The hotel is placed on the Alster. The view must be awesome in Springtime or Summer. It was wonderful on the cold snowy days we spent there. Having breakfast on 9th floor looking at the gray sky and snow falling down while we had breakfast prepared me very well for the Christmas markets (Weihnachtsmarkt). The hotels is walkable distance from Central Train Station (Hauptbanhof), even if it was snowing. From Hauptbahnhof one can walk or take transportation to almost all tourist sites. Near the awesome Art Museum which is well worth a visit. Check-in and out staff were very kind as breakfast staff, fundamentally a young man of Greek nationality and a man who spoke Spanish. They made our breakfast- which was delicious- more enjoyable. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable though I could point out that there was very little electric light, probably sacrificed for the sake of design. It was so little that I decided, when leaving, that my luggage had to be prepared on morning with natural light. Even for reading, although there was a bed lamp, the light was poor. The bathroom also had some design flaws, primarily the lack of a door on the shower caused the rest of the bathroom to get wet.On the other hand, it is very nice to look at but I must confess that I am a very practical person and I prefer practicality over design. Enough place to store clothes and a very comfortable desk to work, many plugs.. I emphasize that the window could be opened at least a little, which for me is important because it avoided the confinement of some hotel rooms that cannot be ventilated. Two criticism with the hope that they could be improved: though being two of us only one bottle of water, failure to replenish amenities. The scond criticism, perhaps more significant, was the low number of machines in the gym.Only one bike in such a big hotel. Being winter time and the day so short it would be nice to have a more comfortable fitness center.Spa , steam room and sauna were splendid. Room service was quite quick and efficient and not very expensive. The soup we ordered was delicious. Again a quite nice and friendly place to stay. I hope to come back. If I point some downs it is only because I am thinking to come back.

Renaissance Hamburg Hotel

Stayed there three nights earlier this week. Nice central location, clean and spacious room, good food, friendly reception people, but..... In short, when reserving online, I wrote just one thing in the 'special requests' section, and that was ”As quiet a room as possible please.” I suppose the best and most truthful possible answer to this would have been, ”Sorry, that just won't be possible at the moment because there is loud construction noise all day long, starting at 7 a.m.. We have reserved a room for you at the nearby Marriott instead.” That is of course not what happened. This situation may of course not be entirely the case for every single room. A receptionist told us there were three separate construction projects happening and each affected a different part of the hotel. (None are in the hotel itself.) We had room 524, which is next to a fire escape stairway. I suspect the construction in question was below the bottom of the stairway as the noise seemed to come mainly from there. On Monday morning the jackhammers started at 8 a.m., On Tuesday they started at 7:30 and on Wednesday at 7 a.m. Yesterday (Wednesday), we came back in the middle of the day, hoping for a short nap as the workers took their lunch break, which they did at 12:15. No luck. The hotel ran a pre-announced test of the fire alarm on our floor at 12:35. It rang 8 times. The construction work restarted just after 1 p.m. I measured it at a constant 50 dB using an app on my phone. I feel quite strongly that the rooms in the areas most affected by the construction noise should not be on sale at all. If not, there should be a warning on the website that it will be noisy, advising prospective guests that they should really choose somewhere else for the time being. Yes, I realize that would be a tough decision, but you are putting your reputation on the line at the moment, and the current message seems to be that you don't care.

Nyce Hotel Hamburg City
3.9/548 Reviews
The city hotel is located on a side street near the main station. The reception was friendly and the check-in was speedy. The rooms are beautiful but relatively small. Stack and deposition are only few available. As a single traveler, it didn't disturb me, but a couple with two bags would have had some difficulty. However, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was also rather small, but convenient. The room was always very well cleaned. The breakfast buffet offered a good choice and was of good quality. The location of the hotel is really optimal for a city trip. I was in any case satisfied.

As always Novotel never disappoints, clean, quiet room, comfortable bed and large TV. Spacious bathroom with shower. New, modern and well-maintained structure. Serious and professional staff. Particularly well-stocked breakfast, sweet, savory, fruit etc etc. I highly recommend this property!
Hotel Terminus am Hauptbahnhof & Zob

Close to the central station, clean rooms, friendly staff, Not the best area but felt safe, close to all transport, will definately use again, was allowed to leave baggage at reception after checkout time. Could not fault the room and facilities, Lift available, but stops between floors so would have to be able to walk up 10 steps to room. Did not have breakfast but it did look good. Have stayed in many budget hotels in germany, this one is my favourite,
acora City Apart Living the City

Elevator still doesn’t work if anyone is wondering. We liked the place itself. Apartment was pretty basic but clean. Nothing much about the place itself to say or complain about. The location is another story. It’s close to the Hauptbahnhof (central station) where a lot of unfortunate down and out people hang around. As we were walking to the hotel at around nine pm someone with drug and/or psychiatric problems approached us and followed us to the door, talking in German the whole time. In the doorway two guys were sitting and offered us drugs but they were very polite and chill about it. All in all, an alright place, but maybe great for families (which isn’t the hotel’s fault).
Henri Hotel Hamburg Downtown

We stayed at the Henri Hotel for almost a week and could not have been happier. The location is great! 5 minutes to Hauptbahnhof and about 5-10 minutes to the major hall. We loved the decor and atmosphere of this place. Our room was spacious, very clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. Wow! Another plus were sound proof windows and a working AC! Staff was incredibly friendly each we needed them and the breakfast was delicious! We would totally stay there again. A gem of a find!
