I’d have to start off by saying the pictures were slightly misleading. I’m not hard to please but at the bare minimum the property should be clean. I arrived to check-in around 10pm and the lobby area was very dark. There was also a sign on the door that indicated some sort of inspection was taking place. I stood at the front for a few minutes before a young man appeared. The gentleman at the desk was friendly and to the point. While he checked me in, I couldn’t help but notice bags of trash in the office behind the desk. It was very messy behind the counter. The cleanliness of the property definitely was an issue during the duration of my stay. There were bags of trash randomly about the hallways. I felt like I was at a trap house. The room itself was decent but it was hard to overlook the stained carpets and old fixtures. I really wanted to like this place but it was very difficult. The beds were comfortable. The location of the property was decent as well. All in all, would I stay here again? Definitely not. The tall Sonesta Tower across the street was much better. We ended up checking out and going there.

I have stayed in many IHG properties, including Candlewood Suites, and they have always been good. This room was an embarrassment to the company! The experience started with the check-in where we were processed by a very sharp young lady. Full disclosure, I was somewhat surprised I was not given an upgrade due to my Rewards standing but, it was a reward night. When the elevator door opened, it squeaked so badly we were apprehensive about getting in. We did make it to the third floor and our room appeared to be fine. BUT, the first issue arose when the remote would not turn on the TV. I finally got it to light up by using the power button on the set. The remote would only move the channels up, not down and although the closed captions showed on, they did not work. When my wife got out of the shower, she told me it was the slowest draining tub she had ever seen. When I got in later, I had to remove the stopper completely in order to get it to drain. The control for the sink stopper WOULD NOT WORK and I had to push it all the way down. Then, I could not get it open and my shaving cream residue stayed in the sink after I pried the stopper enough to get it to slowly drain. When I got in the shower, I discovered the shampoo and the conditioner containers WERE EMPTY! I related all these issues to the desk person when I checked out but I am not confident she was concerned at all! Although I used reward points for this room, I WASTED THEM!

First off, I felt unsafe and that my car might be vandalized. With the exception of checking out, I find the staff to be extraordinarily rude. Before you think I'm Karening, I came to check in at 2:15 (admittedly my fault for not knowing the time or that check in was at 3:00). After waiting about 5 minutes while two staff members argued in the back room, the woman came out and when I said I was there to check in, she angry-sarcastically asked ”Did someone tell you to come in here because check in is at 3. Is it 3? No, it's not”. When I asked if there was something close that I could do for 40 minutes she just said no. When I asked if there was a place nearby to eat she said no, but you can drive around to find something. When I opened my room, the smell hit me like a physical blow. I wish I could photograph a smell!!! The last person must have been there a long, long time (in guessing many months) and chain smoked in it the entire time. My asthma was instantly flared (didn't have my inhaler with me, which made it worse). I immediately went back and said the room is so smoky and she said she knew and that's why I didn't get charged a deposit but there were no other rooms. I immediately went to buy cleaning supplies and air fresheners. I spent hours washing down all surfaces and walls and floor. It never really made a dent in m how bad the room reeked. I put several air fresheners on the air unit to help more. It didn't. The room was filthy. Two of the three entry door locks were broken and the door jamb was broken, like someone had kicked the door in at one point. The outside of the refrigerator was beyond nasty. The back of the toilet didn't have the right lid. The mirror was not above the sink but to the side so you had to stand against the toilet to see yourself to get ready in the morning. The bathtub didn't hold water for a bath so I had to cut off part of a bread wrapper and hold it with my heel. The toilet paper holder was loose in the wall and the toilet paper fell off every time. The toilet paper roll was almost empty on my arrival (it had 9 squares left). I was there for 8 days and never once got new towels or wash cloth. One washcloth, one hand towel and one towel was all I ever had. They also never took the trash out. The groceries I put in the refrigerator on day one froze overnight, completely ruining two crispers full of salad, fruits and veggies. The bed was like sleeping on a board. It was difficult to even get comfortable enough to fall asleep and I was in extreme pain every morning when I woke up. The pillows were comfortable, but that's it. I'm pretty sure the bedding came from the Dollar Store (if so, they over paid). There were no hangers in the closet at all. There's also no dresser, just two shelves. There was a full kitchenette but no toaster, stove, silverware, plates, bowls or glasses. I had to go buy them all for my 8 day stay. I think the pictures tell a better story of this nightmare. Btw, I travel a LOT and neve

Staying at this Embassy Suites was a terrible experience. I usually stay in a lot of Embassy Suites, but this one was by far the worst. The building is in dire need of repairs and remodeling, the elevator produces a loud buzzing sound, the hot tub was only functional one day, the pool was an unappealing shade of green with debris at the top, and the room itself was dingy and dirty. What made this experience even worse is that we had to request housekeeping service at the front desk every night and we never received an apology. I would advise everyone to avoid this particular location. After day one they informed us that we needed to request housekeeping service at the front desk. (Would have been good to tell us that when we checked in) Even after requesting housekeeping service at the front desk the next two nights, we never got it. We had to bring our trash down to the front desk every night and also request towels. The room itself was dingy and dirty. The carpet was worn, the tiles in the bathroom were broken, and the view from the window was an outside wall. At no time did we receive an apology or any other form of acknowledgement for the issue we were facing. The front desk staff acted as if this was a common occurrence and were clearly frustrated, yet they didn't really show any sympathy. I will say the chef who made omelets did a good job and so did the lady that was responsible for cleaning up the breakfast areas.

We booked and paid for a bigger room (2 queens and pull out couch) because we have 4 kids on our trip for a wedding. Wanted to check in an hour earlier because we were passing thru and easier than at 10pm at night after a wedding. Were told on the phone that it would cost us $25 additional to check in early, so we declined. Checked in at 10 pm that night after the wedding to be told that just because we paid more for that room does not guarantee that we are in that room. They only had a king room with a pull out couch that would not accomodate 4 kids! The 2 ladies at the front desk were of no help, not even offering a dditional pillows or blankets. When asked if any of the other Sonesta's in the area (there were three!) had any rooms to accomodate, they insisted that they just ”thought” there was nothing available not even bothering to check. Worst customer service and they didn't care at all! This is my first and last time I will ever stay at a Sonesta and I will tell all my friends to never stay here!!!

So I admittedly don't write reviews unless it's stellar or terrible but I had to look and you can apparently only review the hotel on the Marriott website if you're sent a ”guest satisfaction” survey. The hotel itself is in a pretty decent place, the restaurant/bar is ok, and the rooms are generally pretty nice. What got me though is that when I walked in to my room it was probably 84-86 degrees. The AC blew hot air on me all night long and never got below 76 degrees and you could hear it click off despite being set to much lower than that. I, as expected, woke up with a raspy voice and was very lethargic for the day. For a hotel that runs close to $200/night I guess I would expect the ability to have a comfortable room. Will definitely not be staying there again...
