The location of the hotel is relatively remote, but the environment is very good. It is next to the Tamar River. The hotel was renovated from a granary. There are still some original barns outside and inside. There is a large free parking lot in front of the hotel. The hotel room is very large. The bed in the twin room is very big, and the tables and chairs inside are very clean. I specially chose to bring breakfast, but the breakfast is a bit poor. The a la carte breakfast is not very large and the taste is not very good.

Best Western Launceston is a basic, but clean, safe, comfortable well-priced hotel in the centre of Launceston. It's well positioned for the Botanic Gardens and monkey enclosure, right in the centre of the city, and not too far from the river. The room had everything you'd need, or expect, for this price. But what raised the place for me was the service. On a badly delayed flight I didn't arrive until after midnight, but the night manger appeared swiftly, helped me check in, and never once complained about being dragged to the front desk in the middle of the night.

We stayed here in September 2022 and just loved our visit. The hotel was exceptionally vibrant, clean, modern, well located and had brilliant service. The rooms are very comfortable with big areas around beds with room to move and put belongings and the bathrooms were very clean and modern. The staff were always helpful and friendly and the hotel was very well located within easy walking distance of downtown areas. We especially loved the beautiful foyer area and accessible bar and restaurant areas. Would definitely recommend.

I appreciate a hotel that offers a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave! It always helps being able to cook a little. The view was quite good too, overlooking Launceston, and it was an easy walk into town. Beds weren’t comfy with the springs being closer to the surface than I hoped. And whilst it may be small, the TV only picked up SBS Food. A good channel, but after a big day exploring it’s nice to just zone out which I couldn’t do. Would recommend for a short, overnight stay.

I totally loved my stay at the Pod Inn!! Pros - Walkable to most major sites. - Short walking distance to groceries, restaurants, and stores - Has a restaurant beside/attached to (?) the hostel - Pods are private and spacious (and I'm a big guy!) Bed was cozy too! - Lights and air conditioning adjustable inside the pods - Place has wifi - Has a charging station for phones inside the pods - Common area has kitchen Cons - Reception is only open during business hours, so might be difficult to contact anyone outside those hours - Luggage locker is outside - Pods not too soundproof Over all I never thought I'd love staying at a pod hotel and I'm very happy that I had a wonderful experience with Pod Inn Launceston!

We had 3 rooms booked for a 2 night stay from 1st November which we booked through Booking.com. We checked into the Cornwall Hotel approximately 3.30pm on the 1st November. Upon arrival we were greeted by a pleasant staff member which gave us our keys. We all went to our rooms & were all very disappointed upon entering. The smell of filthy stained carpet , very tired & marked Furniture & the bathroom was appalling. Mould on the walls & stains that look like vomit & urine up the walls . The stainless steel shower was like a men’s urinal & was also dirty. Nothing like the pictures on the advertising. Why we didn’t just leave right then & there I don’t know. Looking for a positive I guess & hoping things would get better . We stayed in our room for approximately 1 hour before venturing out for a walk to the park followed by dinner together . We returned to the hotel at approximately 9pm . We climbed into bed shortly after & were hearing constant doors opening & closing , lots of people talking in the corridors so it was very hard to relax. Around 9.30pm very loud Alarms were going off in the corridor & the yelling & shouting began. I opened the door to see many people running down the corridors & unsavoury people yelling and swearing up & down the hall. These people were Caucasian males. This was the final straw . We got changed ,packed our bags along with our family members & went down stairs . Where we were greeted by the fire brigade & a lot of chaos, no sign of any staff at all . We went outside where we stood for the next 15 minutes or so & still no staff . No direction , no evacuation plan , nothing . We made the decision to leave the keys in the lock box on the counter. As I was waiting for my husband to bring the car to the front of the hotel to load all our luggage I saw a man behind the counter through the window from outside. I went in & asked if he was the manager in which he responded yes. I proceeded to tell him we were checking out as we were not happy with our rooms & what we had witnessed in the 1 1/2 hours of our stay there. We felt unsafe & the rooms were just filthy as well as people yelling obscenities in the corridors . He proceeded to yell at me & asked me what room numbers I had & made me feel very uncomfortable . I told him the keys were put in the box there & that we had three rooms . He moved to the front of the counter & in my face telling me I was racist & proceeded to yell at me & inciting what I believe may have been workers living in the building sitting in the foyer by saying I hated them & was racist ! This was so wrong! He was out of control and very rude. He asked what’s wrong with the room. I started telling him & he wanted me to show him. I followed him along with my elderly father up the stairs & down the corridor where he continued to yell & scream to people in the corridors that I hated them & was racist which I replied , “How dare you say that, I’ve never said such things.” I started videoing him f

