The facilities were old but well cleaned and comfortable. The bath is not a hot spring, but locals come in and take it at night and in the morning. The open-air bath was closed in winter and it was not a Yukimi bath, but it warms up with plenty of hot water. Locals also use it. The breakfast was simple, but the number of items was delicious. The staff are kind and friendly.
The property is located just opposite the train station. We arrived at 9:30 am, did the check-in procedure, and then left luggage there so that we were luggage-free when we went on hiking on one of the section of the Nakasendo. We did not have to explain, the host simply accepted our luggage gracefully.
The breakfast and dinner were delicious. The host and staff were very polite and helpful. Some of the staff spoke very good English and explained to us the different types of sauces for each dish.
I think the facilities could be made better with some simple adjustments.
The room was a bit small, we knew that when we made booking. However, I think the room could be more roomly if not so many furnitures were put in the room.
The public bath room was small. If someone is having a shower, the water could easily splash into the bath water and persons sitting in the bath. I suggest the host to change the male and female baths into 2 private baths, allowing prior booking each time for 40 min. Booking can easily be done by self-service.
With these minor adjustments, the stay could be more enjoyable.
The room was clean and the housekeeping staff would send water to the room during the evening meal.
Two days of kaiseki dinner is not awkward, very looking forward to the freshness. The staff in the hall are very kind, and the students are very good at English and proactive. I appreciate the staff service in the hall very much and deserve praise!
The hotel lobby is designed in a traditional style with flowers and flowers everywhere, which is like a work of art.
The room design is quite old, but the maintenance is not bad.
Hotel is very nice, big hotel we choose the room is annex room and have to walk and find the aisle its quite difficult to find .
The onsen is good, annex building have onsen too and also mountain stone sauna, some area is pay area and have free area as well, have to ask, not all the staff can speak english i think only 1 staff can speak english and very friendly.
When you check in have to pay 150yen for the local onsen tax. Left side of the hotel have many restaurant, lawson
It was the first night of my entire trip—and also the most expensive one. But it was absolutely worth it!
Lake Suwa was right in front of the hotel. If you take the train, it might be a bit of a walk, but since I drove, the location was perfect.
The hotel was incredibly spacious, and the onsen was lovely.
Dinner (a full course meal) was exceptional, and breakfast was just as impressive—absolutely delicious!
One thing I still wonder about: what were those insects outside the window at night?
They clung to the glass, and I was afraid they might get inside. Thankfully, the window seals were excellent, so none of them made it indoors. Only the outdoor bath had a few, which was understandable.
I truly hope I can go back again—with my mom next time!
Traditional hotel at the end of famous shopping street
They provided plubic bath(No onsen) for guest
Tatami room is nice , and Breakfast was not so bad.
Hotel is in good location to enjoy yoyr stay and workout to sightseeing Karuizawa nearby.
The room facilities are relatively simple, and I am not particular about traveling alone. The room has a refrigerator, a heater, a small table and a small chair, and only a mattress. The hotel has hot springs, the public bathroom is clean, there is 24-hour hot water, there are many toiletries, coffee and tea are available all day, and the boss is very considerate of the free items. You need to take off your shoes when you enter the door. The hotel is clean, the service is very warm and warm, and they also send you to the station for free. The price-performance ratio of the booking on Ctrip is good. I will stay at this hotel again when I get off the bus to Karuizawa. It is about one stop away from the station. Go straight on the main road opposite the station and turn left at the first traffic light. There is a Chinese restaurant at the intersection. Go in about 50 meters and you will see the hotel name on the telephone pole. Turn left and you will see the hotel name on the telephone pole 30 meters away. It takes about ten minutes to go shopping when you go to Kyu Karuizawa.
This place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night.
Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.
A great hotel, friendly staff, very delicious and diverse food. I liked everything!!! For small children not very convenient in the room because of many lifts movement is dangerous, my child fell many times and I had to walk after him on the heels.
It was amazing! Starting from meeting at the station and ending with perfect water temperature!
I had amazing experience with kaiseki cuisine, which this hotel provide. It was so tasty and so many things, that I was overeating. 😅 And I meet a samurai (mascot) during the dinner. ☺️
The room was exactly the same with picture and really comfortable.👍🏻
It is possible to take a private bath in the hotel. I used this service and can say, that I totally enjoyed it!
As you can understand, I am really impressed by this hotel.
Highly recommend it!

LLingziIt was very comfortable with the feeling of staying in a comfortable house.
I felt the richness of nature from the window and was quiet and relaxing.
GGuest UserHonestly, I can't praise this place enough.
The owners are a really lovely couple; very welcoming and extremely helpful. The rooms are great - plenty of space and all the amenities you need for a short stay. The onsen is just the best - it's a private one that you can lock the door to and have to yourself for as long as you can cope with the hot water!
But the *food* - wow! The food is absolutely fantastic and expertly cooked. Honestly, I've eaten in Michelin starred restaurants with food that wasn't as good as this. On top of that, at our first evening meal, we found that the message hadn't been relayed about my wife being a pescatarian. Anywhere else that might have been a problem, but within twenty-five minutes an entire new fish meal had been prepared and served - and was absolutely amazing. We were SO impressed.
Also, what a truly beautiful location. Oh yes, and they have *monkeys*!! They wandered past the property in the evening and wandered back the next morning.
I'm trying to name anything negative and I honestly can't - the closest thing I can think of is that the property is hard to locate and you definitely need a car to get there, but if you can get there, do - it was one of two equal-best places we've stayed at in Japan.
Thank you to the owners (sorry, I never asked your names) for a wonderful stay in your home.

Kkana.tabiThe meals in the evening and in the morning were delicious! I went in the middle of summer, but it was so cool and comfortable that I was able to sleep with the windows open at night without turning on the air conditioner. I was a little worried about the unisex toilets on the second floor, but the toilets on the first floor were separated for men and women, so I used the one on the first floor.
The owner was also very kind, and after checking out, he drove me to the nearest station. This was very helpful as I had a lot of luggage. The price was also reasonable, so I was very satisfied. I would like to use this hotel again on my next summer trip to Nagano.
GGuest UserThe location is very good, a few tens of meters away is a free bus stop, you can go to various ski resorts, the boss is very enthusiastic, can provide the village station shuttle and a lot of help you need, we stayed for three nights, arranged a two-story suite, The toilet kitchen living room is independent, the tatami is upstairs, very warm and warm, next time you choose to go here
RRaeMeteor Garden is located conveniently 5-7min drive from main Hakuba Village. One thing to note is that the main cafe in the stay is not open so need to find other dining alternatives. Rooms and amenities are clean and well maintained, the one issue is that it’s not well marked on Google map as it keeps pointing to the restaurant which was not opened and gave us a false alarm. Wifi is not the fastest and does not handle multiple devices that well especially when you are trying to work. There was some confusion when booked via Trip as the contact information was somehow truncated so hotel was unable to contact me without going through Trip thus messages were delayed. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and everyone had a great time…
AAnonymous User1. The house is very clean and well-maintained, with complete cooking utensils, dishes, cups and bowls, and a large refrigerator. You own the entire house, including a dining room, living room and 2 bedrooms. Parking is also very convenient next to the house.
2. It is a 20-minute drive from Ogizawa Station, suitable for those who drive to visit Tateyama Kurobe.
3. On the first night, we encountered a magnitude 5 earthquake in Nagano. The epicenter was nearby and the whole house was shaking noticeably. The staff arrived quickly to inquire about the guests’ safety and were very attentive.
4. It is suggested to add a sofa, because not everyone likes to sit on the floor in the Japanese style.
5. Please bring your own slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste as they are not provided.
TTeddyOverall, our stay was enjoyable, and the chalet matched the photos. However, I’d rate it 3.5 stars due to poor value for the peak-season price. Check-in instructions were unclear, leaving us to search for our villa in the cold. There were no manuals for the heater, boiler, or washer, and the boiler kept turning off unexpectedly. The concierge was attentive, but these issues dampened the experience. These manuals / improvements / attention to detail should be easy fixes for the management company, but a major oversight for a company that prides itself on hospitality.
PPunziizThis hotel is beyond my imagination. OMG ! The place was so amazing I chose Chalet with my family member 8 persons. They really in love with the place and all speak the same that we will definitely come back again ! The owner has a service to bring you to the supermarket at 4 pm everyday. That's awesome we can do cooking and enjoy precious meals with our family. There are not many houses here so it is the best option for anyone who looking for the cozy places and can also enjoy the wonderful snowy view. Thank you Ms. Hana to take care of us along the stay ! :)))