It is in the city and very convenient to take public transport or visit tourist information centre to join tours. There are lots of warehouses, department stores, shops, cafe or restaurants around. I would like to give the reception staff Lisa and Karen 10 out of 10 for wonderful service. I was trying to get a bed for one night and rang the hotel as I'd booked on what I thought was their website - I'd booked the wrong night and couldn't change it. Lisa was the lady I spoke to and she very kindly sorted it for me in such a lovely manner. Then when I arrived Karen was on reception and the welcome was warm and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Personality plus, what an asset! The room was on the small side but comfortable, spotless and had a fabulous view of the city. It is also within walking distance of two theatres, bars and restaurants. A genuine pleasure to stay here, thank you ladies.

Wow! We stayed in apartment 10 which was the 3 bedroom accommodation. It was huge and more than enough for a family of 4. Nice lounge and dining area and modern kitchen with all the appliances you would need. We came late and had to check in after hours which the staff organised for us without issues. Free car park in the front. A bit of a workout walking up the hill but a good morning exercise ;) Location directly opposite the City Park and only minutes walk from the main mall. A quick walk to cafes for breakfast. The only negative was the wifi didn’t work, but not really an issue. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Not recommended if you have heavy baggage as theres no elevator (only 2 floors though). The place is beautiful as it’s on the top of a hill, but not so convenient if you’re on foot to sightseeing / do grocery so I’ll give it a 4. We didn’t need much service it’s mostly just DIY without much issue so I’ll give it a 5. The place is definitely clean so 5. Amenities would be 3 due to the stairs for heavy baggages (might not be an issue for everyone), also there’s no blind or door for the shower so the water would spill out to other areas in the washroom even if you are very cautious.

The room was nice with a clean bathroom and comfortable bed, however very small and seemed better suited to someone on business rather than holidaying. There was quite a bit of noise surrounding as the front door opened to the car park, and the walls must be thin because you can hear voices from neighbouring rooms. The car park was also full most of the time so finding a park was difficult. I’d only recommend staying for business purposes only. Location was good.

DISGUSTING! We entered the vuilding and immediately a disgusting smell of dirty feed crashed into our noses! We honestly wanted to throw up and at 7pm when we arrived there was already nobody in the reception to talk to or to complain to. My bunkbed had a chewing gum sticked on it (photo attached). At night people were loud till 1am and in the morning at 5am they were back on, behaving as if it was noon time. We complained the morning after to the hostal that did not assume any responsability, saying nobody ever complained. No compensation whatsoever, but how could we prove the disgusting smell of the building?! NEVER AGAIN. ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED.

As a solo traveller just spending one night in Launceston, The Star Hotel was the ideal choice. It is centrally located and street parking was easy to find and free between 17.30 and 09.00 next day. The room itself was compact but comfortable with an ensuite. The friendly, efficient female staff member was able to help with local advice and when I decided to have dinner later, the food and service were exceptional. Three see a couple of stair cases to negotiate but really no trouble. This place was a highlight of my travel in Tasmania.

We got changed ,packed our bags along with our family members & went down stairs . Where we were greeted by the fire brigade & a lot of chaos, no sign of any staff at all . We went outside where we stood for the next 15 minutes or so & still no staff . No direction , no evacuation plan , nothing . We made the decision to leave the keys in the lock box on the counter. As I was waiting for my husband to bring the car to the front of the hotel to load all our luggage I saw a man behind the counter through the window from outside. I went in & asked if he was the manager in which he responded yes. I proceeded to tell him we were checking out as we were not happy with our rooms & what we had witnessed in the 1 1/2 hours of our stay there. We felt unsafe & the rooms were just filthy as well as people yelling obscenities in the corridors . He proceeded to yell at me & asked me what room numbers I had & made me feel very uncomfortable . I told him the keys were put in the box there & that we had three rooms . He moved to the front of the counter & in my face telling me I was racist & proceeded to yell at me & inciting what I believe may have been workers living in the building sitting in the foyer by saying I hated them & was racist ! This was so wrong! He was out of control and very rude. He asked what’s wrong with the room. I started telling him & he wanted me to show him. I followed him along with my elderly father up the stairs & down the corridor where he continued to yell & scream to people in the corridors that I hated them & was racist which I replied , “How dare you say that, I’ve never said such things.” I started videoing him f

Best Western Launceston is a basic, but clean, safe, comfortable well-priced hotel in the centre of Launceston. It's well positioned for the Botanic Gardens and monkey enclosure, right in the centre of the city, and not too far from the river. The room had everything you'd need, or expect, for this price. But what raised the place for me was the service. On a badly delayed flight I didn't arrive until after midnight, but the night manger appeared swiftly, helped me check in, and never once complained about being dragged to the front desk in the middle of the night.

This must be the only hotel in Australia that charges more to book direct than through a 3rd party. I stayed twice because of the location, once through Air BnB and once directly. The Air BnB offer seems to be a sublease through a guy who rarely responds to messages and the front desk don't deal with his bookings. I tried to extend my first visit but he wouldn't respond so I just left. The 2nd stay I thought may be better booking direct but they wanted to change me more $16 than online. They honoured booking.com's price when challenged but this seems very poor practise. The staff were kind and the room was clean but I wouldn't be bothered again.

We had 3 rooms booked for a 2 night stay from 1st November which we booked through Booking.com. We checked into the Cornwall Hotel approximately 3.30pm on the 1st November. Upon arrival we were greeted by a pleasant staff member which gave us our keys. We all went to our rooms & were all very disappointed upon entering. The smell of filthy stained carpet , very tired & marked Furniture & the bathroom was appalling. Mould on the walls & stains that look like vomit & urine up the walls . The stainless steel shower was like a men’s urinal & was also dirty. Nothing like the pictures on the advertising. Why we didn’t just leave right then & there I don’t know. Looking for a positive I guess & hoping things would get better . We stayed in our room for approximately 1 hour before venturing out for a walk to the park followed by dinner together . We returned to the hotel at approximately 9pm . We climbed into bed shortly after & were hearing constant doors opening & closing , lots of people talking in the corridors so it was very hard to relax. Around 9.30pm very loud Alarms were going off in the corridor & the yelling & shouting began. I opened the door to see many people running down the corridors & unsavoury people yelling and swearing up & down the hall. These people were Caucasian males. This was the final straw . Not recommended if you have heavy baggage as theres no elevator (only 2 floors though). The place is beautiful as it’s on the top of a hill, but not so convenient if you’re on foot to sightseeing / do grocery so I’ll give it a 4. We didn’t need much service it’s mostly just DIY without much issue so I’ll give it a 5. The place is definitely clean so 5. Amenities would be 3 due to the stairs for heavy baggages (might not be an issue for everyone), also there’s no blind or door for the shower so the water would spill out to other areas in the washroom even if you are very cautious.

I would like to give the reception staff Lisa and Karen 10 out of 10 for wonderful service. I was trying to get a bed for one night and rang the hotel as I'd booked on what I thought was their website - I'd booked the wrong night and couldn't change it. Lisa was the lady I spoke to and she very kindly sorted it for me in such a lovely manner. Then when I arrived Karen was on reception and the welcome was warm and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Personality plus, what an asset! The room was on the small side but comfortable, spotless and had a fabulous view of the city. It is also within walking distance of two theatres, bars and restaurants. A genuine pleasure to stay here, thank you ladies.
